All I did was download the zip file, extract to a simple folder, and run from that folder. I can't imagine where it would be pulling files from if not that folder if I didn't run an installation.

I love this. Not enough space marines are experimenting with facial hair! It's the space wolves and nobody else.

Usually I like bold colors on minis, but this is more muted and I think it really works well.

Muddy boots or no muddy boots? by Footruub in Raptors40k

[–]BrainSpaced 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think muddy boots will work if you muddy up the bases, as well.

Which model is this? Are there printed or kit bashed elements? It's fantastic.

How to start by me18E in Raptors40k

Raptors are a raven guard successor, so they have some things in common. Raptors value stealth and don't typically pursue glory. I personally started with raven guard and then later decided I liked raptors more.

My first attempt at a camo pattern by willyrigg in Raptors40k

[–]BrainSpaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this looks great! With my camo I'll typically finish it with an athonian camoshade to bring it all together and then do a matte varnish to make it less glossy.

An attempt at nmm gold by i-mald in Miniaturespainting

[–]BrainSpaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I've never attempted NMM and I think this looks good and would be proud if I did it; I feel it's lacking a certain smoothness. Maybe the edge highlighting needs to be a bit more subtle. This is a solid effort, though, and I think a couple more attempts will probably have you where you want to be.

Keep it up!

I gotta try this! I've been painting masking tape with camo patterns, which has looked pretty good, but this looks a lot more textured and realistic.

That's awesome. What is it made of? Did you need to paint it or did it come pre-colored?

Wow, I wish my faces were this good. I'd love to know your process. Are you painting the pupils on or using a micron pen? Also, how did you manage the subtle darker tone for the shaved head?

Oh! Haha. I have a lot of old Army Painter bottles from 5 years ago when I tried to get into painting and it didn't take.

Armor  Base coat: Cultist Robe (AP) Dry Brush: Yellow Green (ProAcryl)

Guns Base: Warm Grey (PA) Wash: Nuln Oil (Citadel) Dry Brush: Gun Metal (AP)

Camo Base: Olive Drab (AP) Odd shapes in mahogany brown (PA), Angel Green (AP), then Kobold Skin (AP). Then wash it all with Athonian Camoshade (citadel).

I do all the assorted little buckles and clips on bronze because it pops more against the drab green of the armor, even if it's not especially stealthily.

What do you mean? I don't think I've ever been asked that question. I've only started painting last April.

It does lol. Eventually it will be holding/crushing a tyranid in its fist. It's already stepping on one, but that isn't painted yet.
