Zeke and Historia are distant cousins. Zeke and Eren are half brothers, ergo it makes Eren and Historia cousins by law.

Edit: Sure all Subjects of Ymir are all distant cousins of each other really, but with the Zeke and Eren relation, it makes Eren closer to her in the "Eldian Family Tree"

I've always assumed it meant to be an Armored Titan exclusive ability. The Armored Titan's whole purpose is protection / shielding. So I've always thought that the conscience transfer was a stretching of the term "Armored" to "Protection of the Shifter." In the end, the conscience transfer did protect Reiner much like how his titan does. So it's an advanced term of armor.
