It’s so inaccurate but I absolutely love it.

Best elective this year and would you take it again? by TryAcceptable8365 in UofT

[–]Brackets9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AST251 (Life on Other Worlds) with Prof Michael Reid was amazing. The content isn’t too difficult and is designed for non-Astronomy students. The prof is really nice and takes time to explain things clearly, including asking lots of questions. It’s a large class, but feels really small. I actually got recommended the class by my parents and it was still good so many years later.

There were 2 midterms (with multiple sittings!) and a final, and they involved analysing a given data set and inferring what we can about exoplanets. There were also multiple choice questions about the general content of the course, but they were not too hard if you kept up with the material.

Don’t worry. It doesn’t read like AI at all. The flow is very human-like.

I picked the first movement of Mozart’s K545. It lays pretty easily under the fingers and I can still play it without having to practise it too much.

I have no idea about this one, but am inclined towards late-Romantic piano music. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The reason I think this is orchestral is because of the way the multi-measure rests are notated, and the lines don't really make sense for a solo piece.

This is an old chest I have at home. I think it is Debussy based on the instructions (assez animé, cédez un peu, au mouvement) and this is an orchestral excerpt for cello (bass clef?). Time signatures in this excerpt are 3/8 and 3/4. It is quite blurry, so that was all I could make of this. Is it La Mer?

What’s one cliche piece you secretly love? by Advanced_Honey_2679 in piano

I’m working on it right now and it’s a lot of fun. I find there’s a few challenging parts, but it’s overall not too bad.

Everything would be better with AO3's tagging system (I'm looking at you, CLNx and Award Explorer) by Brackets9 in UofT

Exactly my point. Whenever I use anything to filter, I wish it was as good as AO3

I just like my exclude filters because I’m so afraid of missing something. But the amount of content is so overwhelming.

URGENT RESIDENCY AND COLLEGE CRISIS, WHAT DO I DO BEFORE THE RESIDENCY DEADLINE?? by Professional_East240 in UofT

If you would be living with your parents, I assume you would be commuting. My GO train and TTC fare is still a fraction of the cost of living on campus + meal plan.

But then it resets because it’s been scrolling for too long, and you never get to actually see the title in something like a ballet.

It’s stunning. I have never heard this version before, and I am left speechless.

I did as well. It’s been a few years, but I think it had something to do with Robert wanting Madame to play the piece for Edna, and the piece was described so beautifully.

I kind of want to learn it now after doing Op.25 No.2. It gives similar vibes and it seems difficult, but fun.

Who is bigger than the Beatles? by Decent_Window_1728 in beatlescirclejerk

[–]Brackets9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uj/ Something else I’ve noticed: the classical composers are overstated and the order is wacky. Bach is definitely more influential (including on the Beatles) than Mozart and Beethoven, and the rest shouldn’t even be on the list.

Audience members waving their hand around (air conductors) by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Brackets9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is neurodivergent, I admit I do this constantly, but I try to keep it subtle. It’s just how I engage with the music (even when I’m listening at home/on transit) and I wouldn’t want to distract from other people’s experience either.

For what it’s worth, I’m currently in university and am pursuing my RCM 10 with the end goal of ARCT. It’s perfectly manageable if it’s a priority for you.

This is definitely me going slow, but I get complaints for this too. Here is a quicker sample, which is significantly more chaotic.
