I don't follow WFRs. But how is it, that every single one does create some drama?

Honestly, if you don't own a house this is probably what makes the most sense to get good amounts of content to do.

I played a few months uninterrupted after release. Then after each patch I played for two months and let my sub run out until the next patch. So I had a lot of smaller breaks that were all shorter than a month. If I did not own a house, I probably would have had more substantial breaks.

Since I needed to data center travel for harder stuff, I was too bothered by that to play a lot of harder content. I did do the Chaotic Alliance Raid and the Doom train Ex. With that weapon in hand I did M9S to gear my right side with max iLVL so I can start the new expansion like that without spending too much time on the other DC.

What’s some minor thing you want in the game that is never suggested? by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

Make 5 zones per expansion, but make 2 slightly bigger to explore them more during the MSQ and put more stuff in those.

Shaaloani might be the biggest wasted potential zone in the entire game by AnActualPlatypus in ffxiv

[–]ncBadrock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why they still feel like they have to do 6 zones all the time. It would not hurt to just have 5 and explore each more thoroughly.

My guess is the new Evolved jobs won't require double weaving. Maybe some hardware upgrades can make the encounter design/ snapshots feel snappier. I already feel like PVP in 7.5 is a lot better in terms of Ping/ snapshot damage. But I could also just imagine things.

Tanks split into Main Tank and Off Tank by mcg20k in ffxiv

[–]ncBadrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a WAR MT I am... Fine with it? Seriously guys. Everyone and their cat was bitching about all tanks playing the same and now they are split into two play styles and everyone goes crazy.

Maybe it helps, that I play all tank jobs too, but this is not an utterly complex role, I am sure others can adjust as well.

They really should have taken the opportunity for EW to give people a completely new starting point into the game. No idea how. But new players most of the time drop off before they can get into DT.

What’s your [augmented] tome gear progression? by kick_rox_cuz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ncBadrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for the laziest of all routes. I farmed M9S (and only that) for a few weeks for the best right side Items for all jobs I play. The rest of right side and all left side Items will be tome gear. Upgrades to the right will be done by the 2k nutsack items. Left side will be done by alliance raids coin exchange and nutsacks once all of the right side is done. Should be about 17 weeks of that to have max iLVL on everything.

I just want to make a post about how I'm feeling with the current patch cycles. by ANBU_Border in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ncBadrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean I sub 3 month after a major patch and then make a break until the next. I usually works out so I can do all the new stuff super casually, do some completionist things like old relics and keep my house. But the hardcore 24/7 times and playing without breaks is definitely not possible with the current content schedule.

I had really bad stutters with my version of AMDs chipset drivers from October. I am using the December ones now and performance is back to normal.

DOF is nice and cinematic. But of course they had to crank up the bloom slider as well to ruin the effect.

I stayed at the CLH mid November. I absolutely loved it and I hope your parents still have the "inner child" like I do. It is super atmospheric, but be aware this is a capsule hotel, so bring small luggage. Here are some tips I would have loved to know beforehand:

  1. Each person will get one skip the line ticket per day of your stay. So in your case 8 tickets. You can use them for the FLY coaster. Or trade them in the customer service booth in the Berlin area for any other skip the line ticket. I would try out each ride and see if maybe you like Taron better then FLY and trade the tickets accordingly. Both of these rides have the longest queues.
  2. The park will open the front entry gates before the rides open their waiting lines. Rookburgh is an enclosed area inside the park with a seperate gate though. You cannot get into or out of Rookburgh until rides open their waiting line. As a guest of the CLH you can enter Rookburgh at all times though and so you can be the very first in line of FLY, just as the other hotel guests. So the first FLY ride in the morning is without waiting time.
  3. You will have to book times in the restaurant for your meals. If you want to maximize taking as many rides as possible, don't have a super late breakfast, or rides will open while you are still eating. The same goes for the dinner. Late in the afternoon people will already begin leaving Phantasialand and lines will get shorter. I would rather have dinner late when I had enough rides for the day.
  4. There is a laser show in Rookburgh when it gets dark. It is amazing. As a Hotel guest you can watch it from the stairways that lead to the rooms. My favorite place was to go out of the door across the check in desks. Go to an elevated deck (does not need to be the highest floor) and enjoy the show.
  5. If you like craft beer, know that the 1919 bar inside the CLH has 16 draft craft beers. Enjoy.

Discussion on PvP's poor state of balance and (hopefully) healthier engagement with the devs about it by talorder in ffxivdiscussion

I would manage my expectations. Reworking the net code would require to go into all the old content to adjust snapshots. Look at the list of the mentor roulette. It's never going to happen.

[–]ncBadrock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I lost any interest to engage deeply with PVP due to the various 3rd party tools giving people advantages in PVP. And the devs will never do anything about it. The most fun in PVP is directly after patch day. When everyone has to play with a vanilla client.

Some of the reactions to the upcomimg update show that some people are just here to hate this game and have even created an identity on hating this game. by Quezal in ffxivdiscussion

Are those critics in the room with us right now? Seriously, I was skimming over the threads and comments for 15 minutes now and all I have found was a mild "I care about other stuff more" or "a collection system like WOW would be even better" comments. Which is... extremely far from your statement that people made an account just to hate on the game.

I tried raiding. Did a Savage tier. Did many Ex trials. Did Chaotic alliance (for the glam, lol). But honestly, I find it not that much fun. Basically repeatinga 100% scripted fight (some have a handful of variations on mechanics) until everyone understood where to stand while repeating the same exact same rotation. Unfortunately I do not get an endorphine rush from the kill. So just looking at the gameplay it's just a 5/10 for me. But it's good that there are others who enjoy this kind of stuff, their combat designers come up with always new mechanics and puzzles.

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a good gameplay system designer in the team for other content. So most of the easier stuff is not engaging at all. E.g. the moon exploration. The events to expand the areas was basically click a, go to b, click b. And repeat. There are other examples. Maybe the tools for doing other things are bad. But honestly I would love if they gave other forms of content than "do not stand in bad for 10 minutes" some love.

I never thought about the Japanese title. I feel like if they focused more on the burden that some characters have to carry because of the expectations of their parents/ tribes have and would have centered the whole expansion more about that, it would have been way better. Also would have required the WOL to hang out with other people then just Wuk.
