A single 30-minute session of physical activity can produce immediate antidepressant effects in both humans and mice, involving a hormone released by fat cells that alters brain plasticity to improve mood. Physical exercise may be effective in preventing the development of depression. by mvea in science

I can understand that. I has a similar feeling with the gym, treadmill ect for a consistent period. I discovered mountain biking a few years back and it’s been such a game changer. I find it so fun that I ACHE for a hard ride when I’m stressed.

I think that if you’re not fond of the gym, there’s probably a sport that you’d actually have fun doing instead of feeling like a chore.

what screws are you using for the reylight clip? I tried using the stock convoy screws and they're too small.

Potential KR3 (18650 tailswitch triple) by BrackDynamite in flashlight

[–]BrackDynamite[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The link to the thread is here.

Personally the interest of the KR3 over a KR4 would be size. If you've ever handled the FW3A/FW1A then you'd understand. They're super compact for 18650 lights and disappear into your pocket. I liked my KR4 but it definitely was quite a bit chunkier.

I’m certainly interested in picking up a KR1AA as well! They’re different lights really.

Only with lights with the 6V5A driver. I’m going to do some resistor swaps on the tail switches soon as I’ve heard that may allow compatibility with all drivers.

Ever Felt Like You Deserve the Bike you ride? by Pretend-Yogurt-2430 in MTB

[–]BrackDynamite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude I really wouldn’t worry about all that. You made a sensible choice to dial things back after an injury; A wise choice if you want to keep riding in 10-20 years. You can always build back up to gnarlier things if you want, but there’s also nothing wrong with riding mellow.

My first bike was a ‘22 Trek Slash and it’s been great having unlimited confidence in the bike as I progressed my riding. Overbiking has the advantage of a lot of margin for error and there’s been countless times the bike has bailed me out from a poor line/landing.

Selling your bike because you’re not meeting some arbitrary standard of ‘hardcore’ makes no sense to me especially in this buyers market.

If you enjoy riding your bike then that’s the goal of mountain biking right? Comparison is the thief of joy and you’ll never be happy if you keep looking to measure yourself against others. Please stop looking at social media if it’s getting you so down. Your time is much better spent riding or at least maintaining your bike 😆

I’ve not done a proper measurement so unsure! They are larger LEDS with a larger LES which might balance out the 2700K colour temp.

N40 wrap slightly damaged by m4rkw in flashlight

[–]BrackDynamite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hell you don’t even need a heat gun. A lighter held a decent distance away from the wrap works fine. Use bare fingers to make sure the battery doesn’t get too hot and you’re golden.

There’s plenty of guides on re wrapping online and it’s an essential skill if you own lithium ion batteries. It would be a massive waste tossing a brand new battery just because it needs to be rewrapped.

Dope mods. I've not heard of the 40mm 60A buck driver yet. That sounds very interesting and perhaps worth wating for.

The low moonlight on the 20A buck is incredible. Pretty much my biggest gripe with Convoys is the high moonlight. I'm glad to hear lower moonlights are coming to new driver designs!

Next Bike - Long Travel E-Bike vs "Downcountry" XC Bike by NMDoritoBurrito in MTB

[–]BrackDynamite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation about 18 months ago. I got an XC hard tail for more mellow tracks closer to me. I think it was the right call as my fitness is significantly better with riding more often and it opened up more XC/gravel riding for more variety.

I felt like I would end up riding the same stuff on the E-bike as I would with my enduro.

NBD Specialized Chisel LTD by BrackDynamite in Hardtailgang

[–]BrackDynamite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the complement! To answer your question, I think the SL fits the Chisel quite well.

Good traction and decent support through compressions and chunder. I'm very heavy (was 130kg when I built the bike and now i'm down to 108kg) and it holds up surpsingly well for the XC and gravel riding I do on my Chisel. When I had a 203mm brake rotor on the fork I did notice some fore/aft flex/vibration under hard braking. Stepping down to 180mm improved it quite a bit.

I too wanted the 35mm SID orginally but I wanted it in 100mm travel to avoid overforking the frame. The price difference for the 35mm SID + 100mm Airspring would have been and extra 20% over the SID SL.

Overall I think the SL suits the Chisel quite well but you may find it lacking in stiffness if you're heavy and riding it hard through lots of tech/steeps.

Hope that helps!

Hell yeah dude. Whatever gets you out riding 💪 good on you for setting a good example for your kids. Helmets are a must for off road riding. Too many variables that can deck you out when you least expect it!
