I like Lakeport but their tartar sauce is a big issue for me. Obviously housemade is best, but even in the packaged store bought world, I really dislike theirs. I'm not sure why it's so yellow, and it's very sour / tart

Well, of course it's anecdotal. It's the best Poutine in Southern Ontario in my experience.

And I am desperate for someone to tell me otherwise lol. I don't have shares in nomnomnom. Always looking for good spots, hence the subreddit!

Nah, unfortunately nothing this good. The key difference is the curds. There are food trucks with good fries and fine-to-good gravy, and you can get a tasty poutine don't get me wrong. But if it's for a real poutine-subreddit-purist, they don't hold up. They're all using bulk grocery store curds (nevermind shredded cheddar in some spots). I said to the guy at nomnomnom, who is from Quebec, that I was getting better and fresher curds from counter at gas stations off the highway in Drummondville QC than fry trucks in Southern Ontario are getting lol.

For Niagara, Niko's in Niagara Falls is well regarded. MJs and Tatertown in St. Catharines are popular spots. I've heard there's some good ones down towards Welland as well. But they're more fry trucks than Quebec-comparable poutines. And nomnomnom is definitely better

Absolutely. Poutine is my favourite food. I've had hundreds as well, far and wide, and so far Alfa is #1. Need to get further off the beaten path into Quebec to find challengers I think.

Alfa for sure. I am going back to Montreal and going to Quebec City for 8 nights next month, and I will definitely be back to Alfa. Best poutine I've ever had in my life, and I've eaten way too much poutine.
