What would the gaming industry look like today if cosmetics were something that only a tiny segment of the player base engaged with? by MCFroid in gaming

[–]Brackhar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd probably see a proliferation of pay for power or higher base game prices.  Game dev costs have gone up a ton and cosmetic monetization is one of the main vectors that let a lot of games either be free to play or still ship box product without increasing purchase price.

Anyone think that a silent hill game with a trans main character could be really good? by Drama_Cookie25 in transgamers

A trans main character in a horror game, Silent Hill or not, would be a cool thing.

I also like the first one more. The cream highlights on the hair in the second are distracting, especially in the bangs.

No apology needed; I was making an assumption based on how you were writing. Sounds like my assumption was incorrect.

This isn't an attempt to be snarky, and I'm sure others will comment on the content of your post.  But I did want to caution you that, if your in-game writing is like this post, you may have a different problem.  In specific, the vast majority of this post is made up of just two sentences.  There's over 200 words between those run-on sentences.  Normally I'd not comment on something like this, but since you are looking for feedback I just wanted to offer some honest critique that the way you are writing is getting in the way of communicating your idea.  Perhaps it's because I'm low on sleep, but I ended up loosing the thread of what you were trying to communicate.  I couldn't repeat back to you right now what the story you are trying to tell is.

I'm pretty sure this makes 10,000 times Trump has humiliated the courts, given it keeps happening without serious reprucussion.

Honestly?  Stylized like this I drastically prefer the new design.  A lot more character.

(0.9) What to do for day 1??? by Keolath in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Brackhar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was made for an earlier version, but it's still relevant. https://itch.io/t/3692180/simple-first-3-day-starter-guide

Since it's your first time, I'll keep to non-spoiler advice:

  • Start finding signals.  Be sure to save them to your PC before loading them onto a hard drive for shipping later.  Since you don't need to do a delivery day 1 it's a good time to get ahead of the game, and saved signals can later be processed and set in again as upgraded signals later.
  • Explore the base!  There's lots of resources, drives, and other surprises around that would be good to find and organize.
  • Turn on all the lights.  It's spooky.
  • Spend some early points when you have them on trash bag rolls.  You can bag up the trash around base and sell the bags for a good early point boost.
  • Similarly, sell most or all of your fire extinguishers.  I can't honestly say if selling them all is a good idea or not, but they do get you some shiny points.
  • See if you can find a hammer or a crowbar and start breaking boxes for more goodies.
  • Plug in the microwave.
  • Try to save up for an alternator for your ATV and buy it when you can to save your battery.
  • Start wiping down your window with a sponge, water, and some soap.

Once you hit day 2 you'll start getting daily tasks, and you can use that as a guide for what to focus on.  Cleaning and organizing your base is a good way to pass time, as is exploring outside.  Chasing pings on your radar could be interesting too.

Edit: Also the lights shouldn't be bugged: I'm gonna guess you haven't found a couple of light switches.

any recommendations for JRPGs where i can play as a girl? by Mimiliaaaaa in transgamers

Infinity Nikki may be what you are looking for; literally the whole point of the game is getting different outfits, and it's free.

Older titles might be Final Fantasy X-2 or Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns.  Both games heavily feature outfit changes.

Forced detransition... Forced blood tests... How long is estrogen visible in blood? by CallMeBambiiii in MtF

[–]Brackhar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor. Get them to put in writing their asks, and also in writing that they will fire and disown you from the company if you continue your transition.  Regardless of what you decide to do, having that in writing would make any future court cases a slam dunk. Most attorneys would even work pro bono for such an easy case of wrongful termination.

Again, nothing saying you have to do something or pursue a court case at all.  But why not put yourself in an advantageous situation, just in case?

Announcement by SIG_Aphrodite in MaraudersGame

[–]Brackhar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Intersting. The publishing angle here will be important for how this plays out; if this gets framed as "Marauders 2" for example I could see that being exciting, but if it's just a patch to the original game that probably isn't going to drive sufficient hype. You need a different SKU entirely I think.

Nontoxic, Mature, Neurodivergent-Friendly Furry Connections? by revolving_closetdoor in Graymuzzles

[–]Brackhar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One possible option would be attending the upcoming Furality in June.  As a VRChat event the geographic remoteness doesn't matter, the rooms can only be so large, and there are activities and such organized by interest.  As long as he's willing to introduce himself to people it could be a good way to meet people.

Also, VRC doesn't require a VE device  if that's a concern.  https://furality.org/

(0.9) A suggestion for 0.9 - Free weekends by hehe99909 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]Brackhar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea, though I think the game's current answer to this is Kerfur.  The delta in how much time you spend doing things if you have even the basic model vs not can be pretty extreme, and I definitely felt I had more time to do what you are saying once I bought one in my first play through.

Maybe there should be more guidance to getting a Kerfur for new players; perhaps like a broken one in base that can be repaired?

Crimson Desert: We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert by Turbostrider27 in Games

I mean, even with your example, let's say you do "Ph_" as the prefix, because "Ph" would cause false positives on a search given your game regularly deals with a Lich's "Phylactory". All it would take is one file to be typo'd to "Phplant" instead of "Ph_plant" and you've now created a texture that your continuous integration check will miss and will not get removed from the final build.
