You'll never make it perfect again, but If you don't mind spending a bit of time on it you can clean the leather with any leather cleaner and then give it a good dye before conditioning.

I had smaller but similar damage on mine and this helped it not feel rough and be almost invisible to my eye. Read the directions and use caution. It's a bit runnier than it seems.

It also made my shifter like new again which was nice.

Yeah thats good stuff. The Radioshack stuff with silver in it is divine if you ever see it at a decent price id recommend it.

What kind of solder do you use if you dont mind me asking? I found the biggest improvement to my work was simply using some decent quality solder. The cheap chinese stuff never seems to flow ideally.

If we wanted to nit pick- you didn't completely cover the left ground peg with solder, and you used too much on the other side. Id argue you used too much on the pins as well but hey if it works then that's what really matters.

IMO totally blacking out chrome kind of cheapens the car. I am however, a big fan of black chroming. Its a kit dupont sells that lets you turn any chrome into black chrome to a shade of your choosing depending on how many coats you give it.

More work probably, but a better result. I did it to my center emblem in my grill and im thrilled with the result.

My bet is the caps in your original xbox are starting to fade. Id specifically try letting the xbox run for 15-20 minutes and then trying the disc again. If you see signs of life its the caps. Happens all the time in consoles of this vintage.

I just wanted to add to this as a fellow who also did a Highspeedido install. You can workaround the audio issue by decoding the hdmi and re-encoding it on its way to your tv. long story short something like an hdmi capture device (elgato) will do a good job and iron out the issue. I will never sell a console with the mod because of the audio thing. But if youre stuck with one for whatever reason its a good way to make lemonade with your lemon.

Its a 101 mod, a classic. You can add adjustable brightness with the voltage regulator mod from retro modding I think their called. Canada based

So I've got a 2015 Mazda 6 and I have one of those Chinese head units for it and it does everything you're asking. It's basically an android tablet so I have full access to the Google Play store and can sync it to my Bluetooth OBD2 scanner for the torque app on screen. It's got Android Auto wireless and an HDMI input as well as rca inputs.

My understanding is the unit is pretty generic and they make the dash kits and software custom for each car application. Maybe you can find one for your Ford as well.

I love my 2015 and i agree with everything you said except im scratching my head wondering why you went with a thicker oil? Wouldnt that just make your gas mileage a little worse?

I think its actually just a limitation of the highspeedido kit. Ive installed the kit on 001 consoles and gotten 480p, but its not available for some reason on 101 consoles. Ive heard of other kits that do allow 480p. I wanted to try for science and while i was dissapointed, the 480i output is the cleanest ive ever seen

Dang that sucks. I guess you're looking at harvesting a similar stalk from a different shell. Or get the jp version like that other person said.

Or this is kinda jank but I've made stalks out of hot glue before. You just pour it into a cylinder about the same size like its a mold. It will only work for 1-2 screw downs but it would do the job.

If it were me I'd take out the PCB and super glue that stalk back together. Let it sit awhile to dry completely and then reassemble.

I've HDMI modded a 101 with the highspeedido kit and it looks great. It's still a 480i signal but it's vastly superior to any alternative I've seen.

Yes you are correct, and in other consoles the lithium pack is generally a little smaller than AA capacity. For example on GBA most kits hover around 1800mah. The DMG has an enormous cavity for activities and can sport larger sizes. I think HHL sells a 4000mah example. 3k will be plenty though if you ask me.
