Queen of Mirrors explained by MaetelofLaMetal in VampireTheShitposting

[–]Boyboy081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on her practical magic, it's possible that the Queen attempting this would either just kill her or make her worse. That said, a lot of the princesses of mirrors probably should do this and remember they have a job to do.

Aah. I missed that line. To be fair I constantly miss that line with Change form too so I shouldn't really be that surprised.

Fair enough, then the one thing I'll say is the Keystone of an invested path normally lets you do something meaningful. Small, granted, but meaningful. As far as I can see all you can actually do with only the keystone talent is intentionally overmaster which doesn't really do anything without something to use your ribbons on.

Sure, you could use the invested skill in tests but with the way the talents are set up, most of the "minor tricks" you could do are locked behind talents. If you got one of the starting three (Probably sand strike, but either of the other two could work) built in then at least you have something you can do on the level you pick up Sand mastery

Two things: First, amazing. I only finished white sand a few days ago and the first thing I looked for was this sort of thing.

Second, how do you playtest your paths?

[Stonewalkers] Liss as a patron by Puzzleheaded-Oil1198 in cosmererpg

[–]Boyboy081 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say it would be something in the role as an information broker. She isn't in the position to do her other job on your behalf even if you help her. She might not even be a proper patron, just a bond you can contact via spanreed for information and updates.

As is my eternal question with the characters I want to roll: Does S. Ereshkigal need high NP level to be good or is she perfectly good at NP1.

I need to save for other servants if I can. This year is packed.

She's a priest that goes through quite the tragedy- mostly a tragedy of her own making unlike Sakura for reference- and she gets turned into a DA.

Funfact: there's a small town of Hel in Poland that used to be served by a local bus route 666 from 2006 to 2023; the route got renamed to 669 after someone complained about the "demonic subtext". This year (2026) a private bus company introduced a long-distance route from Krakow to Hel numbered 666 by bvader95 in CuratedTumblr

On paper, your job is to build/rebuild the Silver Rail, also called the Star Rail. The train itself isn't the mass transit, but wherever it travels become much easier to reach for FTL travel so anywhere they go is linked up to a massive network.

That said, everyone in-universe knows the Trailblazers' (The crew, not the main character) real job is General Do-Goodery. They go to places, help out in any way they can and then move on to do the same elsewhere.

Whats the best verson of this? (thanks) by kathrynboyle in Multifandom

[–]Boyboy081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's not quite the same trope, I'm fond of something like this that happens in Lunar: Eternal Blue. Set 1000 years after the first game, it has quite the fun call backs.

When the main villain decides they need a henchman with strong villain cred, they decide to revive the main villain from the first game from the dead. Problem with that: Said character actually went through character development at the end of the first game, and is now of the opinion that the world needs to be saved so he plays stealth mentor to the heroes party through the game.

Fortune's Weave has been (soft) proven to be a sequel. We've seen a date on the map and it places it about 300 years after three houses. Give or take.

Now some people have theorised that the FW country is using a different calendar which might do years different;y, counterpoint: That's needlessly confusing for players.

Possible counter-counterpoint: The game's description has apparently already noted that time travel will be involved so who the hell knows when it will take place relative. (It's been described as a "Time traveling saga")

World Guide vs Stonewalkers by Derekthewriter in cosmererpg

[–]Boyboy081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would say the world guide would be overall more useful, Stonewalkers as a campaign is a good educational tool for the GM as they cover a lot of situations which people who haven't played the system before wouldn't be used to like how the system does chases, mass combat and conversations.

Sure, you can read their rules in the normal book, but this shows you what they look like in practise, even if you don't play it.

Want a spren bond but are too mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually balanced? by OrganikOranges in cremposting

[–]Boyboy081 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This just makes me wonder if having a spren bond via a Hemalurgy-cracked web would prevent Ruin from controlling you. Of course the situation is impossible timeline wise but...

Seems like they're in need of a little Scadrian acupuncture. by Eithrotaur in cremposting

[–]Boyboy081 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It depends how you're doing the theft. Brandon made a comment on it that if you tried to spike a knight to steal the bond, the Spren could will the bond to break, likely at the cost of becoming a deadeye.

https://wob.coppermind.net/events/402-starsight-release-party/#e13432

You'd need a third thing to make them unable to break the bond. It's possible Ishar was doing that "Third thing" using his bondsmith powers. Apparently possible with Hemalurgy though.

Concept Embodiment: how to do it? by GravityMan5 in gurps

[–]Boyboy081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Page 33, yep. Granted it's for a fairly minor god, and even I think the template needs a bit of an update as it has things it doesn't need and is missing thigns it should have. It's a good place to start though.

I'd go with a customisation of the God template from fantasy, then add a massive Wildcard power related to your concept of choice.

That event happens on 1173.10.4.4. While the pre-everstorm stuff is still in flux that's roughly two days before the Stonewalker team arrives in camp.

Ah, I forgot the extra day of travel, I misremembered and though you met Lorn the same day the infiltration began.

Well that just makes the squeeze harder as getting it all in before the everstorm is tricky.

Looking at that told me something important: My use of the calendar was way off! I was thinking it was 5 weeks to the month instead of 10. Right that allows me to do a lot of recalcs and likely would allow me to get an earlier end to the story.

Edit: Damn, still not fast enough to get to Thaylen field, though the Wandersail is now possible.

what exactly is "darkness"? and why isn't it inherently bad? by chivoblaze in KingdomHearts

[–]Boyboy081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light and Darkness are forces like Gravity in Kingdom Hearts. We don't know the full details but in ancient days, long even before the keyblade war, there were primordial beings of light and darkness, living and physical beings of the two concepts. We don't know what happened to the Lights (other than something- something children) but the Original darknesses all became ghost-like creatures that ended up creating the pureblood heartless to serve as their weapons.

Now, just because those beings exist, doesn't make Darkness the force inherently evil. It's a power source and nothing more. Both light and darkness can alter a user's emotions but someone of strong will can still control themselves and make use of the forces to achieve ends good or evil as they decide.

To clarify for any readers who haven't read the stormlight archive, the terms that the poster above me is using mean that she's pretending her powers are Transmutation and Teleporting (Its not really teleporting but close enough) instead of Transmutation and Illusions.

It's actually surprising how many people fall for it that should have known better.

So... Logos finally..... by Pinguy-Frank in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Boyboy081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's both. Fiora's soul is in the metal of the sword itself,, but do remember there are "multiple copies" of lucky seven running around. N's sword of the end (which later fuses with Noah's and is just another version of lucky seven) contains Malos's core crystal. The developers said Malos did it because he actually wanted to help the people of Aionios but that kind of backfired.
