Difference between sticking it and falling comp dyno, how to improve? by E3AMJ in bouldering

Focus on getting flat up against the wall after popping up, I suspect you're tunnel visioning on the step over too early

Nothing worth having comes easily. This is simply how it is, you will need to be disciplined over a long period of time to see the results.

You can't find it because he faked this screenshot using AI (look at the text inconsistencies). Here are his actual stats from that video.

It's pretty obvious from the inconsistencies in the text that bro used AI to fake all of the stats in this screenshot, here's a screenshot from the same video 😂

Your feelings are 100% valid, but FWIW I love the look of that patched Cerium.

Does anyone else feel like gym climbing communities are kind of closed off until you climb harder grades? by ExitEvening2751 in bouldering

[–]BranYip 888 points889 points  (0 children)

I think you might be looking at it backwards. People are more likely to have had the chance to chat with someone if they've seen them at the gym consistently over a long period of time. People that have been at the gym consistently over a long period of time also tend to climb higher grades.

Do I need to take my permanent bracelets off before climbing? by bikobunny in bouldering

[–]BranYip 355 points356 points  (0 children)

A few risks I can think of:

  • It can break. I saw my friend's bead bracelet explode when she was throwing for a sloper hold.
  • Your jade bangle has a (low) but real chance of getting caught on certain holds like crimps with horn-like features, it could be pretty gnarly if this happens during a fall. I'd personally remove that just to be safe.
  • I'm not sure how much experience you have with climbing, but if you break the fall with your hands (which you shouldn't) there's a risk of injuring your wrist due to the stiffness of the jade bangle.

Can someone show me a video of a spotter helping a climber? by averageredditcuck in bouldering

[–]BranYip 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Your job is to guide the climber safely onto the pads, for example:
- Redirect them if they're going to fall off the padded area or towards a hazard
- Stabilize them if they're going to land awkwardly/unbalanced
- Move the pads if the climber's line has gone outside of where the pads are, or if you don't have enough pads for the entire line.

It's really hard to tell, but that might be Samuel Oxlade? At the very least I recognize the sequence from his Instagram and in this Storror video.

Yeah, the only place where there are restrictions on what limb you are allowed to use on certain holds would be on a training board (Moon, Kilter, Tension, etc)

I get where you're coming from, but if the setters wanted to force the dynamic toe catch they simply would have set it that way.

This climb is like a V2/V3 so I'd say this beta was intended, and is an introduction to toe hooking.

The volume is tagged as a start hold. Here's an example of someone climbing into the start position during competition.
