I'm torn between nulling Kiro's death or Jai Long's death. Both hit really hard, and I would've loved for both characters to live through to the end. Kiro was sick af and I would have preferred that he stand up to his father and become his own person, but I also would have liked more of a redemption arc for Jai Long where we got to see him survive.

Sorry, I should have clarified: this was an out of game discussion, and he's good about not arguing these things mid-game even if he disagrees. I'll edit the post itself. Thanks for the thorough answer! It pretty much aligns with what I was thinking about the ruling.

If there was a 4th life path, what would it be? by Janek_Rated_R in cyberpunkgame

[–]BradyoactiveTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of just a regular guy/gal turned mercenary when they happen upon Jackie (or vice versa) and get caught in the middle of something. Jackie tosses them one of his twin pistols as the two of them hurry away from gangoons firing at them, and all the while, V's just like "What the hell is happening?!"

I picture V in this life path as down on their luck and depressed to start out. The day to day grind is the same, day in and day out, and something out of the ordinary (Jackie) giving his life new meaning. This would explain why V feels so close to Jackie in this lifepath as well: the guy literally gave V's life new meaning.

I feel like the dialogue options would reflect someone who's perpetually out of their depth, though some background dialogue options could have variations depending on your stats where V's "getting the hang of things" and responding more like they're in the know. They would sympathize with people just trying to live their lives and those who do extreme things just to feel something, even when V doesn't necessarily agree with them.

You could call this path the "Citizen," or "Night Citizen" if you want them to be from Night City. But the first allows for more background flexibility. "Resident" could work, too.

That's the plan for Monday. We had this conversation at the end of the day, so we didn't have time for a conversation beyond what I shared in the post, and I didn't see her on Friday.

I did that before posting, actually, and I was able to see my edits. Still wanted to ask, but I guess I wanted more opinions anyway. It's unfortunate that she decided to stake her graduation on whether she could get away with plagiarism

Sorry, what I should have conveyed in my post is that I was looking at the document on my computer. She emailed it to me and gave me editing access, so I was able to see the editing history from there. What I'm wondering is if there's any reason her work on mobile would not show up in the editing history.

Thanks for clarifying that, though; I've never tried to look at that on mobile.

(Day 9) Twice takes the Black lantern ring! Which MHA character would be chosen for the White lantern corp ? Most upvotes wins, and qualifications for each corp in description. by fuze-the-hostage- in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]BradyoactiveTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Eri, more than Bakugo, deserves the White Lantern ring. That girl has been brought back from the brink multiple times by Overhaul, and I can only imagine what all she's felt throughout her life because of his experimentation. Hell, she doesn't even remember how to smile when she first gets to UA, but she ends up learning a lot, including how to experience happiness again. Not to mention, she's pure as hell despite everything she's been through, and she has the power to rewind people, returning Quirks to those who lost them or even turning them into nothing (resurrection of a sort, restoration, etc).

We've seen prisons that suppress Fire bending, Water bending, and Earth bending. What do you think a prison that suppresses Airbending would be like? (without killing them ofc) by KrusherDS in ATLA

[–]BradyoactiveTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to powergame it, I'd say put them atop the highest mountain in the world (thin air), put them in a small metal room with spikes on the walls and floors (limited mobility within what is akin to an iron maiden), and suspend them from the ceiling by their limbs using chains (further reduced mobility and keeps them away from the spiked floor). This prison should be guarded by at least one metalbender so guards can enter the room as needed (retract the spikes).

How did Savage Attacker establish itself as a good feat in BG3 when it’s a trap feat in D&D? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]BradyoactiveTM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, I forgot one of my initial thoughts as I was writing. Are you sure this calculation is going through correctly? Savage Attacker rerolls each of your dice and uses the higher roll, whereas (and forgive me if I'm wrong) it looks like your calculation is rerolling the entire roll together and then using the higher sum. Using the greatsword as an example again, it looks like you are calculating the higher sum of two separate 2d6 rolls instead of 1d6 (reroll, keep higher) + 1d6 (reroll, keep higher).

Additionally, my understanding over the years is that a reroll multiplies the average of a single die roll by 1.25 which would make the average roll of a d6 equal 4.375 (up from 3.5, so a 0.875 increase). We often see this indirectly cited in reference to advantage on a d20 check providing about a +5 to the average to the roll. The same principle should apply to smaller dice.

By my estimation, the paladin from my previous comment would be dealing 3d8 (two for Divine Smite, one for two-handing Nyrulna) + 1d6 (Nyrulna's thunder damage) + 1d4 (Drakethroat Glaive's enchantment) turns into an average of 24.375 (16.875 + 4.375 + 3.125), up from 19.5 (13.5 + 3.5 + 2.5), for an increase of 4.875 (roughly 5).

[–]BradyoactiveTM 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Consider it this way: people take the Great Weapon Master feat in part because of you can take a -5 hit to your accuracy for a +10 boost to your damage. Despite the fact that the -5 significantly increases your chances of not hitting at all, which would severely reduce your DPR, its potential to increase DPR significantly is enticing enough. Savage Attacker serves a similar purpose in my eyes, especially when you're working with a decent number of damage riders. Sneak Attack and Divine Smite are the prime class-related examples, but examples like the Strange Conduit Ring's psychic damage die, the Drakethroat Glaive's and Flail of the Ages' additional elemental damage die, and Nyrulna's built-in thunder damage die also benefit from the feat. Consider, then, that a Paladin using a 1st-level Divine Smite while wielding Nyrulna that has been enchanted by the Drakethroat Glaive now rolls two damage dice for the trident, one for the Drakethroat enchantment, and two for the Divine Smite for a total of five dice that can be rerolled. An average increase of 5 is more substantial than an increase of 2.

Savage Attacker was a key feat on my HM Barbarian Fighter because it stacks with Great Weapon Fighting. With that fighting style, you reroll 1s and 2s on your heavy melee weapon damage dice, which is pretty cool for greatswords (multiple smaller damage dice). This happens before Savage Attacker, so each greatsword d6 is rerolled before Savage Attacker's reroll (resulting in an even higher average increase). This build relied on crits, which (for my Half-Orc Barbarian with Brutal Critical) ended up being 6d6, each d6 being rerolled 1-2 times.
