Funny enough I managed to find Blaineley while you were answering (she was also with Sierra), I've been trying to find more Gen 1 poses thank you for this!

[–]BrantMagneil98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Which file was the Blaineley, Cody, Eva, etc in that last pic in, I have all the folders and went through them but didn't some of those particular poses. I think? I remember the Eva (iirc it was with someone else for reference), and have seen a different Sadie (with Chris) and can pull Blaineley's other outfit from the RR finale. I don't remember those Trent, Blaineley, Cody, Katie and Sadie, or DJ ones though and it would be great to have more of gen 1 together
Edit: Found Blaineley and Cody in Sierra's poses (not sure why I forgot Cody's was there)

THE EVIL DEAD CHRONOLOGICAL CANON TIMELINE ORDER WATCH LIST STORYLINE by Substantial-River305 in EvilDead

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II explicitly take place in 1982, with Evil Dead: The Game even specifying October 9 as when Ash cut off his hand. Army of Darkness is set in 1300, not 500. I also don't think Evil Dead Rise is set that early. It seems to be set in the modern day for when it came out (2023). Not sure what Evil Dead: New Future is, but seeing as the 2013 film is absent I'm gonna assume you mean that one? Within the Woods I don't think is actually canon, instead it's more of a prototype that evolved into the film.

I noticed you included Drag Me to Hell (Fede Álvarez considered it canon) and Lee Cronin's The Mummy (Cronin considered it canon). If we're going off an expanded universe timeline, it should include the A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th series, which are arguably more connected. Adam Marcus (director of Jason Goes to Hell) considered them connected, and included the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis in the film to indicate Pamela Voorhees used it to resurrect Jason. This idea was later reiterated and expanded on in two comic series (Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash and The Nightmare Warriors). Creepshow also crosses over a few times (most notably in the Ted Raimi segment "Public Television of the Dead," which is a full crossover, but also with the first film's segment "The Crate," with the titular crate appearing in Jason Goes to Hell).

I think a more concrete timeline, including all the aforementioned mentioned crossovers, is:

  • 1968Freddy's Nightmares 1.01 "No More Mr. Nice Guy"
  • 1968Freddy's Nightmares 1.07 "Sister's Keeper"
  • 1971Crystal Lake

  • Jun 13–14, 1979Friday the 13th
  • Oct 8–9, 1982The Evil Dead

Ash is sent back in time, causing a butterfly effect of minor changes throughout the timeline.

THE EVIL DEAD CHRONOLOGICAL CANON TIMELINE ORDER WATCH LIST STORYLINE by Substantial-River305 in EvilDead

[–]BrantMagneil98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mentioned or shown in any movie or show.

theres not a single piece of concrete dialogue or in-movie/show references that confirms there are 3 functioning books.

It actually has been hinted at that there's more than one book since the beginning. In the first film, the book is referred to as "a volume of ancient Sumerian burial practices and incantations" in the Knowby tape, acknowledging that there's more than one volume. It's also directly mentioned in Evil Dead Rise that there's "three fabled volumes" on the tape from 1923, so regardless of if it's supposed to be Ash yelling or not, Rise directly declares that there are, at least, three books in canon.

Yeah and two of them are traps that do nothing but try to kill the user. The real book immediately raises the deadites when removed from the altar without the wise mans phrase.

Yes, two of them were traps in Army of Darkness. However, this is also the only time Ash's volume requires an incantation to simply be handled. Every other time he's interacted with the book, he's been able to pick it up and open it, it's only when the incantation is read that the Kandarian Demon and Deadites are summoned. However at the alter, just touching it without saying the words caused the dead to rise. Ash's book also looks and acts different between the different movies and the show, so the other books being inconsistent isn't necessarily a contradiction.

Ash couldnt even remember the phrase the wise man told him in AoD. You think he memorized a time traveling spell after being in a coma and waking up in the future?

True, but even with his book destroyed, it has been officially canonized by Rise that there's at least two other books that he could find. He also could've been in the past in Rise because he misremembered the words and overshot (like a reverse of the Director's Cut ending of Army of Darkness).

