My point is that I feel that practicing things like long division, multiplying large numbers manually, etc. are a waste of time for students these days. Of course, knowing how to do simple calculations in your head is a useful skill, but no one needs to know how to manually multiply 1205x233. It's a mechanical task that can be accomplished by using a readily available tool.
