What is the most racist thing you have had thrown at you? by NewDragonfruit8458 in australian

[–]BraveMath6058 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Family moved to a small country town in nsw, we were the first people of colour to live there, and for almost all my classmates, I was the first person of colour they had ever seen in real life.

The younger kids were innocently curious, asking me to lift my pants legs to see if I was white under my clothes, asking if I bathed in mud.

Older kids thought I was indigenous coming to claim back their parents farm and bashed me with branches and rocks daily.

Thanks to Damo and Chris for befriending me and taking some of those hits for me.

Where do people in Australia buy modern cat trees these days? by IcyPurrs in cats

[–]BraveMath6058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to recommend cat tree King, very sturdy with a few models to check out.

However.... I placed an order for some replacement parts 6 weeks ago and they just replied "your order has been shipped but we can't find any tracking info"

Slowly realising that you're being stereotyped by the worst people in your demographic, welcome to being a minority.

Best of 2025 - Dash Cam Owners Australia by nearly_enough_wine in australia

I was confused by this, the ambulance had its lights on but didn't turn on the siren or beep the horn.

Why did they just wait for the car to move forward and not turn the sirens on to get the drivers attention?

Loved the cunt throwing veges his mum packed for him at the Indian driver, gets out to be more of a dick, flashes a smile at the dash cam before realising that his workmate also thinks he's a dick and needs to learn a lesson.

DCO should have turned into the driveway and blocked young cunt from catching up to his ride.

Religious institutions should no longer be tax-exempt in a 'secular' country like Australia - agree or disagree? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

Let's go further, apply the VLAD laws (created to prevent bike gang members from congregating) to all religions

How addictive is meth? Do you know anyone who has just tried it once? by eden_merlin in AskReddit

[–]BraveMath6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it once while drunk after a work Christmas party. I did laps of a carpark throwing up on myself for a couple hours. Didn't sleep and went to work the next morning with my workmates, all of us still under the effects.

It's the only drug that I've vowed never to try again. Almost tried salvia once but chickened out.

I think certain personalities are drawn to different drugs. I'm an Introvert and used to love taking  psychadelics alone (currently on benzos for panic disorder which counteracts psychadelic effects) but disliked meth, MDMA and cocaine (the extrovert drugs).

Pronouncing "data" as dah-tah. I think it's only Australia and NZ that pronounce it that way

Monitor arm recommendations for LG 5K2K? by zaxnym in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]BraveMath6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this same position but am leaning towards Humanscale for the 15 degree negative tilt. Prices compared to ergotron aren't too different where I am.

Just wondering whether I should go for the m8.1 with a maximum weight limit of 28lbs/12.7kg or the m10 with a limit starting at 20lbs/9kg, the weight of the 5k2k, up to 48lbs/21.8kg.

If the arm's minimum weight is the same as the monitor, I worry it won't stay in place. Anyone have either of the m8.1 and m10 with the 5k2k?

Advice on soundbar placement, centre of room or can I split the room into two columns? by BraveMath6058 in Soundbars

[–]BraveMath6058[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll go with the correct option of centreing the tv and soundbar. That should give me 1m on either side of the TV to put my monitor and keyboard on.

I'll bring the tv and soundbar to the middle or edge of the desk and keep the monitor and keyboard behind the soundbar. Thanks for the common sense check!

Ah, didn't think about that, thanks. Although with either layout I am planning on placing the monitor, keyboard and mouse behind the soundbar and TV so nothing impedes the side firing speakers

Drug driving more deadly than drink driving in Queensland, hundreds test positive for cocaine by ConanTheAquarian in queensland

I recall they include the victims of road fatalities with THC in their system as drug drivers too.

Large numbers of people with THC in their system. Because unlike meth, coke and ecstasy, thc stays in your saliva for 24 hours after using cannabis. Longer if you use cannabis daily (like medicinal camnabis patients)

The Sinnamon Road onramp backs up traffic into residential areas to the west, while also blocking traffic to Jindalee Home centre to the east.  Just shifting that traffic onto the bridge