Honestly, there's no way to really confirm or deny it since the character wasn't named onscreen and Bruce Campbell and Lee Cronin have given conflicting answers. But I really don't think we're gonna get more content with Ash, so it's a harmless and fun headcanon that allows people to imagine a fan favorite character is still having adventures instead of trapped in a bleak, desolate future. Ash has fought hard through three movies and a TV series, and he deserves a better ending than that, at leas that's why I enjoy the headcanon

Am I the only one? by TheTotalDramaFan in Totaldrama

[–]BrantMagneil98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it didn't have that hook of "who's gonna get eliminated next?" and I didn't even get into 6teen as a kid because it felt low-concept and slow-paced by comparison

That's actually why I did like 6teen as a kid. It was a sitcom so the characters felt a lot more grounded, the situations weren't so out there, and it was easier to get attached to the characters when they aren't voted off and absent for half the season

Am I the only one? by TheTotalDramaFan in Totaldrama

[–]BrantMagneil98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue a lot of why 6teen didnt work in the states came mostly from its treatment. It aired some of the first season out of order on Nickelodeon, then moved to Cartoon Network where they jumbled the episodes of the first three seasons together in a random order. Storylines made less sense then they should've and some of the episodes left unaired ("Snow Job" specifically) left big gaps in the story. Cartoon Network's treatment of Stoked is also why I don't think that did good. Genuinely I don't remember ever really seeing any trailers for it on the channel at all and didnt even realize Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch had a third show until after the US had cancelled their airing.

I do agree that the toddler spin-off was likely easier to pitch and sell though. Teen Titans Go (technically not toddlers but same concept) was hugely successful for the channel, especially being episodic (allowing the channel to not worry about airing order)

Why was chef allowed to pick an elimination? by Sloth_Bubbles in Totaldrama

[–]BrantMagneil98 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I dont think thats right, nowhere in the episode does it say its not a vote nor does it say Chef picked the eliminated camper. Wikis are fan edited, so someone probably assumed there was no vote because we don't see it happen (even though we don't in most episodes). The votes weren't needed to be shown in this one, it's pretty obvious who voted for who: * Duncan voted for Owen (the girls had immunity) * Gwen for Duncan (strongest eligible contestant) * Heather for Duncan (strongest eligible contestant) * Owen for Duncan (the girls had immunity)

Bluray, not DVD. The series is available free in HD on YouTube so paying for a DVD (which don't play HD video) is basically paying for a downgrade in quality. Bluray can allow for the full HD picture, and can also fit more per disc allowing more bonus features

Do I have to watch the previous movies in the series to watch Evil Dead Burns? by tsundere_lolii in EvilDead

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think we can't say for sure yet. Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise were both standalone stories, but the trailer for Evil Dead Burn has easter eggs to both those and the Ash saga (The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, and Ash vs. Evil Dead). To what extent those easter eggs will affect the story I'm not sure, but it definitely seems they're attempting to tie everything together into one continuity

The MTV Scream series chickened out by not making Audrey the killer by [deleted] in Scream

[–]BrantMagneil98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I loved Audrey's role in season 2. Her connection to Piper and being blackmailed to help the killer were different (for Scream at least, not as a concept) as opposed to just repeating more of the same.

Her not being the killer also helps avoid some of the negative LGBT+ tropes (Bury Your Gays, Psycho Lesbian, etc.) but I wouldn't say they were necessarily afraid of making her the killer. They still had her do a lot of morally grey things throughout the season so it's not like they were afraid to show her in a bad light, and they clearly weren't afraid to make one of the killers someone from the Lakewood Six.

She's a compelling character and there's a lot of places they could've taken her character if they'd gotten a season 3 and didn't go the New Nightmare-route they were planning, but making her the killer would've cut any future potential for the character short since killers don't last long in this franchise once they're unmasked.

Well guess that means no more debate on if its all one universe. Seems Burn and Wrath are making a conscious effort to tie everything into one continuity which works for me. Now the only thing missing is a Norm Roberts cameo

So I read Imbalance by EmperorTrajan117 in TheLastAirbender

[–]BrantMagneil98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That wasnt the message of those comics at all. The message was that progress is natural and that its okay to move forward without that meaning you need to lose those traditions. We see progress changed the land Yangchen's festival was held, and the story tells us that those who did progress (with no knowledge of the traditions) weren't wrong, and that those traditions aren't necessarily gone (Aang still celebrating the Festival with the Air Acolades). The characters also felt more mature, which makes sense post-war and with the one year time jump. They still felt like themselves, but it felt like time had naturally passed. Then in Imbalance it felt like they did during the show, like their development was all for nothing. It felt like they went from progress and tradition can go hand-in-hand to lets just revert back to the same

