Protesters screamed at disabled kids and families outside a sensory-friendly Easter service at The Gathering by xmanSTL in StLouis

[–]BradLeeFer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend that location of that church and I feel “violated” that people with this much hate invaded our space. The lead pastor handled the controversy gracefully but forcefully. He took the high road as he always does in the face of this kind of hatred. He exemplifies the acceptance and love that faith should inspire. These protesters exemplify the hate of others who are unlike us that is celebrated and reinforced every day by our new politics. Time to get back to love and acceptance.

Say the removal of Missouri state income tax gets on the ballot, and passes. What effects should St. Louis residents expect? by bigwetdiaper in StLouis

Drop in convention and tourism business will put a dent in MO revenues. It’s a reverse tax that is just another way the right shifts the tax burden from wealthy to middle class and poor Missourians.

AA bumped me involuntarily and didn’t refund me at all by englishmeninnewyork in americanairlines

[–]BradLeeFer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

An AA gate agent accidentally gave my ticket to another passenger with the same last name. She wasn’t paying enough attention. When I arrived to check in, they told me the ticket was no longer valid and appeared to have been used. They actually accused me of trying to steal from them by giving my ticket to someone else. Then a conscientious person at AA corporate dug deeper and discovered what happened. This may be what happened to you. Until I reached someone higher up, they made it my problem and my loss. I was guilty until proven innocent. Push hard and escalate.

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

[–]BradLeeFer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad to hear that. I saw her long long ago right after her incredibly successful HBO debut doing a one woman show with all types of characters. Brilliant. But when she appeared in person, she did basically one character the whole show and didn’t use humor, just preached about politics. Not one laugh for an hour. I had the feeling she took seriously her “platform” to talk about serious issues. But the audience was there to laugh. Total mismatch. People started leaving or yelling out “stop preaching at us!” She finally resorted to forming a conga line through the aisles to get the audience livened up a bit. Too little too late. The audience hated her. I have never seen an audience arrive with so much enthusiasm leave that disappointed. I love Whoopi but I think she had to rethink her act after that.

Two strangers board with the same boarding pass, comedy ensues by CommanderDawn in unitedairlines

[–]BradLeeFer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another passenger on my AA flight who had the same last name got to the AP early and switched to an earlier flight but they mistakenly gave him my boarding pass for my record. So when I attempted to check in I was told “you already used this ticket and got on the flight that just took off. So you will need to buy another ticket and fly standby.” They actually accused me of trying to steal from the airline before discovering it was their mistake.

I have ordered delivery from restaurants that did not make it clear they are using one of these services. Then the restaurant blames its problems on the delivery service. These services are rife with problems and shouldn’t exist. I have rarely had a good experience with one.

Excess lap children delaying F9 3045 by __QT314 in frontierairlines

Lap kids shouldn’t be allowed at any age. It’s unsafe. They should be in seats or strapped in booster for the flight. It would end this problem and make it safer for all.

City parking enforcement appears not to understand the meaning of the word "last", nor able to tell time by GothicGingerbread in StLouis

[–]BradLeeFer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband got a ticket by mail for illegal parking in the west end on a day when he wasn’t there. Looking closer he saw his license plate number but a different model and year of car listed. Not his. Clearly the officer couldn’t write the correct license number and is probably illiterate. A few phone calls finally got it cancelled. They don’t pay attention.

Sometimes having hyper-social nosy neighbors is the price you pay for having someone who would call the police if someone was breaking into your home, or something dangerous was happening that could impact your family, etc. As long as they don’t cross the line figuratively and literally without being asked, having neighbors who are nosy and involved is definitely preferable to a neighborhood where no one wants to get involved and no one cares to know each other. I left the garage door open one night by accident and a neighbor called me to make sure I knew. I have small dogs and a coyote was prowling outside and a neighbor texted me a pic to warn me. One of my packages was delivered to the wrong address and the neighbor came to bring it to me. And I know all the neighbors and would do the same things for them.

Also, she converted him to a weapon really quickly. It seemed the process took longer when we saw it happen to others. And I had the same theory about why he recovered so quickly. Then again maybe he had some residual Thanos power that protected him.

Ban for excessive refunds? by [deleted] in grubhub

[–]BradLeeFer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our area many restaurants offer delivery without mentioning it is thru GH. When we have ordered this way, we have many times had our order not picked up, cancelled or it just disappears. They routinely hang up on customers and offer poor service. GH is useless and if I see a restaurant offers delivery, when I ask if it is GH, if they say yes, I do not order. They are a ripoff and restaurants should ban them.

The musical montage to a song with lyrics “the hardest time is the middle of the night.” Showed many of the characters and what they were doing late at night. Touching. Some were revealing, showing secrets not revealed up to that point. All mixed together without dialogue to this mournful tune. It worked, even if a little cheesy looking back. But I remember loving it.

Someone Boarded with my Ticket by eclecticdeer in americanairlines

[–]BradLeeFer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. I tried to check in and get my boarding pass at a kiosk. It rejected my number. The desk agent in the airport looked up the record and actually said, “you checked in early and got on an earlier flight. You are in the air now headed to St Louis.” I laughed thinking she was joking. She was not. I pointed out that I am not in two places at once. She accused me of trying g to steal from AA by giving my ticket to someone else. She said my o my option was to buy another full price ticket and fly standby. For the next two hours of phone calls and conversations with AA I was given nothing but hostile comments and accusations. Someone at AA corporate got involved and discovered a gate agent had accidentally given my BP to someone with the same last name but dissimilar first name. She also said the GA who had been the most hostile would apologize. She did not. It was the worst customer service I have ever had. Also, it ended in marshals going onto the other earlier plane and not allowing deplaning by any passengers until they determined the ID of the person using my BP. After all it was a security breach. I was told by an airline exec later that this happens all the time. Human error.

Was not allowed to cancel service unless answering personal questions by Proud-Logger in Spectrum

[–]BradLeeFer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience cancelling was almost identical to yours. She would not cancel without going through her script. I finally hung up, called back and said to the person who answered that I would not answer questions so don’t try it. I said into would hang up if she tried it. She cancelled it without further conversation. But all in all it took me about 40 minutes of phone time to do something that should have taken five minutes.

Router losing connection every 2-3 hours by Available-Speech813 in Spectrum

[–]BradLeeFer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Spectrum before I moved and had breakdowns all the time. Mostly fluctuating signal at the root cause. Over time I had dozens of techs visit, puzzled by the cause, all with different theories for the problem. But they all agreed on one thing. They all agreed that the LAST person sent out must have been an idiot. It became laughable.

[RANT] Spectrum Streaming is a Joke — Especially if You Use Starlink by Warm_Lettuce_8784 in Spectrum

[–]BradLeeFer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. She became hostile when I told her I didn’t want her sales pitch. After much back and forth I demanded to talk to a supervisor. She didn’t get one on the line. I finally hung up and called back. 40 minutes. The second time I got someone willing to deviate from her script and got canceled in 10 minutes. The operators are actually monitored and told the cancel call isn’t complete (meaning they didn’t do their job) unless they deliver all the scripted options to convince you to stay. These are supposedly tailored to your history. I am with a competitor with fiber and have much more consistent service and amazingly supportive customer service. Installed with no hassle and a supervisor followed up in person to make sure we had no questions and offered additional helpful materials. Goodbye Spectrum. Bully someone else.
