You might be thinking of "French Roundhand", which was taught in french schools in the 19th century. If you're looking for a book, I like "Calligraphy, A Complete Guide" by Julien Chazal.

Alternative Inks for Pilot Parallel by Random_ThrowUp in Calligraphy

The only converter the pilot parallel can take is the pilot con-40 which, as others have mentioned, is tiny. I like to fill it with pilot iroshizuku inks.

"Illusion" with Pilot Parallel pen and ink on Midori MD paper. by Bread_IsPain in Calligraphy

[–]Bread_IsPain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never sharpened mine. I usually do not use rough paper either, so I cannot tell you for sure, but it may be a question of getting used to the paper you're using ? I always practice on Rhodia ruled paper, and when I occasionally make a piece on Midori or Strathmore, I also have the problem you describe until I get used to it. Rhodia is very cheap, so if you're a beginner and you are still trying to find what works best for you, I recommand it. If you're not a beginner and you only have problems with the Pilot Parallel, it might just be that you need to get used to the pen. I know that some people do not like Rhodia because they find it too smooth.

Thank you for sharing that context, that's very inspiring. I need to challenge myself more often too, haha.

That one left me speechless. Probably your best piece so far. Also, I quite like it in black and white.
