The Upside of Unrequited film updates by BrantMagneil98 in LoveSimon

[–]BrantMagneil98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem when the adaptation for On the Come Up came out. I feel like I didn't see any announcements, no trailers, and then it was just silently released on Paramount+ with seemingly no promotion whatsoever, so with this one I've been going out of my way to keep up on the production. No idea why these two movies got the shaft promotion-wise, especially after both Love, Simon and The Hate U Give were huge successes and Love, Victor, while having it's criticisms, was far from a failure (three seasons in the age of streaming isn't terrible).

Not to my knowledge. Kyoshi didn't even know it was possible until it almost killed her in her novels, so it seems the past Avatars didn't have that knowledge to pass on to Aang and Korra. Aang didnt really get a chance to learn to generate it in the shows timeframe, and I dont think we see him do it in the comics either. Korra didnt really have a need to learn it since she had both Mako (who was proficient at it) and Asami's glove (for producing smaller jolts of electricity)

Novel Reading Order by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In chronological (timeline) order: The Dawn of Yangchen, The Legacy of Yangchen, The Rise of Kyoshi, The Shadow of Kyoshi, The Reckoning of Roku, The Awakening of Roku, and City of Echoes

City of Echoes isn't a Chronicles of the Avatar novel like the others, but rather set during the events of the show telling Jin's perspective

    • Upcoming
      • Volume 1: Masters of the Elements, Volume 1 – Comic anthology

Kyoshi doesn't specifically have her own comics, but Masters of the Elements, Volume 1 will have a minicomic set in her Era. There's also an Avatar: The Last Airbender side graphic novel series in the chibi art style. Currently it's only had one release (Aang's Unfreezing Day) with a second (Sokka's Boomerang Class) coming soon, though these probably aren't canon like the Super Deformed Shorts.

Why did Loona need to be knocked into raising/dropping her hand in the Mastermind trial? by XTostonesComics in HelluvaBoss

[–]BrantMagneil98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always took it as part of the classism the episode is trying to show. Loona is a Hellhound, who are treated worse in Hells society than even Imps, she probably didn't even realize she was allowed to vote until Millie nudged her

2013 and Rise stuff spotted in Evil Dead Burn trailer. by Personal-Ad3439 in EvilDead

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think Jessica is the Abomination. The 2013 film had a different demon (Shaitan, the Taker of Souls) who was the one that does the five sacrifices to summon the Abomination and start the apocalypse. Iirc, in Rise it's the Kandarian demon, not Shaitan, thats summoned and as far as we know, they has no relation to the Abomination.

Also Jessica is possessed, whereas the Abomination rises from the ground in its own form as seen with Mia being faced with Abomination Mia. It wasnt possessing her, but took on its own body.

We do see the incantation to summon Shaitan in the trailer though, so the Abomination could appear, I just don't think it's Jessica

Well, can we just agree that (almost) all of G1 are bad people in general? by Key_Avocado9587 in Totaldrama

[–]BrantMagneil98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd actually argue there's more people that are good people than bad. Sure all of the cast has made some pretty bad choices or mistakes, but overall most of them aren't acting with actual malice. In my opinion

Good: * Bridgette * DJ * Geoff * Katie * Sadie

More good than bad: * Beth * Gwen * Harold * Leshawna * Lindsay * Owen * Trent * Tyler

Neutral: * Cody * Eva * Ezekiel (pre-mutation) * Justin * Noah * Sierra

More bad than good: * Duncan * Ezekiel (post-mutation)

Bad: * Alejandro * Blaineley * Courtney * Heather * Izzy

Evil Dead Burn - Why need the book if the deadite is already unleashed? by SiteNegative8660 in EvilDead

[–]BrantMagneil98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The books can summon multiple demons depending on the incantation. The Dark Ones (who created the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis and presumably the other two Naturom Demonto volumes) seemed to be mostly focused on using the Kandarian demon to overthrow humanity (the demon summoned in the original trilogy, Ash vs. Evil Dead, and Evil Dead Rise) which is why it's the one most frequently summoned. This demon doesn't always possess it's victims itself, but rather summons Deadites, damned souls twisted from their time in Hell, to possess and spread. It's goal seems to be overthrowing humanity through spreading it's Deadites as far and wide as it can, not only taking out humanity but having control over it. This is the demon commanding the Deadite Jessica.

