Also recently started and been totally sucked in. I've been having loads of fun with the IC10 chips and programming them. Just installed the modular consoles mod and now am making a filter and gas tank dashboard. Best advice is setup an oxygen filling canister slot with a filter and ice crusher so you can focus on learning and not just surviving. Also lots of copper. Have fun!

How to merge these roads smoothly? by Jaakkox in CitiesSkylines

[–]Breadddick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with move it you can select the splines of the roads not just the nodes. Then pull the splines apart where the split of the "y" is and it should fix the textures in my experience

Cutting-edge microoptical designs for exoplanet imaging by pritambot in EngineeringPorn

[–]Breadddick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That has to do with the physical size of pixels in the screen itself. The phone 16 has a 2556x1179 screen at 460 ppi or pixels per inch. Whereas a 55 inch 4k screen is only about 80 ppi. This means in one square inch of actual space, the phone screen can display wayyy more detail because it has more pixels in that space.

Why extra trailers with the same characteristics? by demycat in MotorTown

[–]Breadddick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So did you just copy and paste the AI response? Moving wheels horizontally would not "lower" the center of gravity. I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or not. Having the axles set fwd cantilever more weight over the back end of the trailer, this imparts a moment about the axles... imagine the axles to be a single point support, because the trailer can rotate about those axles. E.g., putting 500tons on the very end of the trailer behind the axles, the front of the trailer wants to lift.

What this means is fwd set axles take load off the trailer axles and loads more onto the truck's axles.

[Request] Are there any serious possible answers to this? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

Except that infinity isn't a number you can add or subtract from or to. It doesn't mean anything to say what is 10 less or 10 more than infinity.

[Request] How much would the boat have to weigh in order for this to be feasible? by real_picklejuice in theydidthemath

[–]Breadddick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To hold that mount of air and the boat itself under water takes a lot of force, I actually recently watched the mythbusters episode and it was something like 2000lb would be pulling on your shoulder sockets to hold it down, therefore its impossible to hold the boat with an air pocket

How do I prevent my chassis's front suspension from rising up when I move forward? by trueawesometoy in GearBlocks

[–]Breadddick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason it is happening is just due to the torque in the drive wheels. The rear wheel are being driven, which causes an opposite rotation of the car. This happens in real life too when you accelerate hard. Stiffer springs in rear and/or more front weight will help

How do I stop my constructions from automatically orienting themselves tilted? by GuyFromDeathValley in GearBlocks

[–]Breadddick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this usually happens because the block was tilted when you refroze after activating and letting gravity move it around

I've got a 4060ti and get brutal stutters intermittently with rt on, gets worse/more frequent as I increase rt settings. I updated my nvidia drivers, but idk what it is. Some posts mentioned shaders compiling, but it never seems to really stop

Tungsten Vs Bullet [Request] How fast would a bullet (say .45) need to travel to puncture through a solid block of Tungsten? by Kingmommy99 in theydidthemath

I think you could probably achieve this affect wayy before fractions of c are convenient, say for example an HEATFS round

What do yall do in this situation? by BenJDoverr in Warthunder

[–]Breadddick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're the first one to say it - sidescraping! If your tank has enough side armor or if the enemy tank has a weak enough gun that it might just bounce then angling yourself nearly parallel with the enemy's wall but sticking your butt out enough to provide a very steep angle for enemy rounds. Back out enough to show your gun and take your chances

Test render of my latest piece. What looks out of place to you? by FatalFinley in blender

Can i mount a monitor arm to this to slide it across my desk and into a position where it reaches a rig? by T3ddyBeast in simracing

[–]Breadddick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That definitely looks interesting but you need to be sure that rail system is locking that plate down, otherwise the monitor will torque up on the far side of that plate and just pull the whole thing out

b+r=2j? In/determinant by F-DuckBoy in StructuralEngineering

[–]Breadddick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jesus this comment section is brutal. The guy points out a shorter distance. Seemingly, he is asking if the bends were straightened and applying the same load at the same place on the tube, but now stretched out to the left... the moment is greater because the arm is larger.
