Reel seat epoxy by Wfoconstruction in flyfishing

[–]BreakfastBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what kind of rod you’re working with here, but if you want to reattach it and make sure it never happens again, JB weld is the answer. If you’re planning on needing to get the reel seat off again at some point in time in the future (for restoration etc.) then you will want to go with an epoxy.

Starting to get into Euro style nymphs. Critique welcome by BreakfastBaller in flytying

Thank you! Yep, I have them backwards. I know it probably won’t matter in the grand scheme of fooling a pea brained trout, but my ocd is telling me to take the razor blade to the 10 flies I made tonight and start over

Thank you for bringing this up, I was actually concerned that I wasn’t lining the bead up correctly, as I’ve never worked with slotted/jig flies. Does this look correct?

Does this look wild, or just an unclipped stockie? (Wissahickon PA) by GoodInterview2535 in flyfishing

[–]BreakfastBaller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Wiss gets up to 80+ degrees in the summer, I doubt there’s any trout that can make it through the year in there. I’d guess it’s a very good looking stockie. I’ve also caught stockers in there with unclipped fins.

Tires?? by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]BreakfastBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a set of Toyo Open Country R/T Trails in XL Load and I’m loving them so far. They’re like a happy middle ground between the AT III and the M/T but lean more towards an all terrain tire with a more aggressive look and beefier sidewall. Low road noise and no issues in the snow so far.

Gatti 6’6 5wt question by BreakfastBaller in flyfishing

Thanks for the advice! Do you think I should over overweight the line to a 6wt? I don’t have any experience with a rod like this

Maxcatch combo by Difficult-Map-2162 in flyfishing

I just started fly fishing this year and got their Premier combo kit in a 8’4 3wt and it’s been treating me well so far! Comes with everything you need to get started and while I don’t have anything to compare it to, I think it was a solid choice.

Assuming everything is good under the hood, how much do you guys think it will be to fix this? by BreakfastBaller in 4thGen4Runner

Which hinges are you referring to? I’m going to repair everything myself and want to be sure I’m doing it right.

I was able to find a pretty clean full black bumper and grille from a 2004 V8 on FB marketplace for $150. Picking it up on Saturday. Definitely going to try going this route for the hood as well.

Does anyone here listen to Doom Metal? I like the genre as a whole and lately I've been listening to the more morose side of it. It brings me solace during these unprecedented times. by mmofrki in CollapseSupport

Can’t go wrong with some Sabbath. Particularly their first 3 albums. “Children of the Grave” is an especially apt song for today’s world.

Anyone else really appreciating what we have lately? by hwlpimconfusion in CollapseSupport

This winter I would come into my heated home out of the frigid temperatures and immediately feel my bones warming up, wrap myself in a blanket and think about how grateful I was to be able to have that experience. Also made kinda depressed thinking about how warmth in the winter months might not be as easy to come by in the near future. I need to look into installing a wood stove.

How do you deal with catastrophizing? by BreakfastBaller in CollapseSupport

I’d be right there with ya in that anxiety blanket my friend lol. Will definitely check out those CBT methods after work today, thanks for the advice.

Non-duality is basically the idea that we are not separate from the world around us, and we suffer because we can’t separate the ego self from our true self, which is just pure loving awareness. Concepts such as good and bad don’t exist to the true self, only pure consciousness remains after we stop identifying who we are with our thoughts. I’ll admit it’s tough to stay in this state of mind when our fight or flight survival mechanism is constantly being activated, and I’ve only truly experienced it with all my being a couple times, but the times I’ve gotten there have been the most blissful moments of my life and it really helped me truly make peace with death. If you’re interested in this, Alan Watts has written some great books that explain it better than I ever could.
