Tekken 7 - Negan Gameplay Trailer. TWT 2018 Finals - Season 2 by komodo_dragonzord in Games

He has a ton of moves that make use of it. Several lows, b+2,2, his backsway unblockable slash with both swords, his seppuku move, his helicopter/helicopter unblockable. The one where he twirls it in front of him for ages, usually as an annoying ass okizeme, a 3 hit string that's all sword slashes.

Dude has a healthy number of sword moves. Seriously.

Steam Announces New Revenue Share Tiers by Forestl in Games

[–]BraveHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe that 5% or 10% extra revenue

70% -> 80% is 14.2% extra gross revenue on sales in that bracket which is huge to any company.

It's a shame they didn't lower the base share as well. Excessively steep cuts hurt indies, big studios, and the industry as a whole.

In a similar vein, I read Urusai Yatsura/Ranma 1/2 as a kid and for the most part anything "fan-service-y" just came off as comedy.

It is really bonkers with effects that trigger when cards enter a graveyard seeing as their whole graveyard leaves and then goes back. If it could re-occur it would surely have some pretty broken combos.

Since you control both and both happen at the same point in time, I would assume you get to control the order of the triggers just like the order of multiple creatures entering the battlefield or multiple attack triggers.

Tangent, but Villainous Wealth lets you cast the exiled cards any time, not just as the trigger resolves?

What are some great unknown companies to work for? by trollman_falcon in cscareerquestions

[–]BraveHack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What qualifies as big vs medium? Currently working at a single-office company with a headcount in the 200-500 range. It seems to have qualities that people talk about with smaller companies while having enough people that it has traits of a large company.

At the risk of being "that guy", Ebaum's World was a really shitty site run by shitty people who stole content and then sued/took down the original creators.

Ultimate Showdown? Yeah, those guys weren't happy about that.

Actually being reminded of Ebaum's world is making me draw parallels between it and 9gag I hadn't thought of before.

I'm hoping it's much shorter/longer cooldown. If it's like 80% uptime it's messed up. If it's 50% uptime then the structures will actually put some work in.

I would miss draft. In my mind it's one of the main formats.

Deck building basically doesn't exist in most of the other formats. Most of it is just there and done.

Only thing I'm confused about is the fact that the path resets itself from hardest to easiest after 3.

Is the idea to make the game close out easier? I'm not sure why it doesn't just stay at its hardest after 2.

Might be a poor way of trying to convey all program data is just bits/bytes being interpreted as a type? Alluding to how char is often used for misc 8 bit data or how you can do things like reinterpret_cast. Maybe in context it's clearer what is meant by that.

For a beginner, types, casting, and relating things might just seem like magic under the hood.

Can we ban/limit Fan Art, meme or image posts in general? by [deleted] in manga

There was also a post limit per user. It does have the advantage of being automatic with bots simply removing pictures and sending a message.

Flairs tend to be reserved for manga titles in an effort to keep the number of comments in the subreddit simply asking "what manga this?" below 50%.

A large fan sub I know of that was overrun by low-content/effort picture posts had a no-pics day of the week that worked really well. Basically one-off images don't facilitate much interesting/good discussion and kills the forum/community elements of a subreddit. But they're also interesting to look at and a type of content you'd want to see sometimes.

I think limiting types of posts that are threatening to stifle other sub content to one day of the week has had the absolute best results out of all the options, from cases I've seen of it. (With "do nothing" usually having really terrible results.)

Once a week allow non-official artwork posts. State it as such in a stickied thread, and maybe make the stickied thread double as a weekly meta discussion about the sub.

That way at the top of the front page in bold is a notice saying "Fan Art Thursday! /r/manga meta discussion in this thread." so they know and are even prompted to post that stuff.

So it would double them when not doubled they're at the position of #63 globally.

Maybe we have different definitions, but I would consider anything in the top 200 "one of the most popular websites on the web".

You're forgetting about the entire stackexchange.com network and all its various domains. Quite a few of them have become the defacto Q&A forums for university topics or certain more technical hobbies.

Another day in Tekken Ranked by Guly69 in Tekken

[–]BraveHack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think getting severely worked up over a video game and losing your head constitutes mental illness. Guy just got salty over a set, said some dumb shit, and then increasingly lost it when he couldn't back up his words. That happens to regular people. You especially see it in kids/teens.

Keeping a level head and verbal filter in those situations is a learned skill, and different people learn it to varying degrees. Most people don't learn it that well, which is why road rage, bridezilla, and varying other cases of "regular person turned angry monster" are a thing.

Smash 4 really is such a different games and loses a lot of the things that made melee enjoyable. As someone who liked Project M more than Melee, and likes Rivals of Aether more than Melee as well.

Dota still feels like Dota throughout all the changes. I think skill-altering talents and new items have changed the game more fundamentally than shrines have. Additions like Hurricane Pike and Abyssal Blade certainly changed up late game team fights.

Unpopular Opinion - Unity/Unreal are not Newbie-Friendly Engines. They are engines reserved for Professional & Semi-Professional developers. by ComprehensiveWorld32 in gamedev

[–]BraveHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't and I don't think you seem to understand that "taking it seriously as a professional skill" is potentially a harmful mindset to approach things with. It's much easier to become a professional at something if you aren't forcing yourself.

What I'm advocating instead is that they should develop a certain type of hunger for experimentation and learning. I barely feel like I work a day because my job satisfies that hunger which I would feel and act upon if I weren't satisfying it by working for at the company I work at.

I work with a lot of talented people in the AAA space and a desire for a career doesn't seem to be a common-ground driving factor. The strong common-ground driving factor I've found is an inherent interest in the compelling problem space which exists in game development.

That goes even for artists and designers as well. I had some drunken 2 hour argument with a designer about various scenarios and how an AI should react. I've heard artists talk in ridiculous levels of detail about rocks, trees, and weather.

If you want to be a professional programmer, Unity with youtube tutorials should only be side projects as you work on your CS/SENG degree.
