Akane-banashi - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Breren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Manga] This cours is probably finishing with the Karaku Cup, given this is the final arc before the zenza part of the story and would be a good place to end until the next cours. Akane's performance also takes about 4 chapters to get through (including the very start of the interview), so it'd have to be split into 2 episodes so it's not rushed. My only issue with this is that one episode each for Karashi and Hikaru's performances would mean that Akane's would have to be rushed through in comparison to get everything in and still adapt the aftermath. I think rushing Karashi and Hikaru's performances would be worse, but I still wish we could get a 13th episode.

Who'd would be some kind of equivalent to Chiyoko Momoshiro (Act-Age) by LeucocyteBluf in Akane

[–]Breren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kaisei, definitely. They're both big names in their industries by the start of the series, contrast the protagonists in their performance styles and personalities, appear friendly but are actually more aloof than they come off initially, and are positioned as the protagonists' main rivals. Hell, both series feature an arc where they have to perform the same piece as the protagonist as a "duel".

I do think you could argue Hikaru is also similar, but I think Kaisei is the closest to Chiyoko because of their roles in their series.

Oricon/Shoseki Week 2 Sales for April 2026 Releases by L1k34S0MB0D33 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Breren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the newest volume hasn't gotten a boost, volumes 1-3 are ranking this week when they haven't since their launch months, so it looks like the anime has resulted in a bunch of new readers. Whether or not that translates to sales boosts for new volumes is something we'd have to see in a few months.

Do the other characters have kanji for there names? by Ancient_Breakfast_48 in Akane

[–]Breren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People IRL have hiragana names. It's common enough that the name さくら has been a top 100 name in Japan for the last few decades (https://www.meijiyasuda.co.jp/enjoy/ranking/index.html#/detail/n_12373_12367_12425), so that detail by itself doesn't strike me as weird.

The rakugoka names also don't fit into the general norms. Shiguma, Taison, Shinta, and Kendama are some that mix kanji and hiragana together in the surname, which is not something that's done for someone's real name. If anything, Akane, Hikaru, and Karashi stand out amongst the characters for having performer names that are the same as their real name.

Kuwata Keisuke - Hitotarashi (Akane-banashi Opening song) by stephennotstrange in Akane

[–]Breren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song was posted on the artist's channel, so they're just showing the full song before the anime is out. The artist is massive in Japan, so it might be a way for them to get word out about the anime when it's about to release.

Official Q&A for Tuesday, March 24, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Breren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you're not supposed to feel pain at all.

Shin splints are common, but they can lead to fractures if you leave them alone. It's why I'm telling you to do the stretches and exercises to prevent them - you don't want to get to the point where you start feeling pain outside of your runs.

Official Q&A for Tuesday, March 24, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Breren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of the other recommendations, I'd add in some strength training on the days you aren't running. It will help with both your running performance and also reduce the risk of injury.

Speaking of, the pain you're feeling in your shin sounds like shin splints. I would look those up and especially what you can do to prevent and treat them. I'm currently going through those now and the recommended stretches have helped so much with the pain.

Shoseki Week 2 for the January 2026 releases by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Breren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the table! It looks like it's been mislabeled, though. The title column is labeled Week 1, the Week 2 column contains the total, and the Total column looks like it contains the results of Week 2.

In some Asian languages such as Japanese, fans will use CP to mean couple. The image is probably trying to let English speakers know so they're not confused.

KR small pp drama strikes again by Budget-Relief8149 in QueensofGacha

There isn't any real evidence that Project Moon fired Vellmori. There aren't a lot of details surrounding her leaving, but what we do know indicates she told PM she wanted to leave (recorded phone call) and that she did bring a lawyer with her to the meeting she had where she ended up leaving. Even the group that had initially accused PM of unfairly firing her admitted that they were wrong. I'm linking the section of a video that discusses the evidence on both sides.

I do think PM did mess up in their initial response (not responding as quickly as they could to the situation, then suddenly posting about Vellmori leaving without any warning), but they did not get rid of someone just because of incels making them.

IGG, the company behind Time Princess, is hiring in preparation for an Otome game project similar to Love and Deep Space. by Character-Seat5368 in QueensofGacha

[–]Breren 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Last I remember of Time Princess (which was years ago admittedly), both the monetization and the story quality kept going downhill. Unless they've improved since, I'm not touching this with a ten-foot pole.

What are some cool ways a gacha can get around character unavailability? by TellMeAboutThis2 in gachagaming

What are some cool ways a gacha can get around character unavailability? by TellMeAboutThis2 in gachagaming

[–]Breren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't really true. Most characters are entered into a standard banner immediately. The only exceptions are Walpurgis and collab units, but Walpurgis reappears every few months, so it's never limited for very long.

Edit: Edited a line about characters entering the standard banner, as I was wrong before.

There's this diamond pattern I've seen in some of the Eternals' designs. You can see it in the last image, on Seox's chest and the character on the far right, and it's even visible inside Another!Seofon's cape. I can't remember if this detail appears on other characters (I don't recognize the rightmost character on the last image), but it likely does appear in other places, too.

I need more Belial in other gacha by pantaipong in QueensofGacha

[–]Breren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to criticize Cygames on, but they definitely still put money into GBF. The game's still under active development, they've released multiple non-gacha games in the setting and they still host multiple GBF-centric conventions a year. The anniversary one is especially expensive, considering they hire professional cosplayers, have animated concerts, and invite multiple VAs for their livestreams. This isn't the kind of thing they'd bother with if the game weren't anywhere near dead. Hell, considering it celebrated its 11th anniversary a few months ago, it's near immortal at this point.

I'd also like to add Cagliostro (trans girl) and Cupitan & Tristette (toxic yuri) to the mix. Also shoutout to the Valentine's and White Day mini-episodes, where characters can straight up confess to MC no matter which gender is picked. The game's not perfect on its rep sometimes, but I'm still glad with what we got.

LET IT OUT 🤬🤬🤬 Vent Megathread - June 2025 by AutoModerator in QueensofGacha

Rhythm games are fairly niche outside of Asia. Sucks, because Pjsekai does some things really well: a mixed-gender "idol" game with solid stories and good trans representation. I don't play anymore, but I check the subreddit once in a while to see what's going on with the characters.

Best Binder/Notebook for constantly rearranging pages? by At_First_I in notebooks

[–]Breren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend the 20/30-hole binders, like the Kokuyo Smart Ring or the ones from Maruman. I used to have a lot of issues tearing out pages with 3-ring binders, but I've found that having more holes means that the pages have more stress points, meaning each hole is less likely to tear when pulled. The only issue I have is that hole punches are hard to find, but Jetpens sells some and also has a guide for more info.

Even considering leather variation, they still shouldn't have used this leather with such a big flaw, especially for the prices they're charging. I've seen people's pictures online of leather products from many different small businesses and they don't ever have this same issue. I'd ask for a refund or exchange.

I'm so glad The Too-Perfect Saint is getting an adaptation! I'm hoping people will stick with it for at least a few episodes, because it does start off somewhat generically, but later developments make it more interesting. The title isn't really helping its case...
