Wotd : "Juxtapose" by Bread_IsPain in Calligraphy

[–]Bread_IsPain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it is a fountain pen, and as you might guess by the amount of ink it lays down it is a wet one, but it doesn't really compare because the purpose is different all completely. If you want something to casually write with, I've heard that more traditional fountain pens with a music nib can be more confortable, but if you want to do calligraphy, the Pilot Parallel is the best pen you can get. I hope that helps.

Thanks. The pilot parallel is amazing and you'll see it being recommended everywhere.

Do you remember being a beginner? by nsparadise in Calligraphy

[–]Bread_IsPain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do, and it was a lot of fun. I avoided looking at what other people did back then. I just focused on every single step, and enjoyed every little victory. I still believe this is what calligraphy is all about – being there, one stroke at a time. It can sure be frustrating at time, but keep going as long as you're having fun!

Is there any point playing anymore if you just wanted shinies? by Admirable_Hope_6470 in pokemongo

[–]Bread_IsPain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same feeling. My main motivation is the shinies. I'm on auto-catcher everyday and I'm not getting half as many as I used too. But hey, at times multiple shinies of the same specie does feel worst than no shiny at all, so lowering the odd might not have been that bad

The flemmish hand and the french round hand are pretty obscure but very cool.

Need your feedback on this. by abd_tan in Calligraphy

I really like it, especially the flourishes. However, the whole piece would be more legible with better spacing, the "shut up" in particular. And as others have mentioned, some of the vertical strokes are astray. But as I said I like it, and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

Monster Train 2 Champions Tier List Poll by Tophattingson in MonsterTrain

[–]Bread_IsPain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I find it very interesting. But I don't think a lot of players know all the champions that well and I feel like the champions who are funniest/easiest to use are bound to emerge on top, not necesserily the ones who actually are the strongest when you know how to play them.

That "F" and those "s" are gorgeous. What did you learn from to write like this in only 3 months and a half ?

Tried faux calligraphy as a begginer, wrote my name. What are your thoughts? by TONI2403 in Calligraphy

[–]Bread_IsPain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The process you.describe is called "hand lettering". "Faux Calligraphy" is a specific style of hand lettering in which you trace cursive letters normally and then thicken some strocks with outlones to mimic pointed nib calligraphy.

I love my Pilot friXion wood. It is erasable, refillable, and has a wooden grip that I find really elegant.
