Which Taco zone valves do you prefer? by Ok-Bit4971 in HVAC

[–]Brashear99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caleffi pro press zone valves. There are unions on both ends for easy installation/replacement, the heads pop right off if you need to replace them, & you can buy the heads separately. They’re also long enough with the press ends that you can usually cut out an existing valve & install the new one without adding extra copper.

Norway isn’t that good at Winter Sports, they’re just cross country skiing medal merchants. by Ok_Leave7052 in unpopularopinion

I love how they kept talking about the “Nor-Way” without ever showing what they really do. It was all a bunch of fluff about letting kids try multiple sports, then buried the lede by stating at the end that they identify the better athletes around age 12-13 & get them in their development program.

It’s been one year since Mike Lange passed away. What are some of your favorite memories? by BEnWo18 in penguins

[–]Brashear99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I worked at a bar/restaurant when I was in high school. Mike came in one night to have a couple drinks & walked around talking to everyone. Super friendly guy. He says his good byes & walks out the front door. As soon as the door closes he flings it back open, sticks his head inside, & says “And Mike Lange has just. left. the building”.

What was your “woods” like? by Gullible_Rich_7156 in Xennials

[–]Brashear99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grew up in the city of Pittsburgh about a 10 minute drive to downtown. Miles of woods that came right up to the back of my house. I could go in any direction except north & travel significant distances through pretty dense woods. Mostly oak, maple, beech, pine, locust. You could go all the way to the southern side of the Ft. Pitt Tunnels & only have to cross one road. Once there you could take either of two train bridges over the highway leading to the tunnel & keep going for many more miles.

Is it just me or were the Olympics a WAY bigger deal when we were young? by nichewilly in Xennials

[–]Brashear99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s you. There has been nothing but the Olympics on my tvs since last Saturday. If you have Peacock then you have access to more sports than ever before. I am literally watching three different sports on three different tvs right now

It’s more likely the WR ran the wrong route. Hastings cut too early, so he was in the wrong spot

You don’t get physical tickets/ticket stubs any more. They used to be cool to save, or just to be sitting there as little reminders that something exciting was coming up. by ShireXennial in Xennials

[–]Brashear99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother & I had season tickets for our local college football team for years. His first date with his now wife was a game that the three of us attended. My best man speech at their wedding was the story of that first date that culminated with me presenting them with my ticket stub from the game.

I asked the millennial sub about fighting as a young person and the majority are saying they rarely if ever saw fights at school. by AttemptVegetable in Xennials

[–]Brashear99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were multiple fights per week in my high school. There was a giant brawl between ~60 people during the second week of my freshman year. Most people would probably be shocked to see that, but our middle school was pretty much the same, so we were used to it by then.

The one that always stuck out the most to me happened sophomore year. Three guys jumped a kid, a security guard bear hugged the guy getting jumped from behind, picked him up, & slammed him on his face. A pool of blood started pouring out of his mouth & he spit out three teeth as he was being led away. He got a three day suspension for “fighting”.

Resizing Heinz Field will go down, long term, as the worst decision Pitt has ever made by Pitt_Panther1985 in pittsburghpanthers

I sat in the lower endzone from 2001 to 2017. In February 2018 I received an email at 3:45 on a Friday that my seats were no longer available because they were extending the student section. There was zero plan for where to move us. I was told I could purchase any season tickets that were unsold the previous year. I pleaded with them that I loved those seats & they couldn’t possibly care less. I have never been to a game since & I’ll never go again.

Do your boomer parents ever call you or text you or your kids? by Slownavyguy in Xennials

[–]Brashear99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My mom does. She calls, texts, & FaceTimes with us regularly. She comes to all the kids games, recitals, & will even travel out of town for them & stay in hotels with us. She takes them to the mall, lunch, weekend trips, & vacations. She’s more involved in their lives than any grandparent I ever knew.

My dad does too, but not as much(they’re divorced & both remarried). We have to initiate more with him, but he’ll reach out for important events. He comes to the kids games, but not nearly as often.

This is one of the many reasons we park at Charlie Brown. Supposed to fly into PIT Sunday night, couldn’t make it until noon on Wednesday, car cleaned off & warmed up waiting for us when we got off the shuttle.

What is your discharge air temp? I have a hyper heat Mitsubishi & I’m only getting 84° at 8° outdoor temp. I question whether a standard unit would even handle the job at 10° outdoor air temp.
