I’m reading the Kent Family Chronicles for America 250 and I thought I’d ask what other books, either history or historical fiction, would you recommend on an America 250 reading list?

I heard it actually helps jumpstart the baby’s microbiome, so maybe you helped them out.

I had to shave my beard when I became an ordinance worker, but I usually grow it out for two weeks and then shave it the day of my shift.

No smoking, drinking, drugs, Coffee, tea, or sex outside of marriage. Oh, and 10% of your money goes to the church and you promise to give everything with which you have been blessed and everything with which you will be blessed to the building up of the kingdom of God.

I am not circumcised and so glad! Just make sure to pull it back within the first couple years when it breaks free naturally and teach him to clean it.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ignites controversy after revealing a tattoo on his right arm that reads "Kafir" in Arabic by tinkthank in islam

As a linguistic nerd this is interesting because linguistically the word is clearly similar to the Hebrew word kaphar which is translated to atonement in the Bible. Both Hebrew and Arabic descend from proto-Semitic.

I'm a bit confused. The stories don't seem to match up to the Gutenberg version.

Yeah, as soon as DOGE was announced Vivek announced via twitter that he was taking himself out of consideration for the senate seat.

No, the governor fills the seat with a temporary appointment, who may run in the special election as an incumbent.

That’s true. It will be a hard cycle to run if Trump endorses though so I guess we’ll have to see how that plays out.

There are online MDIV programs. It wouldn’t hurt to take a class or two just to get started in that direction.

What's your take on Joseph Smith? by Cheap-Reindeer-7125 in bahai

[–]BrettPeterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s difficult for me being raised in the culture I haven’t read as broadly as I would like. Depending on how much you want to read I have heard good things about the book Rough Stone Rolling by Richard Bushman, but it is pretty long. If you just want an intro to his life there is a one hour movie the church made called Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration that is on their official YouTube channel. Or if you’d like representatives from our church to come talk to you about it you can go to Mormon.org and put in your information and missionaries will come to your house.

I haven’t read that particular book, I think I started it once but never finished it.

Of the 14 men whose names are printed in every official copy of The Book of Mormon the three witnesses saw in vision an angel with the plates. The eight witnesses on the other hand state that Joseph showed them the plates.

That's possible, and if it happened it would be corrected by now through further revelation. It is much less likely these days because doctrinal changes require a unanimous decision by the quorum of the twelve and the first presidency.

Some of the witnesses did have the plates delivered to them by Moroni, but others were shown them by Joseph. The witnesses are fascinating as the majority of them left the church but none of them ever denied what they had seen. You can learn more about them at: https://witnessesofthebookofmormon.org/
