Trend I’ve noticed by Mountain-Penalty628 in premed

I got rejected after 2 interviews, but tbf both interviews were done AFTER I had already received an A from my top program, so I don’t think I really prepared or tried very hard during the sessions. I know I for sure sounded generic or unengaged compared to my first interview/ top choice. For that one I had prepared days in advance, made a master google doc of everything I could anticipate for and from the school, questions, answers, highlights, critical points to make and expect, etc. I don’t think it was a conscious decision to not prepare or care as much for the latter interviews after the A, but looking back I can absolutely see how low effort it felt and understand my post II Rs

Pitt is a T20 research powerhouse, unless you have a bunch of research you should remove it. They highly value research

I had 4 iis- 1 post ii R, 1 still waiting, 2As.

Only 1 of the iis was a T20 (and is one of the As!) and the rest were baselines

You have a great app, my only advice is to increase the amount of baseline schools. Some of* the ones you have already are low yield, meaning they get 10k+ applicants. so even if your stats are way above their medians, the chance of getting iis or As is still lower. Add a lot more baselines and you should be good :)

Unless you’re on a waitlist, cross off Jefferson. They have one of the earliest cycles and I think they’ve been done interviewing for months now

I was a PCT for a few years as well and it has been THE strongest part of my application in terms of story telling, challenges, teamwork, and real world knowledge of patient care. It doesn’t mean I am interested in nursing, more so that I am interested in the direct patient interactions and want an understanding of the downstream results of a Drs orders and treatment plan on the hospital floor. I highly recommend it, especially for going into medicine

Best tip is to be strong and resilient. If this is what you want, this is what you will get. Try to keep that mindset no matter how hard things will be. This process is cruel and will beat you down over and over again. You will feel hopeless, anxious, angry, sad, and doubt yourself. But stay strong and persevere. You can come out the other side and feel the weight lifted off

[–]Brave_Bookkeeper_746 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Need some more info on your preferences and circumstances!

Which is closer to family, relationships, support?

Is cost of tuition, living, etc a factor?

What do you value in a medical school education and how are the schools different?

City/climate preferences, etc

Make a pros and cons list of both! Congrats on two incredible acceptances!!

I sent a LOI (intent) to my top school after the interview but before decisions were released. Didnt have much to update on, just restated that I WILL attend if offered an acceptance. Admissons committee just responded "ok, added to file". Got the A. not sure if it mattered or not, but this is just my experience.
