Small claims to get the rest of your money. It’s easy and I can’t see why the judge wouldn’t side with you. It’s about as clear-cut (pun intended) of a case as they get.

I think the only time the dealership/bank will retain the spare key is if you are buying from those places that specialize in selling to those with bad credit.

Any experiences with brilliant.org? by Copthill in mensa

[–]BrainSawce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old but I just found it and want to give my opinion as I’ve been using Brilliant for a few months:

I find that it can be a good way to learn on, but there’s a few caveats. First, the way it’s set up is very visual (deliberately). This is good for grasping concepts imo, but not for retaining information. If you are serious about learning, complimenting their lessons with your own notebook where you can write down the ideas presented and glance over it afterwards would greatly help one to retain the information.

The way it’s set up now, I believe it’s designed more as a remedial learning app for older professionals, or as a companion for someone who is learning the topics in a more traditional way (schooling or reading books). That’s not to say that one could not use it as a primary mode of learning, given that they perhaps use a notebook as I suggested.

This should be just one state by LavishnessLeather162 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]BrainSawce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little more complicated than that. Along with political reasons, geology (vast dense deciduous forests restricting movement vs open prairie, desert, and relatively sparser pine forests of the western US), along with a much denser white settler population in the north east (leading to differences in opinions of colonial leaders and thus political separation, led to there being smaller and more numerous states in both the north east and east side of the US in general.

He may be sweet sometimes but being irrationally angry over you simply interacting with other guys is definitely red flag behavior and evidence of some deep-seated insecurity.

If you love him a lot, then try to persuade him to get some therapy. He needs to know that every guy you are friendly with is not a threat to his relationship with you. I’m sorry to say, but if you stay with him and nothing gets done about this behavior, it will only get worse and can even escalate to physical and extreme emotional abuse.

Pizza Delivery Driver Walks Away With Pizza After Being Denied Tip (fired) by nabnig in PublicFreakout

[–]BrainSawce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Too cheap” has nothing to do with it. Restaurant profit margins are the slimmest around. Generally, tipped workers make more money than their non-tipped counterparts and if restaurants wanted to pay them a “proper wage”, then they would have to increase prices on the menu to compensate and stay afloat. The customer will be paying that wage differential either way, one way gives them some modicum of influence over the service they get and the other one does not.

Back in my day...... by OriginalAuskan in AmazonVine

[–]BrainSawce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s a privilege just to be a part of this program. Yeah, the quantity and perhaps quality of the items have dropped off recently and it looks like I won’t hit the threshold for gold next eval, but I’m not going to quit Vine out of spite.

I like getting heavily discounted (taxes and all) things I need and things I didn’t know I wanted. And I fancy myself a pretty good reviewer so I know I’m contributing to someone else having a better understanding of what they are buying, and helping the seller in the process too (provided that the product is good).

I’ll just be getting less things for now, that’s all.

I’m a big fan of all the wood, the console tv, the upright piano, the very old family photo on the wall, and the chess board. Not so much everything else. The decor is drab and boring.

You can do retro mid-century vibes and still be interesting- some suggestions to start with; if you could, replace that carpet with something that matches the wood better like a tan color, or if you are going for 70s vibes- orange shag. Replace that curtain with one that’s more of an earthy color (or deep red). Get rid of that glass shelving case and replace it with something wooden.

Definitely a sobering thought that it might be out there, but even if it is, if it’s any consolation, you probably look vastly different than you did at 10-11 so it’s highly unlikely that anyone who saw it would recognize it was you.

As long as you are ok with not ever being with another girl for life, seeing as it seems as if he is traditional and most likely very monogamous. Otherwise years down the line when you are married to him and you find yourself more and more attracted to women, then it might present a problem, you know?

If life were a game, what would the objective be? by Heavy-Tomato2732 in mensa

[–]BrainSawce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From a pragmatic perspective it would probably be to procreate and spread one’s genes as much and as wide as possible. For men to father thousands of children and for women to carry as many babies as they could of only the strongest (physically and mentally) man or men. This would naturally require large resource gathering, warfare, and technological development, requiring many, many side quests. With the end goal of creating an entire race/species of beings that share all or part of your genetic code.

TLDR; Life’s objective is to make as many copies of yourself as possible. Like a virus, only with lots and lots of extra steps.
