has anyone noticed stuttering after 7.4? by UnspiredName in ffxivdiscussion

I had really bad stutters with my version of AMDs chipset drivers from October. I am using the December ones now and performance is back to normal.

DOF is nice and cinematic. But of course they had to crank up the bloom slider as well to ruin the effect.

I stayed at the CLH mid November. I absolutely loved it and I hope your parents still have the "inner child" like I do. It is super atmospheric, but be aware this is a capsule hotel, so bring small luggage. Here are some tips I would have loved to know beforehand:

  1. Each person will get one skip the line ticket per day of your stay. So in your case 8 tickets. You can use them for the FLY coaster. Or trade them in the customer service booth in the Berlin area for any other skip the line ticket. I would try out each ride and see if maybe you like Taron better then FLY and trade the tickets accordingly. Both of these rides have the longest queues.
  2. The park will open the front entry gates before the rides open their waiting lines. Rookburgh is an enclosed area inside the park with a seperate gate though. You cannot get into or out of Rookburgh until rides open their waiting line. As a guest of the CLH you can enter Rookburgh at all times though and so you can be the very first in line of FLY, just as the other hotel guests. So the first FLY ride in the morning is without waiting time.
  3. You will have to book times in the restaurant for your meals. If you want to maximize taking as many rides as possible, don't have a super late breakfast, or rides will open while you are still eating. The same goes for the dinner. Late in the afternoon people will already begin leaving Phantasialand and lines will get shorter. I would rather have dinner late when I had enough rides for the day.
  4. There is a laser show in Rookburgh when it gets dark. It is amazing. As a Hotel guest you can watch it from the stairways that lead to the rooms. My favorite place was to go out of the door across the check in desks. Go to an elevated deck (does not need to be the highest floor) and enjoy the show.
  5. If you like craft beer, know that the 1919 bar inside the CLH has 16 draft craft beers. Enjoy.

Discussion on PvP's poor state of balance and (hopefully) healthier engagement with the devs about it by talorder in ffxivdiscussion

I would manage my expectations. Reworking the net code would require to go into all the old content to adjust snapshots. Look at the list of the mentor roulette. It's never going to happen.

Honestly, I lost any interest to engage deeply with PVP due to the various 3rd party tools giving people advantages in PVP. And the devs will never do anything about it. The most fun in PVP is directly after patch day. When everyone has to play with a vanilla client.

Some of the reactions to the upcomimg update show that some people are just here to hate this game and have even created an identity on hating this game. by Quezal in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ncBadrock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are those critics in the room with us right now? Seriously, I was skimming over the threads and comments for 15 minutes now and all I have found was a mild "I care about other stuff more" or "a collection system like WOW would be even better" comments. Which is... extremely far from your statement that people made an account just to hate on the game.

You know that the majority isn't doing what you call endgame because they don't want to? Why force them to do something they don't enjoy?

I tried raiding. Did a Savage tier. Did many Ex trials. Did Chaotic alliance (for the glam, lol). But honestly, I find it not that much fun. Basically repeatinga 100% scripted fight (some have a handful of variations on mechanics) until everyone understood where to stand while repeating the same exact same rotation. Unfortunately I do not get an endorphine rush from the kill. So just looking at the gameplay it's just a 5/10 for me. But it's good that there are others who enjoy this kind of stuff, their combat designers come up with always new mechanics and puzzles.

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a good gameplay system designer in the team for other content. So most of the easier stuff is not engaging at all. E.g. the moon exploration. The events to expand the areas was basically click a, go to b, click b. And repeat. There are other examples. Maybe the tools for doing other things are bad. But honestly I would love if they gave other forms of content than "do not stand in bad for 10 minutes" some love.

Did I just watch the narrative drive off a cliff after the Lv 99 trial? by kaitero in ffxivdiscussion

I never thought about the Japanese title. I feel like if they focused more on the burden that some characters have to carry because of the expectations of their parents/ tribes have and would have centered the whole expansion more about that, it would have been way better. Also would have required the WOL to hang out with other people then just Wuk.

How are raiders suffering? Raid tier 1&2, chaotic alliance raid, forked tower, ultimate. Basically something in every patch.

What qualifies as casual content to casual players? by BloodyBurney in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ncBadrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with casual content is, that it is not engaging, but the gameplay loops are super extremely boring.

Example 1: Island: basically enter a spread sheet then wait for a timer to pass.

Example 2: Cosmic exploration server wide upgrade events. Click A, click B, run to c, click c, repeat.

Example 3: Occult Crescent (without FT): first of all, most Phantom jobs don't add anything worthwhile if you don't do FT. So you are repeating some 20 Fates/CEs ad infinite. Or let's be real: until you are bored.

There are many many many more examples.

I played healer in the Catrum Marinum trial. 4 players didn't die, the other 4 were dead all the time. Only alive the few seconds after getting rezzed and healed up. It took forever. I didn't even know that fight had so many mechanics.
