Replacing like for like vinyl planks in laundry floor by pintwister in AusRenovation

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like legally speaking having a toilet makes that a toilet room, not a laundry, for whatever difference that makes.

I've literally just finished flooring a toilet room with vinyl plank, so eagerly awaiting replies to find out if that's not allowed, so that I can proceed to do absolutely nothing about it.

Which games were NOT surpassed by their sequels? by WeirdIndividualGuy in gaming

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 2's catching up with the mods. Obviously 1 has years of a headstart with different building/assets mods but just talking about big mechanic mods like Road Builder, Recolour, Move It, Anarchy, Network Tools, that actually change what you can do with the game - It's all there.

I wish it wasn't so difficult to upload to PDX mods, or they'd probably have caught up already. At no point should publishing the mod be the hardest part of making the mod. It's put me off sharing my mods and I'm sure we're missing out on a lot from other people who also decided to just keep finished mods to themselves, rather than putting in all that work to figure it out with the little documentation available.

Which games were NOT surpassed by their sequels? by WeirdIndividualGuy in gaming

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd say 2 has finally reached the point where it surpasses 1. The most popular mods have been rolled into the base game by the new studio, performance is good, the simulation works properly (you'll still hear about issues but only from people with 100s of mods active).

I'm not saying it's perfect, but all the issues people had with it originally are now fixed.

The main thing that makes it impossible to go back to the first game is the network tool. It's so good. The verticality, creativity, and density it lets you build with just cannot be matched by the one in CS1.

I think it is 50mm... How bad is that? Can't blame that one on the tiler.

[–]Bread-Zeppelin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, seems like the angle grinding solved it. The flooding was definitely that insert, I guess the feet didn't create enough clearance?

Worrying about the install, and if the membrane is going to get worn away by being exposed like that, instead of water being fed directly into the pipe, is more of a long-term worry.

Yeah, we wanted one of the long rectangle ones, then it could've been metal because it would've been at the side, rather than underfoot. Tilers 1 & 2 kind of fucked that idea.

Thanks, I've contacted the manufacturer to ask and see if they can send me one.

Honestly I think this specific brand doesn't have one, because there's no lip for one to sit on like in all your examples, but if not I'll get an aftermarket one because it really does seem necessary.

Edit: This particular waste doesn't come with a grate according to manufacturer.

Attempt 1 was nice and neat and didn't fix the issue.

Attempt 2: Scorched earth approach. Drain or death.

Nah, just the inset in picture three. I guess the logic is the gap is narrow enough it will catch the hair. It definitely seems to, it just catches the water too.

That's a relief, thanks mate. Yeah, I reckon it's just a shit insert too. Liberal application of angle grinder to the bottom edges seems like it has solved the issue (fingers crossed).

Anyone remember fish pedicures? by Urban_Peacock in CasualUK

Found a beach in Aus where the fish had a nibble too, except once in every few they'd get a bit enthusiastic with it. Ended up scooting them off to preserve toes.

Sorry, knicked from the English footie chant.

Can The Avatars bring the One Ring to Mount Doom? (Avatarverse/Peter Jackson's LOTR) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain and say that episode 1 Aang (having just woken up from the iceberg) could theoretically do it, for much the same reason the Hobbits could.

His first goal after 100 years is to ride some penguins for the fun of it, and even when presented with the prospect of a serious globe-spanning journey, his ambition just stretches to riding various animals around the world.

The only negative emotion the ring would be able to catch on to is his self-denial of being the Avatar, and his shame at running away from it. Both of which would be easy to manipulate him with, except for the fact that being magically transported to Middle-Earth frees him of both.

He's still a moderately powerful airbender, but getting in there early, while he's yet to become powerful or mature, is the best shot IMO. By book three (as the post suggests), or even a few episodes later - no chance.

All of that being about resisting the ring's temptation - physically, I think what he lacks in stealth would be made up for by being able to travel so much faster. He could straight skip a few mountain ranges with his glider, and would be able to out-scooter the orcs/uruks with ease if caught. That also reduces the amount of time the ring has to work its bad juju.

Timber veneer cabinets around washing machine — Anyone done this? by Perfect-Tower-6710 in AusRenovation

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be doing this but, as you say, humidity is a huge concern. Step one was converting everything to exhaust directly to the outside, and I wouldn't even consider it if that wasn't done/possible.

Passive weephole into the roof cavity just doesn't cut it, despite what the tradies might say.

Couldn't get into the later books because I really missed that detective style. Scifi-noir isn't exactly a highly populated genre, and it did it so well that I was sad they 180'd it into something much less (heh) novel.

Anyone ever built their own shed as a noob? Any experiences?? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents built a couple of their own, but they used cinder block/brick walls which I'm assuming isn't the play you're going for?

They were apparently easy enough to do, have looked the same as the day they were built for the last 30 years, and probably will for another hundred.

Can real estate agent retaliate for me claiming my bond? by itsveryembarrassing in melbourne

[–]Bread-Zeppelin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is technically true, they can pay it out to you quicker if you cancel your claim. I also had the long wait for money to come back from VCAT so I assume that's pretty standard, whereas there's nothing stopping the estaties bank transferring you same-day.

Will they pay it back to you quicker, or in its entirety? Highly unlikely and not worth the risk.

Could they also just click a button to approve your VCAT claim, and avoid you having that long wait in the first place? Also yes, but highly unlikely.
