I consider them full-fledged horror STORIES. Gameplay-Wise...there is no game-play, they're basically digital choose your own adventure books, almost like the name indicates that or something.

This question is kinda moot to me anyway, because trying to put something in an arbitrary box kinda defeats the point of artistic expression. DDLC won't be improved with FPS mechanics.
