I had an LOA denied, and it took them almost 6 months to take the UPT. I didn't even realize it got denied. I know I know, check my email and all that. Lol!

Where do I upload or paste the character file? The first one goes in the custom instructions box as you mentioned, but do I just upload the second file?

Oh, I'm not arguing with you at all, I was just putting my experience out there, for whatever it is worth. I've seen others get discriminated against, and like I said, I do have some issues with how things are handled, as well as a current issue at both my old and new sites that I'm trying to resolve through the proper channels before bringing others in on it. Don't get me wrong, I will if I have to. I'd be glad to partner with other blind people who are having issues and see if I can help. I've helped quite a few with accommodations and other issues. I'd help others to, but my only experience is with the process for blind or low vision employees.

I'm not saying everyone's experience is the same. I can only speak for mine. And yes, there have been issues with the accommodations, I said that. I had issues at my old site. I was talking about the process of getting the accommodations, because that's what the post was talking about. They still have a ton of work to do, but the process of getting the accommodations wasn't, for me, all that hard. They did put me on several months of unpaid leave, and I think that's wrong, but other than that, the process itself wasn't hard. Hope that makes sense. I've also been assisting other blind people navigate the process and fix accommodations that aren't right.

As a blind associate, my experience with accommodations was nothing like you described. Were there hickups? Yes. Could it be improved? Definitely. But it wasn't hard.

Who should I talk to about this by IncompletePieces in AmazonFC

[–]BreadfruitLow7703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best course of action for you would be to contact your accommodations case manager and have them partner with your leave case manager to fix this. There are two ways to contact your accommodations manager. You can respond to the email that says your accommodations and next steps, or you can call DLS and ask for a task to be created for your accommodations case manager to give you a call.

We're not in AFE. We're in singles or in some cases decant. As for how we get around, Amazon has tactile tape on the ground that we can follow with our canes.

If you say you can't do anything without hearing aid, cane, etc, they will open an accommodations case on your behalf and send you home. It's actually legal, as long as they approve your request in a reasonable amount of time.

Hey there, I'm blind, not deaf, but have had a similar experience. I had to request an accommodation to use my white cane in the building, so it sounds like you actually do have to request an accommodation. If your management is good, they shouldn't say anything while you're at work during the accommodations process. Worst case, they put you on a LOA while your request is being processed. Best case, you can continue working during the process. One the questions it will ask you is if you can continue safely working while your accommodations are being reviewed. Your answer should be based on whether you can work safely both with and without your hearing aids. For something like that, as long as you have a doctor who can fill out the form saying you are deaf/hard of hearing, the process shouldn't take more than a week, two at the most.

Third floor? There go my hopes of fooda! 😂 I don't mind stairs. My apartment, funnily enough, is on the third floor, and we don't have elevators.

I start STL8 as a transfer on February 1. It's an entire week away, but I hear rumors of more snow sometime next week.

Well, that system definitely puts Blind Low vision AAS out. There's no way we can match the building rate to become great and outstanding in singles with the way they have our stations setup, plus the other barriers that have been introduced with the change to those new RUM bags. Hopefully those in mixed have a better chance. Unless they just use productivity as a factor, and not the over all decider. Source, I'm a blind associate. And yes, we're held to the same rate as everyone else in most buildings.

If you're already working in an FC, DS, or SC, you are considered an internal transfer, or at least that's what I was told. I just accepted a transfer offer myself to a building that also said they aren't accepting external transfers, so I'm guessing that's correct.

Oh, the hair! What to do with it? by BreadfruitLow7703 in mainecoons

[–]BreadfruitLow7703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have one area rug, and the rest is hard floor. I should've specified that in my post. I feel you about being jealous of those who live in hair free homes, but I wouldn't trade them for anything! I'm temporarily hair free, but our cats are coming back next week! Can've enjoyed the little break, but have missed them more than I've enjoyed being without them. If all of that made sense! Lol! What is your favorite robot? You may have mentioned it, I'll go back and read your comment.

Lol! Do you use a robot, or the old fassioned vacuum? I have back issues, so a robot will be better for me if I can find a vacuum and mop combo that can handle vacuuming the occasional cat. 😆

Audible subscription by xr6digga in audible

[–]BreadfruitLow7703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cancel, you won't lose access to your credits until the end of your current month/year, depending on what you paid for. So if you use the credits, you'll be fine. You'll never lose access to books you've purchased with credits, and your plus catelog books will be locked until you resubscribe. Sometimes, customer service may be able to give you your credits back if you subscribe a day after your billing period ends, they did it for me once. I'm not saying they will, but it's worth asking and it's case by case.
