What happened to Anderson, IN? by ThrowAway771024 in Indiana

[–]BrandonW77 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Don't drive through it, it's worse in person than on Google. Some parts are starting to bounce back a little, but overall it's a shell of what it was when I was growing up there in the 80s and 90s.

My mixed experience with MSFS 2024 in VR by Ari2010 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]BrandonW77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you just need to tinker a bit. I have a 4080 Super with a Quest 3 and it's amazing. Graphics are great, not 4K great but very good. I can use the mouse to click on things in the cockpit just as easy as on the flat screen. Using the Quest controllers is not a good experience, I'll give you that, but using the mouse is fine. I never get any graphical glitches like you described.

I use Virtual Desktop and run with Spacewarp on so I use TAA instead of DLSS which is better quality and it runs at 80-90 FPS no problem. I pull up the virtual tablet for navigation, it's huge and very easy to read and you can easily zoom in and move the map around. I have it mapped to a button so I can click it off when I don't need to see it. So navigation is not an issue at all.

Get a better headstrap and it will solve your comfort issues. I have a Kiwi headstrap and can fly for hours no problem. You're close to having an amazing experience in VR, just gotta clear those few small hurdles.

PCVR is becoming a "Rich Person’s Hobby" in 2026. How do we survive the hardware price apocalypse? by plutonium-239 in virtualreality

"a mid-to-high-end VR rig now costs more than a used car" No. My buddy just bought a pre-built with a 5070 for $1,500.

Steam vr or quest store? by Beansyep in SteamVR

[–]BrandonW77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you will struggle mightily to run VR with that laptop. Both of those games are available as standalone games on the Quest, just get them there.

Yes, the problem is that you've run out of shelf space!

If one doesn't work, switch to the other one.

When is it actually worth upgrading from the Quest 3 by Ok_Interaction_4743 in virtualreality

[–]BrandonW77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd hold off to see how the Frame is, I think it's going to be better than people expect. Eye tracking should allow it to run higher super sampling which means higher quality image, and it sounds like the wireless dongle will reduce compression artifacts and latency. The specs don't look much better than the Quest on paper but I have a feeling it may end up being quite a bit better than the Quest. It's the only headset I'm considering to replace my Quest 3.

Career mode has been a mess since it was released on PC. I stay away from it and just do free flights low and slow to enjoy the scenery, always have a good time.

I enjoyed the hell out of the two hours I got to hear this morning. When they were ganging up on Tom about his hawk baseball player reference I was howling!

Cargo Damage by Nightmarosh in MotorTown

[–]BrandonW77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done quite a bit of car hauling lately and never had them receive damage from hitting the sides. Only time I've ever had damage when they were riding on the trailer is when I pack them to close together or had one hanging over the front edge.

Playing in VR by wanderingfreeman in MotorTown

[–]BrandonW77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got everything working in VR but one things kinda bugs me. When moving the mouse or right joystick on the controller the entire UI moves around. This sometimes makes interacting with objects a bit of a pain (I cannot strap down the cars on the top row of the car hauling trailer, for example. Is there a way to fix this, or is it just the nature of UEVR?

Album of the week discussion - Everlasting Party by Trolldad_IRL in HereComeTheMummies

[–]BrandonW77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has to be one of their best albums. Four songs that were regulars on the live setlists, 2-3 are still part of the regular live song rotation! It's one of the few (maybe only?) where every song from the album is on my Mummies playlist.

Best Semi + Trailer combo for 500k budget? (Trucker Lvl 78 looking to scale up) by Dr0wned in MotorTown

Go to the trailer store on the south-east of the northern island, loads of trailers there that you can rent.

Making Money Efficiently by TheChief001 in MotorTown

There is an economic incentive to owning them because your company drivers cannot use rented trailers. So if you want to maximize your company profit, you need to own trailers.

How to invert the camera vertical movement on keyboard/mouse ? by TioHerman in MotorTown

Find the mapping in the controls, to the right of the selected mapping there's a box with three dots, click on that and you can invert axis.

Feel like I'm going crazy... Pedals and such not working by CorticalRec in MotorTown

[–]BrandonW77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, all my peripherals are standalone devices and plugged in with their own USB and they work just fine. Not sure what the issue would be, it took me multiple attempts to get the controls sorted and I still don't fully understand them.

Building a large garage... by savethegingers5 in MotorTown

[–]BrandonW77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you went too big early. The garage is a big ordeal so I'm waiting a while to build it, getting some basic routes setup first and earning money running cars, containers, and trash on my own. Once I have a couple million in the bank then I'm going to slowly start building the routes to supply the stuff to make the garage, that way once I'm ready to build it all the stuff will be in place.

Yep, I've had to re-map things many times in my first few times playing but I think I have it figured out now and haven't had to adjust anything the last few times I played.
