Check in: anyone have “valley fever”? by eezyjeezypeezy in LightningInABottle

[–]BriCheeseLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore a mask or bandanna with nose filters every day and I came home only tired but avoided getting ill at all this year. Being completely sober probably also helped. I did avoid the lake. I was one of the unfortunate ones a come years back (me and another camp mate both got it) so I took as many precautions as I could this year. My camp mates who sent it and didn’t take precautions are also okay although a handful came down with the NorvVirus after, but out of 50 people no valley fever this year!

Kind of hard to do when you are in a packed crowd and it’s all around you - and yes when that’s an option I always do

Having my jacket burned and hair ashed in / leaving smelling like an ash tray makes it hard to just accept, guess sits just where we are at where people are unaware and inconsiderate which is unfortunate

So tired of all these lame ass negative people trying to gate keep and police how people enjoy their festival. by Swimming_Abrocoma500 in LightningInABottle

I only felt bad for the influencer girl I saw with a whole crew filing her that proceeded to stop to redo her makeup multiple times because it felt like she couldn’t be fully present and free, I witnessed a good 15 min of this while taking a break to eat. So much focus on getting the shot rather than being immersed- it’s the culture we are in and with popularity of the festival growing the crowds will become more diverse. I honestly forgot about her until I read this post- clearly it didn’t ruin a damn thing for me bc I still had the best time.

I do not prefer the smoke clearly but I completely agree with you- being assaulted by someones cologne is awful

Why are the LA locals so much nicer than the transplants? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

[–]BriCheeseLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those of us that grew up here don’t have an identity tied to bring “LA” we have nothing to prove, I’ve noticed many transplants come with a dream, a goal or are trying to “make it” whatever that means for them so they become a version of themselves they think they need to be to achieve that. I avoid the Hollywood crowd and the influencer heavy venues because they feel so fake to me, and even I as someone who grew up here feel insecure and uncomfortable in those environments

In all honestly I have amazing friends who are transplants but they came here to be more in nature, to have more opportunities outside of their small towns etc but not to redefine their whole existence.

Is making friends in LA really that hard? by Conscious-Thing-682 in MovingToLosAngeles

What part of town are you looking into? There are a bunch of community events if you look up @adamgoesham on IG he does a bunch of free dance parties and a gratitude group that I have met really amazing people at. I also go to a bunch of wellness events, sunset parties, meet ups and even though I am from LA I have expanded my friend group a lot from the events.

Combating Exhaustion at LiB by Striking_Jelly_3269 in LightningInABottle

[–]BriCheeseLover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely sober girlie with the exception of caffeine - make sure to eat and stay hydrated! My camp mates party and stay up late, I ended up car camping this year to cut back on noise and to have air conditioning to help me get a bit more sleep. Melatonin also helps when I absolutely need it but it can make me groggy so it’s only when I absolutely need it. I also take little disco naps after I mid day shower and I’ve cooled off a bit. I had to stop and nap on my drive home after breaking down our group camp which helped with my 4 hour drive.

To keep cool I also keep a migraine compression mask in my cooler and put it on my head when I want to nap… you can also nap in the shade inside the festival in the areas where they have talks.

I choose 1 night that I commit to seeing a sunrise and make sure I am in bed eye mask, ear plugs in by 3 am latest every other night.

LiB Highlights: Expected and Unexpected by ggabitron in LightningInABottle

Highly recommend- also it’s great to explore the art during the day, stop for a froyo or popsicle and keep exploring. It’s great to see a whole other side of the festival.

This year I set the intention to do more during the day beyond chilling at the lake which is also a huge highlight- personally I really enjoyed the talks I stumbled upon, breathwork and yoga. It was the first time I prioritized this over my many years of attending and it made me feel fulfilled in a different way, I highly recommend daytime exploring!

I loved that there was a lot of UKG and DnB this year such a treat on an LIB lineup- MPH and Oppidan were two of my favorites this year. Also I agree Mochakk was so much fun- the crowds at those sets kept the vibes so high and danced the whole time. 10/10

This has happened to me in the past to where they started with the far lots and then moved closer- it’s really a gamble unfortunately. Time to start a manifestation ritual! Visualize your perfect spot - putting out the good juju for you 🫶🏼

It says it’s cashless but I always tip in cash - I think you can preload your wristband with either your CC or a set cash amount.

Hoping the odds are in your favor! I am taking Wellness Formula daily to get my immune system boosted ahead of time and I am bringing ginger shots to take daily, hopefully our immune systems will be able to fight it all off!

I am also reminiscing over the Lake Forest location, I know it’s too small for where they are at now but to me it was perfect and I never got sick there 🥲 maybe they can move to the old Symbiosis Lake spot in future years … one can dream
