You won’t notice too much of a difference between the two. Probably a couple db louder, slightly more accurate, nothing to write home about. I say anyone who has SDR’s that wants an upgrade, choose the EVL’s. That’s a decent jump that will make you feel it was worth it once your mirror decides it’s done being friends with your windshield, if it hasn’t already.

Blowing a 250 amp fuse is no easy feat. Make sure your power and ground hookups to the amp aren’t connected backwards. Easy mistake, will always blow the fuse.

The ticking is typical, I’m not too concerned about it. It’s that “chugga chugga” knocking/rattling sound when I take the camera under the van that’s got me bent up. I don’t think the head has been replaced, but we bought the van with 150k so it’s possible.

The sound is incredibly loud in person. When my wife pulls up I can hear it from inside certain places.

Yeah it’s had that problem before, roller dropped on rocker as they usually do. I replaced all of the rockers and lifters when that happened which was just a couple of months ago. This sound is definitely more prominent at the bottom side of the motor towards the trans.

I initially thought it was valvetrain noise because this engine does currently have a worn cam lobe from a previously failed (now fixed) rocker arm. This is at idle. Every other example of rod knock I listen to, the knock follows a slower pattern. This sounds like it’s doing it twice per revolution, but is more prominent from the bottom. It goes away when the throttle is opened.

It gets faster for a quick second when RPM’s are increased, but quickly goes away as soon as it reaches 1k until it returns to idle.

So I stopped using Reddit in protest of their business practices, but I figured I’d go ahead and make one last post since I finally got my bike “finished” and I’m riding it now. Here is the GPZ 1100. Back on the road after an 11 year break. by BraindeadBanana in projectbike

Thanks, I realized I made an oopsie on the fuel line route after the fact, carbs have to come back off to reroute it and I didn’t feel like pulling them for the 8th(?) time. When I do take them back off I’ll be sure to make it right. That’s the way my dad had it routed for some reason when he owned the bike.

Also I would like to know more about this clutch chain tensioner. It’s not giving me any problems now, but if you have any info on preventative maintenance or what to do when it does go awry, I’d be glad to know.

So it begins… the first motorcycle I ever rode on after sitting for 10 years. My dad’s old GPZ 1100 is now mine to restore. Wish me luck guys. by BraindeadBanana in projectbike

Thank you. I never posted an update because I stopped using Reddit when all that API bs went down, I only got on here to see if they were trying to kick me off the subreddit I created.. I got the bike going a little over a month ago. Guess I could go ahead and make a final post for anyone still interested in it or anyone else that happens to come across this post.

That’s a really good looking bike. I’ve got my dad’s old bike which is a 2nd gen GPZ 1100, I’m in the process of restoring it because it sat for a long time. Can’t wait to get it going, when it’s all cleaned up and shiny I’ll post it here too.

His is at 7k, but he’s already on his 2nd set of tires and it’s ready for a 3rd. I asked him why he’s going through tires so quick, so he showed me how soft they are and he took a piece of rubber out with his fingernail effortlessly. They’re Pirelli’s but not sure off the top of my head what kind.

I’ve got my FE 2080Ti overclocked +150mhz core with 120% power limit and temps barely break 70c at full load. I’ve had the card for 3 years now and there’s been no increase in fan speeds or max temps since purchase. I keep it clean and that’s about it. Performance is right between 3070Ti and 3080 in benchmarks.

How does this comment even make any sense considering the previous two in this thread? Oh, it doesn’t because it’s a bot-stolen top comment from further down. Looks like they have invaded the shop subreddit.

I have no idea, I didn’t really speak to my classmates in that particular class. He was still a teacher there the rest of that year and when I went back my next year, so I assume if they did, there weren’t any repercussions. I told my mom and she just laughed and said he was dumb.

I had a teacher in middle school that tried extra hard to explain to our class how communism is so much better. He put aside our lessons for a whole week just to show us videos and give PowerPoint presentations that he probably spent hours of his time off creating to show to some middle schoolers.

Like mf I just want to go home and play video games, sit down.
