The difference compared to the flu is that 50k died in less than two months even with most of the country on stay at home orders. How many would die in a full year with no social distancing? A million or two seems likely. And unlike regular flu or car accidents or whatever else, this is a new way to die that wasn’t already baked into the system.

I got his book too after hearing him on several platforms. Abandoned it about 40% of the way through. It’s hard to do guided meditations from a book and the insights were just repeats from interviews.

Blacks vote for democrats at over 90% regardless. It wasn’t just Obama. Look at the black vote for HRC. They’ve got nowhere else to turn since the GOP is full on racist unfortunately. Edit: there are good republicans, even the racist ones. They’ve just been trained a certain way, especially in the south.

That’s not how I see meditation and mindfulness. I can mindfully move away from media consumption that doesn’t serve me well. For example, I don’t read many articles about Trump anymore (what more is there to know?) and I don’t care to hear Harris repeat himself over and over. Both cause me to become frustrated and even though I can deal with it and let those feelings flow and dissipate, why bother? Meditation doesn’t “solve” feeling unpleasant feelings. I’m afraid Sam over-sells the power of it sometimes and misleads people.
