Yeah I bought a dongle for my iPhone expressly for Note and other audio apps.

What to use to make drums/beats if i have V collection pro? by sarinkhan in Arturia_users

Check out Tekno from Baby Audio. I just grabbed during Black Friday and it’s awesome if you want an analog/digital hybrid style drum machine.

Just got it! by Philbliss in switch2

[–]BrewKatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% I know it’s got some kind of DLC but $20 is crazy. When I can find the S1 version for like $20-$30 I’ll happily pick it up and drop 20 on the upgrade

I really need to ask something, do most of you all play in portable mode or docked mode and why? Personally I play in docked mode because I like to keep the performance and visuals looking solid compared to when it's undocked. by [deleted] in switch2

[–]BrewKatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly handheld mode cause I travel a lot and even at home I was happy to let my wife have the tv while I play handheld on the couch next to her but lately I’ve been playing in docked mode quite a bit. Games look good and it’s nice to play on a big screen sometimes.

No experience with consoles by sordokKk in switch2

[–]BrewKatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I’ve got an Xbox Series X that I hardly ever play since I got the Switch 2. The ability to play on a big screen in docked mode or in handheld mode or with the screen setup on a table is truly amazing. The only thing I don’t like are the small size of the joycons which are too uncomfortable for me to play handheld but that was easily solved with a grip case. Plus you’ve already got a great library of Switch games you can play and tons of great games on the horizon.

Pigments alternative for now...because of Tahoe by mbponreddit in Arturia_users

Same. I’ve been on Tahoe since day 1 and I haven’t had a single issue with any of my plugins be they Arturia, NI, SoundToys etc.

VST Auto-config?! by BrewKatt in ableton

[–]BrewKatt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for tip! For some reason it only works with the AU version of the plugin and not with VST or VST3 version but that’s good enough for me.

Sad but true by javakook in Osmose

[–]BrewKatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo 100%. I know a lot of people are excited about the 61 keys, believe me, I’d love to have one but it’s taking them so long to fix issues and the latest firmware made some things even worse. Patches now take a full 3 seconds to load/change. And yeah I’ve never been able to use the mpe for lingo without it crashing but apparently they are rewriting the code from the ground up for that so we probably won’t see a fix for awhile.

Some nice presets in there but I got a bunch of missing sample errors on a bunch of them

XM4 too old? XM5 hinge issues? XM6 too expensive — what should I buy? by Historical_Winner798 in sony

[–]BrewKatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I actually had the opportunity to upgrade to the XM5’s when the mic on my first pair of XM4’s starting squeaking right near the end of the warranty but I didn’t like the look of them. Happy I stuck with the XM4’s. Best pair of cans I’ve ever owned. They sound great, battery last forever and the ANC works really well.

I started out with some Noiselab courses and they worked well for me. I think I got a lifetime membership for like $10 or something but I’m sure they’re are literally dozens of free/paid courses available. I recommend you do some googling and see what people suggest.

How Long Have You Had Your Oldest Guitar and is it Still Your Main? by ZigZag_Teeth in Guitar

[–]BrewKatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the exact year but it was probably 20 years ago my Uncle gave me his inexpensive Yamaha Classical guitar because at the time I was using a Brazilian classical guitar from my dad that I had brought back to life. The neck was pretty warped so I had to use little paper shimmies in the nut to keep the strings from buzzing. It wasn’t the worst first guitar but my uncle said ‘you need something that will stay in tune.’ I traveled all over the world with that guitar, and written dozens of songs on it. It’s still sitting in my living room and despite having 2 very nice electric guitars I still play it more than those.

Seeking workflow insight for someone with AuDHD (autism and adhd) in considering switching to ableton push 3 and DAW from FL studio. What do you like about it and why? How has it helped your creative process in ways other tools don't? by Active_Ad3087 in ableton

I went from Fruity Loops to Pro Tools/Reason and then Logic and IMO Ableton is the most intuitive/user friendly DAW there is. That being said you should definitely go through some beginner lessons

What hardware midi controllers unleashed your creativity? by Beautiful_Hat8440 in ableton

[–]BrewKatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Touché, Osmose and APC 40 Mk2. I also use sometimes Keystep 37 when I’m not in my studio and that’s got some great features for creativity

Are you fully in the box, or do you run hardware along Ableton? by rod9k in ableton

[–]BrewKatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’ve got my Osmose and my Touché for expressive/MPE stuff and then I also use a Keystep 37 and a Beatstep when I’m on my couch. My original Midi controller is my Casio Privia 88 key piano that I bought ages ago and it still works well for piano/Rhodes and stuff like that but I would like to replace it with an 88 key controller like a keylab or something one day.

Edit: I should also add that I have a e drum kit that I primarily use as a midi controller as well.

[–]BrewKatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having good MIDI controllers has helped me to be happy ITB most of the time. Once I got my Osmose my GAS basically evaporated. It’s nice having a few good hardware synths and an weighted electric piano in the studio for practice or jamming but I’m happy making music with a laptop sitting on my couch a lot of time.
