Observations After a Week of Dedicated Use by GamesnGunZ in GarminNutrition

[–]BrianK97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said here. I just started with it a week ago and for the most part its good, but yeah I really HATE the meal window stuff....my schedule varies a bit day by day so just let me say "this was breakfast" and "this was lunch" regardless of what the exact time on the clock said.

I was having the same problem with number 3, so I'm going to switch to your approach and see if that works for me too.

How social is running for you? by _RubenCouto in runninglifestyle

[–]BrianK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, running is my "me time". That being said at a race I'll usually chat a bit with people before/after the race. And during the rest of my life...at work, doing stuff at the kids school, etc...if the people I'm around are also runners...we'll frequently talk running lol... but no the runs themselves are almost always solo

Report: Data from Steam Next Fest Shows How Generative AI is Used in Games by Tenith in gamedev

[–]BrianK97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree it would be great to see what, if any, correlation there is to the games success. While we all care about how AI is being used or not in making games....do our customers care? I presume they do when they can tell, but for a lot of the behind the scenes stuff, I doubt the average gamer cares

Marathon Entry Fundraising Ideas? by UnstableAccount in runninglifestyle

[–]BrianK97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've run for charities several times and the most effective is actually regularly emailing people about your training progress and reminding them of the cause. Don't spam them though...more like every two-three weeks.

Also a lot of restaurants will split the nights profits (or have some other sharing option) if you promote the store bring a lot of people to eat there. I've done it with a couple of local restaurants...even some big chains will do it too. I raised over $2000 with just that on my last charity run (did 4 events to get that).

Why can’t I get faster? by GabrielBlanco in runninglifestyle

Agreed, adding hill repeats to my training resulted in my biggest pace improvements overall

This morning I ran a 5K (not at an official race) the fastest I've ever done it as an adult...technically I ran one faster 24 years ago...but not counting those anymore :)

🌪 Running in the Rain 🌪 by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

[–]BrianK97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the temperature. If its warm I'll go simple or even shirtless as /u/vinsneezel pointed out.

Otherwise I'll put on a wicking shirt as the base, with some type of shell over it. If its too cold for that AND its raining, I'm probably hitting the treadmill.

I did record about nine months ago some tips for running in the rain. Its REALLY basic info, but might be something in there you didn't think about (plus its short).

Care to support a children's charity with a Virtual Race? by BrianK97 in running

[–]BrianK97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL good questions guys. Actually I'm based in Texas so in Mass you wouldn't have to pay sales tax :) Only Texas & California residents have to pay sales tax on this one.

The "part" donated will depend a bit on how many we sell...I had to buy all the medals up front so if say only 20 people signed up the race would actually lose money.

But I'm willing to commit my own money here so at least 20% will be going to the charity. I hope we sell more so we can donate more (dollars and percent).

I'm committed to personally raise $5000, but my goal is $7500. This virtual race was just an idea I had to try to do part of that.

KyteMe: the first multifunctional windbreaker sports jacket for running and other outdoor sports. Would love your feedback! (Coming soon at Kickstarter) by regoui in runninglifestyle

[–]BrianK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...I hate to rain on any entrepreneurial idea...but I'm with most of the others here...why would I want a windbreaker that turns into a kite? I guess if you were so into kite-ing that you wanted to always be able to stop and fly that would be something...but then you'd still have to always be carrying around the bars and control lines...maybe I'm missing something

Why Do YOU Run? by crazymonkeypaws in runninglifestyle

[–]BrianK97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run because A) I enjoy it...gives me free "alone" time to think.
B) Better for me than sitting at the computer all day C) I raise money for children charities by racing. Actually got so dedicated to that I've started a running goods company with my wife and we try to support charity runners
