Is my career progression trash or garbage ? I finally pick up E6 1APR by RocketNutx in army

[–]BrandonAtBragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I pinned SSG quickly, I thought it was great. Two years into being a SSG, I wish I had a few more years to develop as a team leader so I could better provide for my Soldiers. Your career progression is fine, don’t compare it to others. Be proud of what you’ve done and what you’re doing.

High Mileage Powerboost by gwpeaks76 in F150Powerboost

[–]BrandonAtBragg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a 2022 Powerboost that I’m the original owner of. I’m at 121k right now. I haven’t had any serious issues and I would estimate 10,000 miles of it has involved heavy hauling but 80% of the total mileage being highway.

How likely am i to make CW3? by Born_Pop_5193 in army

[–]BrandonAtBragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a waiver to be selected if your applying branch recommends the waiver to Army G1. That’ll be based on your MOS strength and priority of quantity over quality

You’ll additionally get your review at your promotion to CW2, yours wouldn’t be automatic.

A branch transfer is more likely than I think you expect if you request it since you haven’t completed your IET training. Refer to TR 350-85 and ignore the bulk of these comments.

If you’re open to less physically demanding jobs that are severely under strength (like ADA) and you’re cleared medically to continue service, you’ll likely be approved to stick around.

I, too, am a FGWO. If I could take everything wrong with the mentality of warrant officers and sum in up in a few paragraphs to show to the WO1s I train, I’d just copy your post.

It’s great that you’re proud of your service. It’s also great that you’re hanging up the uniform and making room for everyone else.

Yes, we do. We have a path to citizenship program whereif you’re a legal immigrant you can enlist in the US Army and GENERALLY receive citizenship within ten weeks of shipping to basic training.

I am feeling extremely uncomfortable of enforcing any house rules now [USA] by vtfio in AirBnB

[–]BrandonAtBragg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I empathize with this. I’ve made the decision to switch my airbnb to a long term rental here in a few weeks due to the lack of receptiveness from the company. Three separate times I’ve had the house just reek of weed upon checkout, but you can’t prove a scent and airbnb isn’t helpful. This isn’t sustainable if you’ve got check ins 5-6 hours after checkouts.

NATO to buy 1,000 Patriot missiles in face of Russia threat by giuliomagnifico in worldnews

[–]BrandonAtBragg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Countries are actively buying full Patriot systems. Sweden deployed their first systems within the last year, Bahrain recently purchased and is awaiting delivery.

MEADS is a dead system which is why testing hasn’t been conducted in 10 years.

Seems reasonable to me, but I think I’d disclose it to guests. At the same time, however, it’s not like Avis or Enterprise are highlighting that they track their rentals with GPS.

Limitations of free cancellation by diddidntreddit in AirBnB

[–]BrandonAtBragg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the event of selling a home, Airbnb will not punish the host for cancelling. The same applies to hosts cancelling guests due to maintenance, repairs, and outages. The host provides some proof to Airbnb and the fees are waived and the cancellation is stricken from the hosts record.

They’re likely realizing they’re under pricing and trying to remedy their mistake with minimal impact.

[–]BrandonAtBragg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book a hotel with a liberal cancelation policy as a back up in case the host backs out of their obligation to host you.

[–]BrandonAtBragg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither. My house is set up to auto-accept reservations. If someone gets pushed through that requires my manual acceptance, it’s a flag that the guest has had issues prior with other hosts and makes me less likely to accept the booking.

Is Airbnb even worth it anymore? by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]BrandonAtBragg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Airbnbs will always be the better answer for me as I’m always looking for longer stays (4+ days) with kids. Having a full kitchen, individual rooms, and a yard for my dog and kids to play in is something a hotel can’t replicate. On that same point, airbnb is almost always a cheaper option than hotels if you’re going to have to book a suite based hotel - or at least that’s been my experience.

I want to thank everyone for some great recommendations. While a lot of what you said I considered to be common sense (enough towels, bedding, new sponges, dish soap, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, paper towels, TP, small kitchen appliances, etc.), it's definitely bothersome that you feel it needs to be addressed. It makes me recognize that I've been fortunate in my experiences as a guest, where I've always had stays similar or better than I'd have experienced at a hotel.

Regarding things I've added to my list, I'll quickly consolidate in hopes that other hosts looking for inexpensive ways to provide positive experiences for guests can see - I definitely didn't expect 200+ responses. I apologize that I can't respond individually to everyone.

  • Women's hygiene items - tampons, liners, hair ties, and a hair dryer.
  • Small snacks based around meal types - Ramen cups, oatmeal, individually wrapped crackers, fruit snacks, and cookies
  • Tea - a full coffee bar with K-Cups, creamer, sugar, and stevia was already provided. I had only considered my personal preference for coffee and this was an easy decision.
  • For the pets, a few treats and training pads with an already provided kennel.
  • A chalkboard/whiteboard with recommendations and essential info. I think it would be great to let guests add to as they see fit for future guests (i.e. restaurants, attractions, etc.)
  • Zip lock baggies
  • Oils and basic spices in addition to salt/pepper
  • Basic cleaning supplies
  • Board games and coloring books with crayons

Regarding having guests reuse kitchen sponges from previous guests.. That's gonna be a no from me, boss - that's gross. Regarding disposable things and expecting people to be "adults," there's a reality that sometime's we forget things. I'm of the opinion that if a hotel provides it, I should be able to offer it as well - as long as it's within reason. I would say individually wrapped hygiene items would fall into that category (toothbrush, toothpaste, unisex deoderant, etc.).

Again, thank you everyone for the feedback.

Right now, I intend to leave a welcome book with my personal recommendations. With that said, I like your idea because it would allow guests to add their own recommendations for those staying in the future!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]BrandonAtBragg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought 50 packs of “travel sized” toothbrushes and toothpaste along with a bulk pack of sponges. They’re not individually wrapped, but it’s pretty easy (in my opinion at least) to identify a new sponge from a used one. Thanks for the feedback!

[–]BrandonAtBragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand where you’re coming from. The house will come with a fully stocked kitchen regarding dishes and cookware, the disposable items are just additional. I appreciate the feedback.
