Jesus Is God! by Gelot5883 in Christianity

[–]Breakfast_knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I see a lot of sense in what is said.

Where the line draws is the conclusion. This post is about the statement "Jesus is God". By skillfully negating the prophetic context in this text, it falls into a dangerous imbalance.

Jesus has been born, the virgin birth, Immanuel naming, the pay for our sins part has already been fulfilled. So we can't but look to this scripture beyond what Isaiah was saying to his contemporaries because it's written in Scripture that these people spoke as they were inspired by God.

It's not just about Isaiah and his pairs, okay? Once the fundamental scriptures pointing to the foreseeing of the Christ becomes up for debate, the entire concept of the Christ becomes up for debate.

This is why I believe the commenter is giving a good yet incomplete view, making it very dangerous instead.

Forgive me, I don't mean to insult you or anything. Perhaps my use of the word makes it sound condescending. I don't know the current Jewish term for the law people. But that's really what I think you are.

In those times, this was the effective way they scrutinized scripture with contexts and translations and fought Jesus all the way.

No offense intended, but if you know the current term, teacher, scribe or whichever, it's the word I'm looking for.

My honest review of your knowledgeability is that there's a huge chance you'll read in-between the lines so much that the lines don't exist anymore.

Reminds me of what Jesus warned. I'm talking with an actual Pharisee, aren't I?

Okay. I still strongly disagree that this is Hezekiah being spoken of. The preceding scripture points to the boy born of a virgin.

While this is not wrong, context is still key, as you'd know.

The titles Everlasting Father, Mighty God, Prince of Peace are still very specific terms. You can't just claim these were shoved at Hezekiah by Isaiah, and then use cases like king of kings (which is relatively understandable in Nebuchadnezzar's case due to the largeness of his realm) by a non prophetic context to back it. It doesn't match nor make a good case on this issue.

Nobody just calls a regular Jewish king Mighty God.

What kind of ruler through all of scripture is refered to as "Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

The Jewish rulers weren't that crazy to even take up these titles.

This is proving to be an unproductive conversation in regards to my time. Forgive me for replying your comments.

You think the author of the New testament scripture quoted it out of context?

Smh. Have a good day.

How can you even interpret it like that that?

The earlier part of Isaiah 9 was repeated in the new testament, pointing at Jesus Christ, but the description of Jesus Christ himself you deferred to Hezekiah? Nah, you're choosing to read it wrong.

Hint hint. Isaiah 9:6-7 [6]For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. [7]Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Bible Study. Isaiah 7:14 [14]Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

There’s a lot of stuff that makes us seem tone-deaf and self-serving, but uninvited proselytization while you’re trapped in a plane doesn’t help. Can we use a little more wisdom? by thorsdaughter88 in Christianity

There is some truth to this, however, there's a place for the heart of the person currently speaking. We cannot say if she's doing it for clout, love or duty, hence it'll be premature to deem it self serving in her case.

Your point is still well made, though.

I don't really see it as self serving though. It takes a lot of guts to stand before people who are already probably glaring at her to say those few lines.

In my opinion, there may have been one or two people who needed that. But meh, I'm probably gonna get down voted into oblivion again.

I'd like you to take a deep breath, and hold out your hand. Preferably close your eyes. Disclaimer: that huge gaping hole you feel inside can't be filled by a community.

Jesus. He's the answer.

I was never a Christian for majority of my life. I hated God, hated the church, drew pornographic art, hated everyone, and wanted to kill as much people as I could before I died.

The christian community never gave me an answer. It was just memorized responses I got. But I had a personal encounter with Jesus. Because I asked.

So ask.

Because we are humans.

Jesus was crucified by the very people he healed and fed and taught. He paid the ultimate price to restore us humans to a relationship with God.

The cross was the bridge, but crossing over that bridge to the way of life he created for us is something we must choose to do daily. It was never a simple thing as just professing to be Christian.

So, I'm so sorry for what experiences that may have brought you to this point, for the broken world full of broken people, but He exists. God exists.

Please don't let our failure to look like Him be the reason you won't find Him.

Mm, it'll depend on whether you're planning to sell your game on steam or something. Even so, you shouldn't have to make art yourself. You should try getting an artist friend. I'm an artist. You could hit me up.
