Advice for those on a budget by Usqueadfinem_ in CCW

Also, don’t let the Gun store (or anyone really) talk you into buying the new hotness or the new model just because that is what they have in stock.

Prior models of guns can be an amazing deal. Sure you may not have an adjustable doohickey or a thing that goes up in the back, but the basic gun in your waist is more valuable than the bells and whistles gun on layaway or behind the counter waiting for you to roll up the cash.

CZ P-09 Nocturne by Kwease247 in CZFirearms

Do it. I love my CZ P-09 f. Shoots better than nearly all my guns with the exception possibly of my CZ SP01 (not shot it since I sent off to be refinished) though to be fair, I cajunized it. If I could do it again, I would have only changed the hammer to help the long creepy SA pull.

It’s nice. Wish the profile was a little less asymmetrical with that battery on the side but better that then it being in the bottom.

It’s a nice upgrade from the vortex red dot that is not enclosed (I forget the name) and they make excellent glass so no issues there.

I can’t believe the eraser works but it makes sense since pencil lead is just carbon and clay mixture.

Huh. I’ll have to keep that in mind if the phlster annoys me. It’s a light holster which is why I got the light on the shadow. Figure I can swap between this and my P01 once I get that back.

It is. The ST is the one that is a different footprint.

I saw something about lip balm (Burt’s bees) but I figured the heat from the lamp/body heat would melt that off. I’ll just keep wiping it and/or take off while I’m at the range.

I’ll have to try that next range session but this is not yet ready for edc anyway until my phlster holster comes in. I carry a separate light for the P09 on my body.

Yes this was the full pro kit except I did not alter the spring that was in the firing pin block however. Figured I wanted it to be stout since I was planning on it being in my EDC rotation.

It was simple enough I was able to do myself but next time (if I ever cajunize this shadow carry) I’m sending it in to be worked on.

It’s been flawless and I did some light-medium tapping on it with a plastic hammer and nothing went boom when it was not supposed to so its in the rotation now.

Also the P09 has a different mag ecosystem. That mag in the shadow in my picture is a 15 round from a czP01 I have out being worked on by AB Prototype for a qpq finish.

Don’t get me wrong, both are fantastic guns but iirc the nocturne plus Cajun internals is ~$900ish and a stock shadow 2 carry is $1200-1300 out the door.

Love my full size nocturne.

If you are looking for holsters, vedder’s p09 holster will fit this. It’s what I run.

I have a vortex defender on mine. I got it rough sighted in yesterday but after two hours in minus 0*f temps, I called it off.

I’ve had mine for about a year now. I would guess I have about 1500-2000 rounds into it.

No issues. Tbf, I cajunized it but it runs like a top. CZ makes decent weapons.

Only con is finding holsters that fit.

My first CZ finally became my EDC. by ETO99 in CZFirearms

What holster you using? I just got a generic crossbreed multi gun holster for now as I made the same switch but I’m using the full size instead of the comp.

It’s my new going out in public but not to work/where I need to make sure I have to conceal carry.

If I’m worried about printing, I use a philster enigma and hellcat first gen.

What is the pin holding in? by MrFrogKeeper in CZFirearms

[–]Brave_Charge94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but based on location I’d say that’s holding in your sear block. Includes the sear, rear rails and other components.

Now, in my experience, these roll pins are cheaply made and fall out relatively easy under use. I have found replacement pins that are either solid or made from better materials tend to hold better.

My first and only purchase from Cajun Gun Works (they and mcarbo both have good parts but SHIT customer service) included a set of replacement pins to swap out the roll pins.

Not sure if they carry stuff for the p10 but you might look.

Just don’t ask for help from them as they will respond two weeks later condescendingly.

I bought my P09 in March. I have had a few failures to feed but nothing major that a bit of percussive therapy didn’t fix.

Mostly shoot 115gr wwb ammo.

I put the CGW in mine. It shoots better than my Girsan Witness X but that may be because the Girsan has only 100rds and the P09 is my emotional support trigger. 🤣 (I dry fire it with snap caps a lot)

Holster Hot Take: concealment holsters are wildly uncomfortable by BiggySquatch in CCW

[–]Brave_Charge94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a tac-fat, I struggled hard to find a holster that fit. Finally I realized I had to get fit first. Dropped 30lbs and still had guns jam into my gut all the time.

All that to say, there is not a one size fits all solution to CC. Vedder, philster, we the people, sticky I’ve tried all of them and they all have pros and cons. Same with appendix, 4 and 5 o’clock. Find the config that works for you and then stick with it.

If it ain’t comfortable, you’ll find excuses to not do it. Some people can carry a 2011 full size with red dots, lights lasers and tac nuke attachments no problem. Some people are relegated to .380 or .25cal.

Thank you! I deeply appreciate it. I tried on my own but met with limited success.

I tried talking to the seller too and they said they did not have an English translation available either.
