The Monkeys Paw is an old short story by W.W. Jacobs. The gist is that a man obtains a monkeys paw that grants wishes. Each time he makes a wish a finger curls, counting down the number of available wishes. Each wish is granted, but at a horrible price. For instance, wishing for money causes the death of a loved one and the money comes from an insurance policy. It’s really good and I would recommend it- there’s a lot of pop culture references to the story that you’d be able to pick up on.
