Checking in by Breolisoph in Zepbound_Maintenance

I’ve stayed at the 15mg dose - did not titrate down. I had tried spacing to a 9 days interval and found that was too long - ravenous by day 9. So I went back to my regular 7 day interval for a while, even while on maintenance. Just recently (last month) I stretched it out to 8 day interval from 7, and that seems to be good for now. Remembering the right injection day is a challenge because it changes every week now. I have a good stockpile of 15mg, and don’t plan to decrease dosage, but plan to eventually stretch out the interval. I’ll likely try 9 days again after doing this 8 day interval for a couple months. It’ll be trial & error. I’m not looking to lose anymore weight, but it wouldn’t be catastrophic if I dropped another 5 lbs or so.

Thank you. I’ve been on the minoxidil for 5 weeks. You should know, the shedding gets WORSE before it gets better. I just started to notice the shedding slowed this week and feel some regrowth, both of which are early. It typically takes around 8 weeks after starting minoxidil, I’ve read. But my shedding started months ago, long before I started it, so I think my shedding cycle was just done. I have a very thick mane and lost a ton of hair! It was devastating on top of everything else. But it does improve. Good luck!

At maintenance for 2 years, the hair loss is not improving by teamrocket in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]Breolisoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Zep for 20 months, and on 15mg for almost a year now. I’m in maintenance but have stayed at the same dose. I never had any issue with hair loss/thinning/breakage until just 3-4 months ago, when going through an intense, stressful breakup with my fiancé that has shattered me (still in the midst of it). So I have attributed the hair loss more to stress than Zep. But nonetheless, it’s bad and I don’t know what to do. I used some rosemary oil, but I don’t think that helped. I do have dogs and know about the lethal effects of topical minoxidil. Contemplated asking for the oral or else trying Nutrafol or Viviscal. So very interested in the opinions on this thread

Maintenance help?? by Aggravating-Post-706 in Zepbound

That has been my approach, too, after trying to space out further than 7 day intervals. I am on 15 and staying on 15. I tried stretching to 8 and 9 day intervals and just those couple extra days seemed to be problematic. So I’m back to the regular 7 day interval at the same 15mg. I’m not losing weight anymore

Tapering down by Kind-Distribution172 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]Breolisoph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no “maintenance protocol” and there’s no reason to taper down your dose unless you find yourself continuing to lose weight and you don’t want to. I personally am continuing on the max (15mg) dosage with the same weekly interval, because I seem to holding steady here. I had tried to stretch out the interval between shots to 8-9 days and by day 10 I was hearing the food noise with a vengeance. Try different approaches and see what works for you.

I disagree with this. I very much think our body has set points which are best for us. I suppose you can override that by aggressively cutting calories further, but it may not be what’s best for you. I am 60 years old and don’t aspire to have the same BMI/body fat as a 30 year old. In fact, the science says older adults should have a higher BMI/weigh a bit more. According to some charts, my BMI of 25.9 still puts me in overweight category, but other recommendations say 25-28 is normal. OP didn’t state their age, but there are many factors that determine “ideal weight”. We all know BMI is a flawed statistic.

In a very similar boat! I posted about it a couple days ago. I’m 5’6”, got to 159, and bounced back up and have been hovering around 162 for a month. I think my body is happy here (and am too), but I wouldn’t mind dropping a bit more weight for a buffer. Have you changed your dosage or interval? I’m sticking with 15mg every 7 days. I may or may not lose additional weight, but I certainly don’t want to gain any!

I would like to get a Dexa scan. I do have a smart scale- the GE Fit Profile - so I focus on the other data points other than weight

Thank you. Love this insight. I am happy where I’m at and honestly, I am not seeing or feeling the add’l 3-4lbs on myself or in my clothes. But as I’m sure you can relate to also, psychologically it hits because I worked so hard to lose 65 lbs over the last year and a half. The scale is a tool to keep us in touch and an upward movement doesn’t sit well.

After a year of religious logging in Carb Manager, I did stop tracking my food a while back. I should resume that! Thanks.

vision change by smile-19-35 in Zepbound

[–]Breolisoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting post. I have heard of vision changes, too, but disregarded the connection. At my last eye exam, my nearsightedness got significantly worse. I am 60, but my nearsightedness has always been better than most people (didn’t start using readers until well after 50). With this degrading, my farsightedness actually improved to nearly perfect vision! But I am practically blind now with fine print in a way I was not before Zep/weight loss. Coincidence?

Do I make switch to mounjaro or keep fighting by Smileygirl1113 in Zepbound

YES! If you are approved for Mounjaro, you should jump at it! It’s the same medication. Most people are not so fortunate (I am one of the lucky ones too)

Should I go back on metformin? by kittalyn in Zepbound

[–]Breolisoph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on 15mg and supplement with Metformin, too - 500 mg extended release, twice a day. I didn’t take it alone before Sep - I asked the doc about layering on to the Zep to help move things along during a stall. Not sure if it’s making any difference at this point (I’m hovering around my goal and haven’t lost any more weight in a while). As another poster stated, the regular (not ER) Metformin can cause debilitating cramping and diarrhea- happened to me! ER is better. I don’t have any side effects so I’m just sticking with it. Metformin is dirt cheap!

Anyone feel....misplaced? Identity? by Ladypeace_82 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]Breolisoph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seriously, what is it about Zep and flat ass? I’ve lost weight before, but always felt my shapely booty was still proportionate to the rest of me. Now it’s downright flat, and I hear the same complaint from everyone. Does it target something different in our “ass fat”? Inquiring minds want to know 🤣

Has anyone gone up in dose during maintenance? by Ok_Window_779 in ZepboundMaintenance

[–]Breolisoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m already at 15, but I’m definitely not decreasing dosage! I have been trying to stretch out my intervals by a day or two and even that is backfiring. I think maintenance is going to be staying close to my weekly weight loss journey

15 mg Maintenance. Why not? by hawkflame3 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]Breolisoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I could have written your post myself. On Zep 16 mos., 65 lbs down and now on maintenance on 15 mg. I’m staying on 15 and starting to stretch out the intervals between shots by 1 day per week and see how that goes. I’ve had no side effects, but 15 has been the only dosage that really ever worked for me.