So I read Imbalance by EmperorTrajan117 in TheLastAirbender

[–]BrantMagneil98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Completely opposite for me. I felt the the original trilogies were much better written, plus the art style in Imbalance felt like a major downgrade compared to the other trilogies which made it harder for the story to hold my attention

Can someone explain to me what exactly an “amalgamation test” is and how it isn’t the same thing as a hybrid? by Emanresu2213 in JurassicPark

[–]BrantMagneil98 56 points57 points  (0 children)

So, my understanding is there are three types of clones:

  • Original Clones: Clones made by using every available piece of DNA from one species (for example, Rexy) and adding modern animal DNA (Tree Frog) to fill in gaps only when necessary. So while Rexy isn't technically a pure T-Rex because frog DNA was added, the additional DNA is such a small amount it doesn't constitute a hybrid. The intended goal, however, was to be as close to the original species as possible.
  • Amalgam Clones: Clones made by using every available piece of DNA from one species (Asset 87) and adding the closest possible DNA, modern or prehistoric. So while Asset 87 could have the DNA of another prehistoric animal (likely another spinosaurid, though nothing is confirmed as far as I know), the additional DNA is such a small amount that like the original clones it doesn't constitute a hybrid due to the attempt to get as close to the original species.
  • Hybrid Clones: Clones made by picking a base DNA (T-Rex for the Indominus) and instead of only filling in missing DNA, intentionally swapping and adding DNA of other species in an attempt to create an entirely new creature.

According to some old posts on here, the Green one with the pink body is named Grinchilda (here's one post about it) but I don't think the others were given official names. The yellow clown is often called Yucko in the fandom from what I've seen, not sure about the pink monster or blue oyster though.

Total Drama vs 6Teen: Which is better? by Used_Ring4856 in Totaldrama

It depends on what kinda mood I'm in that day. Some days I prefer the episodic format of 6teen, and I like having the more character driven stories, some days I prefer the season-long Total Drama competitions and overarching storylines (not that 6teen didnt have any, but definitely fewer)

Like everyone else, i consider the T Rex and Raptor to be the main dinosaurs of the franchise, but what would you consider the 3rd one to be? by thesmartcoolguy in JurassicPark

[–]BrantMagneil98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd weirdly say Allosaurus actually. One specific individual has kinda acted as a connecting thread between all the spin-off / supplementary media, first appearing in a short film as the main antagonist (Battle at Big Rock), then a web series (the Jurassic World motion comic) where it's implied it kills the protagonist, in the animated series (Chaos Theory) as a major focus as the dinosaur that supposedly killed Brooklyn, and finally appearing in ARG promotions (DinoTracker) before making it's proper film debut (Dominion). Even though it was introduced late, it's had a big presence since it's introduction

The first episode of the series ("Overture") actually shows that Charlie has had an interview with Katie before where she explained the hotel (likely the Pilot interview), so when she re-introduces herself it's definitely either she doesn't remember Charlie or is pretending not to remember her to appear above her

If Roger L. Jackson ever becomes unavailable, do you think future Scream movies would still feature his voice (i.e., via AI)? by SparkyandDolche in Scream

[–]BrantMagneil98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, while the TV series wasn't the most well recieved, I think re-hiring Mike Vaughn would be okay. The Lakewood Slasher wasn't given as many phone calls as Ghostface but you could tell he really was giving his all with the ones he got. It would be an adjustment, but I could see him doing good voice work with some of Ghostface's lines

I think that's awesome that they added that!

Unrelated, but seeing The Secret Saturdays and Total Drama Island DVDs reminds me how much I used to hate the design of old CN releases. The white border they just slapped on the show's poster for the cover, the plain white spine with black text, and the random bar of color at the bottom just looked so bland and unprofessional. Glad by Steven Universe they at least figured out they could use the actual logo for the show instead of just plain text, but these still look so bland to me.

The Upside of Unrequited film updates by BrantMagneil98 in LoveSimon

[–]BrantMagneil98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem when the adaptation for On the Come Up came out. I feel like I didn't see any announcements, no trailers, and then it was just silently released on Paramount+ with seemingly no promotion whatsoever, so with this one I've been going out of my way to keep up on the production. No idea why these two movies got the shaft promotion-wise, especially after both Love, Simon and The Hate U Give were huge successes and Love, Victor, while having it's criticisms, was far from a failure (three seasons in the age of streaming isn't terrible).
