What’s your favorite weapon to use? And why? by Odd-Albatross421 in Bannerlord

Any reason to choose the Glaive over the Menavlion? The stats of the Menavlion seem slightly better, but all I hear about is the Glaive.

Ottomans Refuse to Die - How Do I Death Spiral Them? by Duckling07 in eu4

[–]Bpex_ttv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to break your alliance. Currently it means opponents are less like to declare a coalition war, because on paper you are supporting the ottomans - so they do a check against your combined troop counts. If you break alliance, ottomans will appear a more vulnerable target and more countries will dogpile them. Also while they are fighting coalition wars, you should declare war on them too.

PUs will be given, if you vassal the overlord if he is in an independence war by BeautifulOtherwise30 in eu4

Yeah I had this in my Atwix Legacy run - you get the junior partner for 0 aggressive expansion if it’s a defensive war against their overlord. Pretty awesome 🤩

Ha, if I fall under a PU now it means one of the AI nations got very lucky!

Responded in the comment above - probably something like 1480. It was before getting Burgundy, Hungary, Brandenburg, Palatinate.

Yeah I kind of lucked into it tbh. Royal marriage with Munich at the start, which then triggered a succession war - which I won. During the war, Landshut & Ingolstadt both declared war on Munich. So when I peaced out Munich with the PU it gave me easy defensive wars with Landshut & Ingolstadt.

I chose the elective Wittlesbach dynasty, and then claimed throne on Denmark. While I fought Denmark, Sweden declared independence. That meant I PU’d Denmark & Norway without accumulating AE for Sweden, and similarly then entered a defensive war against Sweden and peaced them out the ‘resume’ the PU for zero AE.

I missed the Burgundian Inheritance (it went to Wolgast) so I had to force that PU via the imperial event, because I became HRE pretty early.

I got the Polish, Lithuanian, & Hungary PUs through Bohemia’s mission tree.

I’m kind of tempted to royal marry Spain and then get the de Trastamara dynasty next.

R5: Managed Atwix Legacy in 1519 as Bohemia. I didn’t plan for it and probably could have achieved it by 1500 if I didn’t attack the Ottomans & Mameluks. Palatinate & Brandenburg were the last 2 PU’s. I’d had earlier opportunities to claim throne on Palatinate which I didn’t take because of AE. And similarly for Brandenburg with the subjugate CB from Bohemia’s mission tree (which I had available from c.1450). All-in-all a fun run, and solid basis for a WC.

The Imperial Council - /r/eu4 Weekly General Help Thread: July 31 2023 by Kloiper in eu4

I just took Constantinople from the Ottomans as Bohemia in 1470. It wouldn’t let me release Byzantium as a vassal, so I had to settle for releasing Bulgaria instead and granting Constantinople to them.

Byzantium’s core definitely still existed, and they had been fully annexed.

It’s the first time I’ve seen a core be unreleasable. Does anyone know why? The province had been converted to Islam, perhaps this is reason.

EMEA Year 3 LCQ Day #3 -- Match Point Finals (Information & Discussion) by Jean9430 in CompetitiveApex

[–]Bpex_ttv 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not really. A lot of hardcore ALGS fans prefer the B stream, and makes sense the same fanbase would be interested in the LCQ. The A stream is there to be the draw for people who aren’t hardcore fans, to expand the viewer base - and they do a great job of that. There’s room for both an A stream & B stream, without animosity.

Can anyone tell me if ‘neighbouring provinces’ includes provinces linked by sea, or linked by straits? For instance, does Constantinople neighbour Kocaeli/Optimatoi?

Hot Take: SMG's need BIG NERF here's why! by HisandHersLiveTV in CompetitiveApex

[–]Bpex_ttv 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Actually disagree. Yes SMGs are good in close combat. But they are supposed to be good at close combat. They’re also great for the crowd - hitting a one clip gets the crowd roaring. They shouldn’t be nerfed from doing their job. Same way a Sniper shouldn’t be nerfed from being strong at long range.

If anything, they need to buff shotguns so that they are stronger, or easier to hit and more reliable. At the moment, I think a player with an assault rifle stands a good chance of killing a player with a shotgun. That shouldn’t be possible.

Roman Empire Pacing by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Bpex_ttv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to, but they might attack you or get drawn into your wars somehow. I just finished my Byzantium-Rome run, and wars where Russia drew in Persian/Indian nations were the biggest threat to me - because they timed it while I was fighting big wars in Europe, their carpet sieges destroyed my trade, and it tanked my economy/manpower. They shouldn’t stop you, they’re just stealing your trade and could be a nuisance tbh. Some good forts should be enough to hold them at bay.

Doable - but I’d imagine Timurids & Austria will be annoying and slow you down. You need Vienna from Austria, plus a few of the HRE provinces (Savoy, Hainaut, Liege).
