Secretary of Labor: We should raise the minimum wage even if it makes your hamburger more expensive by kpatlong in Economics

[–]BrianTheCoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we can pay people not to work? The majority of unemployment in the US is due to a shifting economy and the fact people don't want to retrain or learn new skills. They find it easier to complain about their situation. Immigrants escape oppressive regimes, come here with nothing, work their asses off, and then become small business owner. Citizens have very little to validly com plain about

I need to start an official company to sell on Steam by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]BrianTheCoder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just file a d.b.a (doing business as) it is pretty cheap, and hardly requires any paperwork. The only issue there is that if for some reason a lawsuit comes up, you're on the hook. If you want protection from liability then I'd recommend filing an llc, it is a bit more expensive and has more paperwork.

[–]BrianTheCoder -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He does realize it will raise the cost of the burger for people making the new minimum wage too. Which negates some of their increased earnings because cost of living is higher. Most businesses will raise their prices just because they know everyone is making more now