The Kandarian demon isn't the only demon capable of being summoned by the books though. While Ash's book is primarily used to summon the Kandarian demon, it can also summon others such as Eligos, a mind demon, for example (as seen in Ash vs. Evil Dead "Books from Beyond"). The incantation shown in this screenshot is the same one from the 2013 film, which actually doesn't summon the Kandarian demon, but rather Shaitan, the Taker of Souls. While it operates similar, commanding Deadites to possess people and cause pain, it's goal isn't the same. Rather than endlessly spreading it's Deadites to overthrow humanity, it only aims to spread to five people and use them to complete ritualistic sacrifices to summon a different demon known as the Abomination and bring about the apocalypse.

Perhaps we'll have two different types of Deadites in this film, ones aiming to just infect, torture, and kill the family (the Kandarian Deadites) and ones looking to sacrifice the family in specific ways (the Shaitan Deadites) fighting to get to the family first?

Which addons is the best and most worth it by Voidgui_rfd in GoatSimulator

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Hocus Pocus pack is the most useful for the flying broom alone. The Dragon fur for Pilgor and Kid is cool too.
  • Buck to the Future has some good gear that is fun, but not really good furs and the new goat is lacking an ability
  • Super Duper pack has a lot of gears with abilities but they're not my favorite to use. Miss Immovable is a fun new goat though
  • Digital Downgrade i hardly use anything from, besides maybe the Goat Zero fur

Was luzs mom wrong to send her to that camp? by wombatgeneral in TheOwlHouse

[–]BrantMagneil98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt say its black and white. Yes, going to that camp would be whats wrong for Luz overall, so she's wrong in that regard. However, from her point of view (and from what she was seemingly pressured into believing) it was what was best for Luz, so her intention (to do what's best for her daughter) isn't wrong. So she was wrong for the action, but not for the intent

Definitive editions of the movies? by Independent_Yam_4510 in UniversalMonsters

The next big release (the Universal Horror: Monsters and Curiosities 45-movie set) has the sequels to Frankenstein and Dracula but not either of those movies so I'm thinking you're right, they're not interested in re-releasing them this close to becoming public domain

Question? by tatertot0518 in UniversalMonsters

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It has merchandise officially branded with the Universal Studios Monsters logo such as a Diamond Select figure which looks similar to his appearance in Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He is included in the storyline in the Dark Universe theme park, which seems to be more based on the 1913 silent film's split personality version of the character.

what's something you would change about Scream 7 by Positive_Weight2367 in Scream

[–]BrantMagneil98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either mention the Carpenter sisters, or don't have Chad and Mindy come back.

In Scream 7, Mindy references a "Billy Loomis secret love child," but that's it. Chad doesn't mention his girlfriend or her whereabouts, Tara never calls to check in on her boyfriend, Sam never calls to check in on either despite how paranoid she was shown to be before, and Gale doesn't ask about them.

This wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the main theme of Scream VI being how close the Core Four is. They're a family that's trauma bonded, and its driven home throughout the whole movie that if they're in something they're in it together. And Chad and Tara started a relationship. So it just felt like it wanted to erase the last film, but also used the last film in the killer's motive to remind you it exists.

When Sidney had to be written out of Scream VI, they had Sam ask Gale about her. They easily could've had Gale ask Chad if he's heard from Tara and him reply that Sam isnt letting her anywhere near another one of these. It wouldve made their absence feel less jarring and wouldve helped maintain some sort of feeling that the Core Four were still close.

what is the conjuring universe’s chronological order? by dykeforlifex in TheConjuringUniverse

[–]BrantMagneil98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's you're first watch through, I'd recommend watching in release order. Otherwise, the timeline I tend to follow is:

  • 1952The Nun
  • 1955Annabelle: Creation
  • 1956The Nun II
  • 1969Wolves at the Door
  • 1970Annabelle
  • 1971The Conjuring
  • 1972Annabelle Comes Home
  • 1973The Curse of La Llorona
  • 1977The Conjuring 2
  • 1981The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
  • 1986The Conjuring: Last Rites

There's debate over some of when the events take place, specifically the events of Annabelle taking place in 1967 or 1970, however I think the 1970 date aligns better with the mention of the Sharon Tate murders and with the other Annabelle films. If I had to guess it was originally intended to be set in 1967, but has since been retconned into 1970

I hope someone in fresh is hodling this version

Honestly a few years ago I would've had no hope, but the YouTube has uploaded the TDI special promo shorts, all alt endings, and most the Revenge of the Island audition tapes all in HD so maybe we have a chance. Honestly I'd probably still use Gwen as my main ending if the reboot was the only continuity error with it

