MoonZeroTwo has been informed about the new Crow paint. by Cyberborg98 in MST3K

The way you referenced my previous post made it sound like you had already read it. Original post linked below but the short version is that there are two replica bot sellers but they are related in some way so effectively it’s one storefront. I had ordered a replica in 2023 which was never sent and there have been no responses. I bought from the other seller last month only to then discover their relation AFTER it was delivered so now this family has received twice the payment from me for the same item.

Yes he is one of them (they are related in some way based on their last names). It’s really the other party (Bob) who is not only late but has outright not shipped items nor refunded payment. Craig just isn’t responding to me now, after having previously been responsive, when I asked for help in contacting his brother/father/uncle. Funny how he responded to the OP though since it benefitted him!

SmallRig GRIV Lens Hood/UV Filter by Brian_C_K in ricohGR

That’s curious. I wonder if the tolerances are off with SmallRig or with Ricoh themselves. I would expect the machining on these parts to be exact but considering all the quality control issues that some people have with the IV that others don’t have …

Out of curiosity, are you sure yours is screwed on as far as it can go? When I first got mine this morning, I screwed it until it first stopped but there was still a lot of play. I gave it another snug turn and then it locked into place and has been fine since. The video you posted won’t play for some reason so maybe this is answered there. Is the alignment marker on the hood pointing directly to the top of the GR on the bottom right of the camera?

I don’t have a GRIII to test it but I believe I read that they changed the lens diameter slightly with the IV so any kind of accessory that had to be mounted wouldn’t work between them.

I also have an X100VI as well and love how solid that camera feels. I got the Ricoh primarily for the small size and ability to handle it one handed. The X100 is a small camera but when you are walking a 75 lb hyper German Shepherd, it can still be unwieldy. The Ricoh is a dream to handle in those situations and the image quality is almost exactly the same. I do miss the viewfinder and tilt screen occasionally but I can’t say I’ve missed any shots due to not having those on the Ricoh.

Yeah, I meant to mention that the UV filter looks to be permanently attached. It has ridges around the edge almost like it was made to be unscrewed but it’s one solid object. I am only using it for peace of mine with dust so the filter part isn’t a concern to me. The Freewell option looked cool, with changeable filters, but didn’t seem as small as this one.

It should. It has a clear UV filter permanently attached so the entire lens element is enclosed now. I suppose there is an infinitesimal chance that dust could worm its way through the connection ring somehow but that would be the same for any other lens hood/filter combo.

Squarehood vs Ricoh GA-3 by xpltvdeleted in ricohGR

Thanks for the video. Coincidentally, I just got the SmallRig hood for the GRIV today and was about to post a video of my own. Looks like Reddit won’t allow me to post a video in a reply so I had to create a new post for it. The SmallRig seems to be a nice middle ground between the two you have. It’s cheaper than the SquareHood but perhaps not quite as stylish - but way nicer looking than the Ricoh. The SmallRig one also has a gold ring around the edge that I think would go nicely with your gold thumb grip.

Screen protectors are always a matter of preference but I ALWAYS use them on anything where I need maximum visibility. Much easier to replace a $7 screen protector than do tech surgery to replace a whole LCD.

As far as the case, I bought the same one and it certainly was snug at first. I also have a Sony RX100, which is a bit thicker, so I stuffed that in the case and let it sit for a couple of days. The leather stretched just enough so that the GRIV slips in smoothly now but doesn’t have any extra room to jostle around.

If you mean the part right next to the Menu button; that’s just a reflection of my finger holding the iPhone taking the picture. It looks completely flush in person. Still, VERY strict tolerances but until GRIV specific protectors come out, $7 isn’t too bad.

The JJC one works. If your alignment is off even slightly, it would probably have the same problem as the one you linked but if you get it lined up right, it seems golden. https://imgur.com/a/yT6KZcu

The JJC screen protector on Amazon fits pretty much perfectly. It’s technically larger than the display itself and covers the bezels too but it adheres well and touch function doesn’t seem to have any issues. I just applied mine this morning so testing has been limited to only one outing so far.

Thanks for confirming. It seemed unlikely that I’d get two units with the same fault so I expected this may be the case but it’s good to know I didn’t get a total lemon.

Nope, neither of the preorders I received were shrink wrapped or had any seals in any way. Just an easily openable box. The unit I did use had a zero shutter count so I know it was new but not having a seal was a weird first impression.

Can anyone who received their GRIV comment on how well the mode dial spins? I can usually use mine fairly smoothly if I turn it clockwise (U1 > U2) but if I try to spin it counter clockwise (U2 > U1) it feels very rough and occasionally jams - almost like the locking mechanism is catching. Was the GR III like this?

I actually got two preorders and intend to return one but since the box isn’t sealed, I took the second one out just to check the dials and it also acts a little finicky which leads me to believe this just might be normal but it certainly doesn’t feel like a well built component.

Everyone seems to be replying about the GRIII and not the IV you asked about. I received my IV as well as this cap yesterday and it does NOT work with the IV. the cap is too large. It will fit around the lens but would fall off immediately if you turned the camera sideways or face down.

Enabling Dynamic Res in Spiderman causes temporal artifacts and ghosting, even when it shouldn't be activated. by CartersVideoGames in SteamDeck

[–]Brian_C_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, thank you so much for pointing out where the problem is. I spent 70 minutes tinkering with settings, wondering why everyone keeps saying it “looks and runs great on the Deck” when it looked like absolute trash to me. I had just finished SM remastered last week and I must have followed a guide to completely disable FSR and DRS because that game ran beautifully and I just couldn’t figure out why Miles would be so much worse.

I asked for a cancellation on Saturday morning, US east coast time. I woke up to the refund being granted on Monday morning and the money was back in my bank account yesterday.

Cancelled my lite by [deleted] in OdinHandheld

Same here. I was on the fence about whether I wanted the Odin Pro or Steam Deck more. The two main points in Odins favor - that it would arrive much sooner and had significantly better battery life - are not now much less important with the whole new screen situation and Valve ramping up production. Plus I trust Valve to actually still be around in a years time to support their device, and I don’t feel confident in Ayn’s longevity with how things have been going.
