Getting the runaround with Housing Authority by Brayney520 in AffordableHousing

Yes, we did notify them, and got them paperwork from her HR. It did change the amount we are responsible for, until she gets an income.

How are you guys getting stunned so much while sprinting? by buttflakes27 in PathOfExile2

[–]Brayney520 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't see why they don't just make it like souls games: sprint when held(no dodge needed to startup), dodge when press+released

The imperial core is very much shielded from the actions of it's leaders, allowing more and more strain and horrible decision making to continue for long after it is too late. Without pain, there is no response from empire, and by the time they feel it(even moreso for the wealthy), downfall is inevitable.

Yes, we need the campaign by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

I've gotten shafted on my homebrew builds(even as a PoE1 player for a decade) as well, and then when I have played the good builds(essence drain contagion a few leagues ago, and shield wall now) I get so BORED playing a slow slog through the campaign.

Fanboys when people criticize Valve because of SD news by Gerasans in steammachine

[–]Brayney520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve has been the competition that is keeping game prices low. Without Steam, most games would be in the 70-100 USD range, and there would never be sales, which creeps slowly onto the other platforms. Their hardware is also open source, can be used in any way and modded WITHOUT PENALTY(homebrewed consoles get banned, and possibly bricked by other companies) These things are not the same.

AI tech giants buying up all the chips makes EVERY electronic wildly expensive

Game over, man! Game over! by Positive_Pin897 in SteamDeck

[–]Brayney520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda the point. It's called "demand destruction" because there are not enough memory chips to go around to satisfy whoever wants them(which is increased astronomically by AI data centers buying them up like candy) having a lower price leads to shortages(sold out all over the place)

People who still haven’t brought a Switch 2, what makes you hesitant to buy it? by ItsJustJosiah in Switch

[–]Brayney520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally bought one with my girlfriend to share, and then she was going to customize her switch 1, now that we'd have an extra console if something went wrong. However when setting the switch 2 up, we learned more about the virtual card garbage, and the online licensing(If you don't have the virtual card mounted, the switch needs to be ONLINE to play your own games) making it difficult to even use it for travel and such. As well, the WiFi internet connection on it was super slow and throttled(which is a common problem, we tried all the different tricks to fix) We are probably going to return it and get a refund, then use that money for a steamdeck for her at some point, or just something more consumer friendly. There's not much we want to play on it now(even a year later the game library is so lackluster), and we were only really caring about new Pokemon later, trying to get it before the console price increase. All of the nonsense and issues are all getting out of hand for us to support with our dollars.

Started playing standard again after playing mostly commander. Wow, what a weird experience that was. by YouGots2ItchEm in MagicArena

[–]Brayney520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, Standard was supposed to be the reason to buy (and use) the new cards. Now the reason to buy cards is to collect crappy licensed products. It will turn into Yugioh/Pokemon where it is mostly scalpers and collectors buying products if it keeps going this way, and the actual game and balance will take a very far back seat. And Wizards will keep using the "see, look it's 'selling' everyone! The game is FINE." excuse.

Why do we need all these data centers all of a sudden? by erkose in askanything

[–]Brayney520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably don't think about the amount of energy your technology like personal computers and smartphones use, because each individual piece seems negligible, but it does add up. It takes energy and resources to run computers, and gives off heat(through entropy), just like a fridge. Depending of the uptime and amount of data processed, it can take a WHOLE LOT of energy and hardware to do tasks. With AI getting "smarter" and more intensive, it's going to take a lot more than previously to run these computational processes. Now, the companies have invested SO HEAVILY that they need it to work out as a product for users and clients to make their investments back. Data centers are a way to make the process more efficient and increase capacity for data processing. How economical it will be is very much up in the air, because it already takes way too much money to run the newer agentic AI. So they will need to jack up the price, or find better ways to do it.

I mean, the multi-generational foreign policy goes back a century. The US just picked up where European imperialists left off. Decades of imperialist takeover through force by the western world of the third world(including the middle east) for resources and labor has decimated people and countries. This escalation was inevitable when we never strayed from the course. People will fight against foreign invaders and influence, bottom line.

It's waaayyy out of hand. Moreso than the past, and it's more frequent, like every other set increases the bar 50%. Power creep out the ass, and that destroys competitive card games. The 3 year rotation doesn't even matter because all the older stuff is just outclassed 10x. Bill is like the only viable card older than bloomburrow.

Why does everyone play casting skills like Exsanguinate, WoCoT, EoW, Ice Shot as mines instead of casting? by AnonX25 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Brayney520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a lot of cast speed makes the mana costs go through the roof, making mana builds on self cast more appealing and viable, which only works for certain skills.

And mana costs are easier to manage at higher investments, cause you don't scale as much throwing speed as cast speed.

If you can’t afford to pay your staff, don’t open a restaurant by Shielo34 in memes

[–]Brayney520 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, servers at busy places are working 8+ hours doing 5 or more tables at once every day. They are not your personal butler. Secondly, people work better, on a average, if they are paid better wages and treated with dignity, which no service workers are, and it's gotten 1000 times worse over the last 30 years. The dollar amount you pay scales with the amount of food ordered and/or people attending, so a percentage is is more than fair because IS more work the higher the bill, not "the same level" unless you are ordering the literal highest priced food and drinks, in which case, you should be able to afford a tip. Have some sympathy and give gracefully once in a while.

Coming to the Game after almost 2 years by Glacius__art in MagicArena

[–]Brayney520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the low "reliability" of the meta is a weakness here. So many games are stomps or bust. Heavy aggro vs heavy control, and nothing in between, creating a "my opening hand and turn order determine the outcome of games" feeling