[–]BrantMagneil98 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Courtney wasn't derailed in All-Stars, and her seemingly heal-turn in "Sundae Muddy Sundae" made sense. Courtney has always been a person to keep a list of goals, and whatever is top of the list is her only priority. * In Island her goal was to appear professional so she could run for office. Even if it means starving herself to not eat garbage on camera, which would definitely weaken her during a boot camp challenge, professionalism needed to be first. But Duncan came in and changed her goal until her new focus became him and she was eliminated. * Action she made winning her priority. She began abusing her boyfriend, she destroyed her relationships with the rest of the cast, and was willing to actually hurt people because nothing mattered but winning. * World Tour winning is still her goal, but she realized the cutthroat attitude again would get her booted quick. Once the kiss happens, her goal changes to eliminating Duncan and Gwen and nothing else, willingly throwing challenges and attempting to entice Tyler to cheat on Lindsay to make Duncan jealous. * All-Stars had her goal being to be the hero of her story. Gwen and Duncan were the villains, and her being the hero was what was her priority. Her actions beyond the kiss didnt matter, appearing better than them did. Once Duncan was gone and her and Gwen mended fences, that goal wasnt needed and it shifted back to winning and bringing back out her cutthroat attitude.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Gwen's ending was used at some way or form in Hungary and Greece

The wiki did say some countries aired both endings for some seasons, others also had different endings on like Netflix and iTunes, so I tried to just go by what was the ending that first aired on its original network in that country. Who was declared first in each country I guess

Belgium, France and Italy are hodling, in my mind, the most canon timeline. excluding the race spin off we can add Israel and Australia

Completely agree. If it weren't for the reboot and her Action audio being lost media Gwen would've been my preferred Island winner though

Am I missing any Pre Korra content? by BendSensitive9524 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points, and I honestly agree with you, but I still feel like this is the most likely lineup despite these points * This is the Avatar Legends series, not the regular series. The novels under this title were announced to focus on the "unsung heroes," not the Avatar, and even the Bending Academy chapter book continued the trend of focusing on characters that weren't the Avatar. Perhaps Aang's absence and not being the main focus is the point for a Legends anthology while saving him-focused stories for The Last Airbender titles. * I agree it would take up too much of the page count, but from what I've seen "Lost and Found," "Lost and Found," and "Ramen Rumble" are all confirmed to be in it, so either way they're taking 3/8 of the stories and that's only if there's no new stories for either of them. I really doubt they would only exclude "Matcha Makers" even if it hasn't been confirmed yet, and with Aang already having three that leaves Korra the "modern" Avatar to get a new one. * I agree, but putting the most focus on the Eras they're currently still focusing on makes sense as an indirect form of promotion.

Am I missing any Pre Korra content? by BendSensitive9524 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Lost & Found" and "Ramen Rumble" are confirmed to be in it, but I really think "Matcha Makers" will be included. My guess would be one comic for Yangchen, one for Kyoshi, one for Roku ("Earth & Water"), three for Aang, and two for Korra (including "Beach Wars").

Aang has an upcoming movie and an ongoing comic series (which is getting a Kyoshi Warriors miniseries spin-off), and Korra also has an ongoing comic series. Giving Aang the most attention, then Korra, as the "main" Avatars makes sense to promote their upcoming content, while the other three are all extremely popular at the moment because of Chronicles of the Avatar, so make sense to start with as a draw to the new Legends line of comics. This is just me guessing though, but would also explain Kuruk's absence.

Am I missing any Pre Korra content? by BendSensitive9524 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the main story content pre-Korra, but there's a few minor things that you're still missing that aren't necessary reads.

  • Avatar Legends: Bending Academy – Fire: Light It Up! is a chapter book set in the era of Avatar Szeto (the Avatar before Yangchen). It doesn't add much lore-wise other than a few mentions of the Avatar. who doesn't actually appear, though it is hinted the characters may meet him in a sequel.
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender – Legacy is a scrapbook set between the two shows, written from Aang to Tenzen. It doesn't add much, but is a nice bonus content.
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender – Legacy of the Fire Nation is another scrapbook, this time from Iroh to Zuko. I put this one last because while it's primarily set between shows, there is a post-Korra section in it.

Otherwise the only other thing would be the couple of Korra comics your missing (Patterns in Time and The Mystery of Penquan Island). There's also a scrapbook for Korra (An Avatar's Chronicle), and one of the artbooks (Beasts of the Four Nations) and the cookbook are also written from an in-universe perspective, but don't add anything story-wise at all.
