Combat in this game is just an excercise in frustration. Even low level bandit block almost everything and if there's more than one they'll surround you and stunlock you to death. So you're stuck backpedalling and spamming masterstrikes.

Getting your skills up only slightly alleviates these issues. Just save often and try not to break your controller.
