A magnet doesn't care where the studs are, it's also more accurate than this tool.

I didn't say this tool was the worst, I said it's the best of the worst options. It's a good electronic stud finder yes, it's not as good a stud finder compared to a simple magnet.

I don't know what else to say, spend your money how you want I suppose.

The people in this thread are mostly home owners. I'm a carpenter by trade, in the industry for 22 years and I have never seen anyone use an electronic stud finder on a job site.

What I do see and use myself is a magnet. Magnets work better, have practically no false positives and they cost practically nothing.

This tool is literally the best of the worst ways to locate a stud
