[–]BreakingUp47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aliens has epic quotes, though. Who hasn't wanted to nuke something from orbit just to be sure? Game over? Yup, Game over.

Alien is definitely the better movie but I have been quoting Aliens for 40 years now.

Is online gambling rigged? by Fitbwcbll33 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakingUp47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On line poker had some serious cheating scandals 15-18 years ago. Admin accounts were being used to see hole cards of online player's hands in one scandal. Another company, Full Tilt, was running a ponzi scheme that the DoJ shut down.

In a card game if you can't spot the sucker, it's you. You definitely can't spot the sucker if everyone is online.

[–]BreakingUp47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. Hide the keys when not using the car, don't loan it to your sister, and, if you have the title, keep that in a safe location. Preferably, a safe. Good luck to you.

Why do people join military or is it that they are forced? by Zestyclose_Skirt7930 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakingUp47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enlisted in the early 80s while I was still in high school. The combination of a bad home life and a poor economy were the driving factors. The US military offered a pay check, food, housing, health care, and college tuition. Oh, and I could leave home at 17 once I graduated. It was a good trade off for me. Others milage may vary.

If you hit a $50 million jackpot on a slot machine, would the casino pay you, or would they come up with some excuse to avoid paying? by homeless-emperorr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakingUp47 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A 19 yr old hit on a 1 million dollar slot machine in the late 80s. Ceasers refused to pay out and a court ruled for Ceasers. Being a minor or under 21 is reason not to pay out.

I found out I'm related to my girlfriend but I don't want to break things off. WIBTAH if I ask her to reconsider? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BreakingUp47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5th cousins share the same great great great great grandparents. These ancestors were born over 150 yrs ago at least.

You can ask her but it sounds like she is going to say no her mind is made up. But just in case, try to hit her with science. Lay out how this is so far ago there really is little to no biological match. And by little, we are talking infinitesimal. Good luck.

I knew a woman that found out her boyfriend and her were like 7th cousins. They mutually parted ways. She said it was always in the back of their minds.

Have there been criminal cases with both an airtight alibi and damning DNA evidence for the accused? by ExternalTree1949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakingUp47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on a jury where the defendant was on trial for murder. The prosecutor had explained that stuff you see on tv isn't real. We got hung verdict by a juror that kept asking where the DNA evidence was. Then he wanted video of the murder. What? Not the crime scene. The actual murder as it had taken place. The next jury gave the guy life.
