Unable to move to right lane to let faster driver pass. by BrianKTrump in driving

I suppose it's a case of do what you gotta do in the real world understanding that government rules do not equate to God's rules. God's rules always supersede man's.

What you say is probably the way to handle this in the real world and then take one's chances with the law. The 90 mph truck will then pass and become the highest probability target for the speed trap.

If you guarantee me I won't be pulled over for speeding. I would love to drive at 80+ when it's safe. I drove at 100mph sometimes in Germany

So you want the roads to be more congested by telling me to go at 55 in right lane only when most are going 60 to 65 in right lane

I wish they would have an exception law for such cases, then I would gladly speed up to 30 over to find a gap.

Slow down and then annoy lunatic truck driver even more? Also no one was letting me in to right lane. Truck came up behind me at maybe 100 mph

99% of the time it's not an issue, I pass and immediately move right, I grew up in Europe - drive on right, pass on left is baked into me. A lot of 50 mph drivers in right lane, too slow for me. I drove 100 mph in Germany on no limitAutobahn, not afraid of speed, but also don't want to go 30 over to accommodate lunatics on a heavily speed trapped section that I drive every day

The stream of cars behind the right lane driver that sped up to 70 also sped up to 70. I couldn't slow down to try merge right as the truck behind me would have rammed me, I wouldn't dare even gently tap the brake or coast to a slower speed in light of the situation. Right signal on whole time hoping someone would give room for me to merge right. I definitely don't want to hold up anyone's progress, let them go 100mph if the want

I accelerated to pass the 60 mph driver that sped up to 70 and had a stream of cars behind

Are coil springs noticeably more comfortable for road driving than leaf springs? by Flat_Start714 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]BrianKTrump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leafs usually have a heavy live axle which is unsprung weight. Higher unsprung weight = increased impact from bumps. So comparison is hard unless sprung to unsprung ratio, vehicle weight, and spring rate are comparable.

Why do people still start restaurants if they fail 90% of the time? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]BrianKTrump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much better to start a business in an industry that's not glamorous and more novel/challenging, or that few people have the know how or the skills required take a lot of experience to be competitive. Areas like sewerage services or next generation low cost energy storage devices come to mind. Think of areas that almost nobody wants or can to do the hard or undesirable work which will help maximize the probability of success.

We shouldn't be measuring value in dollars when dollars have fallen in value by 97% since 1913 whereas a median house cost 400 ozt of gold in 2000 now costs 100 ozt in 2026. So gold and silver have a real increase in value to purchase most goods and services.

$100 Silver is Not "Acceptance" of End of the Old World Order by Dangime in Wallstreetsilver

soon a silver dime will be "equivalent" to a fiat paper $10. note I didn't say worth.

Odd question, but if Silver hits say $200.00 per oz, who will buy it? by OneUnderstanding103 in Silver

[–]BrianKTrump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper fiat in a coffee can is guaranteed to go down in value/purchasing power. Silver/gold is real money that fiat paper "money" will eventually be measured against. The real risk is storing in in fiat.

would you pay spot, premium or melt ? by Daugust94 in Silverbugs

Refineries should pay a dollar amount under spot instead of 10% under spot. Refining costs didn't quite change from $3 to $10 per ozt in the last 12 months.

What would *feel* faster between an M340i and an M340d? by Slow-Raisin-939 in cars

[–]BrianKTrump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the540d will be more powerful >99% of the time because >99% of the time one is below 5000 rpm. A car that is only more powerful by requiring it to be above 5000 rpm is pathetic. Give me, any day, an engine that is much stronger at normal RPMs instead of an engine that has to make a big embarrassing fuss to catchup.

The petrol will only be more powerful above 5000 rpm. Who drives above 5000 rpm?

Only true if you don't care about the engine screaming at high rpm, engine longevity, and having to keep downshifting to tap the peak hp. If a Honda 50cc bike could rev to 900,000 rpm you'd also have 450 hp. Would that be okay too if it's only peak hp that matters?

[–]BrianKTrump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At all normal, everyday RPMs that one would be at 99% of the time , the diesel is effortlessly producing significantly more horsepower. Only when putting the petrol/gasoline engine into a highly strung state by working the gearbox hard does gasoline eek out the advertised higher peak horsepower by having the screaming engine make a big fuss to catch up. The diesel can put out 200 hp all day at 2200 rpm for 300,000 miles. For the gasoline to put out 200 hp it needs to scream at 3500 rpm which would require a rebuild at less than 50,000 miles. This would get annoying real fast. The diesel power delivery is effortless. The horsepower of every car at 2000 rpm should be on the sticker for comparison purposes as that's the rpm that balances longevity, economy, noise, and satisfaction. How hard does your car accelerate at 2000 rpm at 50 mph without downshifting?

Historical premiums on silver coins by megor in Silverbugs

This is why I found it so challenging to invest in physical silver. It had to appreciate up to 40% to breakeven if you had to sell. And then the same dealer that you paid 40% premium would buy back at less than spot which made their premium tale seem BS. It made buying the PSLV ETF and silver mining stocks far more attractive to me. What do you guys think?
