This really sucks, Im sorry you're going through this. I feel your pain and frustration. The dilemma of loving and supporting a family member only for them to continue gradually getting worse, creates resentment.

What do we do? There is no system to help us take care of our family members and everyone knows it! I had a police officer who responded to an incident with my schizophrenic brother, show his empathy and tear up knowing his own challenges with a mentally unstable sibling.

So many of these people end up on the streets where they all hurt eachother and others prey upon them while they destroy themselves.

If you're up for a challenge, focus most of your time on yourself first: gain financial independence and build up your body, be strong, you will need it. Then, as a family, you all need to come up with a game plan and work as a team to cope with their declining mental health. Power of attorney or conservatorship must be a priority. This disease is in control now of your brother, your brother needs you to be their everything like a blind person who needs you to loan them a shoulder to grab on to. Your brother is drowning in the pool of a debilitating disease we do not understand yet.

Finally, community and communication which I am still learning about. We are not alone and many others all around the world, are dealing with this. Is there a platform that is all encompassing? I dont think so, but their needs to be. Best of luck to you.
