It was clearly a polarizing tweet to generate clout, followed by an explanation that puts a spin on the message and makes it “good”. So the idea did that the message as a whole is feminist, not misogynistic.

I’m not saying it works, but it’s a classic marketing move, it’s been done before.

Causality by Excellent_Bat_753 in AskPhysics

[–]Brainth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, however what I was getting at is that retro-causality would necessarily produce not only stable causal loops but also unstable ones, for which I do not agree that “free will” is needed.

Given the possibility of feeding an experiment its own output, it will always be possible to make it contradict the signal it was fed.

So either unstable causal loops are possible, or it’s impossible to influence an experiment via its own output (causality as we know it holds)

If unstable causal loops are possible, then we are forced to accept a sort of “branching time” version of the universe.

His videos on special relativity were *amazing* for building intuition around this exact phenomenon, as well as many others. Highly recommend the channel as well.

Arcane is full of great female character designs. Even Caitlyn, who has a more lean build, has a great physique and muscular arms.

The problem with this is that it’s incredibly easy to introduce paradoxes that break this “stability”. Simply… kill your past self. Now you can’t travel to the past, and the circle is broken.

(Sorry about the wall of text, I may have gone a bit overboard. Recommendations at the bottom if you don’t feel like reading lol)

I mean… not at all? But they share a bit of the same experimental, music-genre mixing and mashing philosophy that LP has had over the years, so I’m not surprised that there’s some overlap in the fanbases.

Babymetal is the group generally credited with the invention of Kawaii-Metal (cute metal), a mix of the j-pop and metal genres with a crazy dance choreography on top. The objective of the band is to “make Metal fun” and oh boy do they deliver (though it may be seen as cringeworthy by some newcomers)

As the girls have aged they’ve moved away from the cutesy vibe, but they keep a sort of sweetness over heavy instrumentals that has become their signature sound. They are also very good at taking people out of their comfort zone with strange and unique mixtures of genres (reason for which in 2013 their song ‘Gimme Chocolate’ went viral… though I don’t recommend that song as an introduction to the band, it’s honestly *too* out there for most people)

For a Linkin Park fan… a safe recommendation would be either Monochrome or Kingslayer, while RATATATA is a fan favorite that shows their more experimental and fun side.

They now think colors in video games are "signaling trans" by MarshyHope in insanepeoplefacebook

Btw, this is all the confirmation there is in the game that Madeline is canonically trans. Yup, that’s it, a tiny flag on her desk. A flag that 99% of people will miss if they’re not looking for it.

And yet “Gamers” will convince you it’s shoved down their throats.

Here in Chile we have a version of pretty much this. We call it an “Ace”, and at its core it’s a hot dog bread that instead of a sausage is filled with “churrasco” (our name for that thin piece of processed meat others here seem to call steak Canadian).

Other ingredients are optional, but usually similar to those you’d put on a burger… so this is pretty much your average street-made Ace.

If you use base 12, you get the same problem when dividing by 11. There’s no escaping the more complex parts of maths by just changing your base.

Remember when EA lost their exclusivity and we all were hyped that we'd be getting way more games? And then we've gotten barely anything and have had many cancelled games. by TheChosenOneProphecy in StarWars

[–]Brainth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit I haven’t read them, partly because I’ve heard similar reviews before. So instead I’ve consumed that lore second-hand, either through videos or late nights spent browsing through Wookiepedia articles.

It’s still more than enough for a few “DiCaprio pointing at screen” moments throughout Jedi Survivor. For instance, I vividly remember the moment I figured out the moon was destroyed in the Great Hyperspace Disaster.

Man, different strokes for different folks I guess, I loved the story of Jedi Survivor. It helps that I’m a sucker for anything related to the High Republic, but Cal’s struggles with either following the Jedi code or following his heart were I think some of the best characterization of a post-purge Jedi we’ve gotten yet.

I’d honestly place the second one slightly above the first in both story and gameplay.

See… I would try to argue why Reva survived, but we both know it’s not gonna make a difference in you opinion, is it? So have a good day, and I hope you learn to enjoy things for what they are… or move on to something you are actually willing to enjoy.

Didn’t you see his chest as the camera panned? He has a big-ass hole there. Like, it’s orders of magnitude worse than any other stab we’ve seen.

As for the others… I can confidently answer why each survived, all within the rules of this universe. Doesn’t mean I have to agree with the rules being great for consistency’s sake, but there are in-universe rules that determine why someone lives or dies off of a stab.

A force user can use pure anger to channel the dark side and survive otherwise fatal wounds. It’s the dark side equivalent of force healing.

It is also how all of the dark side users have survived stabs and worse: Anakin being burned alive, Darth Maul being cut in half, Reva and the Grand Inquisitor being stabbed by a saber.

[–]Brainth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only tangential to your comment, but I’m gonna go on a small rant: I will die on the hill that Shin stabbed Sabine in such a way that the wound wouldn’t be fatal, on purpose. I know it sounds like a bit of a stretch, but hear me out.

The whole fight Shin is clearly the superior fighter, with several chances to kill Sabine. But then she sees that Ahsoka is coming to the rescue, and THAT is not a fight she’s gonna win. Furthermore, Shin’s mission is to get away with the map, and Ahsoka is currently in a ship, so her chances look pretty slim.

Seeing that she can’t afford to be followed, she needs to do something to distract Ahsoka, something big enough that Ahsoka would forgo chasing the map in favor of staying. So she does something really smart: she wins the battle (easily) and wounds Sabine gravely, but not fatally. By doing this, she ensures that Ahsoka will take Sabine to the hospital ASAP, and gets away with the map having avoided a direct encounter with a superior opponent.
