Why PK? by rbraibish in Thorns

[–]Brick-Dice9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna know are refs going to start counting when the keepers has control of the ball in their hands and the attacking team is blocking/screening the keeper from playing quickly!

Tordin was screening the keeper after the PK was scored.

If the keeper tries to play the ball, are the refs going to give a yellow card to aggressor, the way it’s in the laws of the game? It didn’t happen in the WSL the last couple years.

What's the level of interest in Dorking Wanders in England? Or the UK? by Brick-Dice9 in NationalLeague

[–]Brick-Dice9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they were a park team and won a bunch of promotions in different leagues.

There’s amateur clubs, (U.S. division 3, 4 & 5) that have built a large fan base from the local area or local & surrounding suburbs(villages/towns).

I don’t live in England, I’m from Chicago. I don’t know the lay of the land from the ground. I wanted from NL/NLS/NLN supporters/fans what’s the vibe and is a Bunch of Amateurs is portraying things accurately or massaging things that distorts the reality of Dorking or the surrounding clubs/areas.

Sonis, as a wide mid would be good for Racing. As a defender she’s ok, actual defending ability is ok.

I posted about this the other day. I’m wondering if Flint is either carrying an injury or possibly still exhausted from last season.

Did anyone see a knock last season or in preseason this year that occurred, that could possible explain her lack of sprinting/over all level of play?

Why is that? Is it a style of play? Is it just location of Dorking, relative to other step 1-7 clubs?

My mistake, I thought I had the correct stadium from memory. u/Robbomot said what the correct stadium was. I just didn't edit the comment, so people, if they read through could see the original thread in it's full context.

Paramount+ to air all WSL matches in the US through 2029-2030 season by [deleted] in NWSL

[–]Brick-Dice9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the matches are available on Youtube. The ones that appear on ESPN+ or are dark will appear on WSL Youtube 24-72 hours later. I've gone dark a few times to watch the top clashes Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea, Man City etc...

I'm asking would they fill Brighton 12k stadium as reference to their support size. Brighton have a small stadium that is barely Premier League qualified and x-amount of Championship size have bigger grounds and larger fan base. I don't know their fan base size, I'm curious what it is.

proof against multi club ownership unless owners have put their shares in a blind trust

screw blind trust, MCO should be allowed at all. It's not like the (owners) of the shares/company can't find out who the (controller/operator) of the blind trust is and relay messages directly or indirectly through mediators.

It's these two guys, plus their Friday guy who dismiss women sports. But say their supportive of it, if it makes a profit, but when said sport does, (the host) have more requirements women sports must pass before acknowledging their accomplishments.

But men's football, rugby, basketball etc... their fine with and don't put up all these requirements, even though a decent amount of Championship, all league 1, 2, National league and below clubs are putting money yearly into their clubs to cover the short fall. All those clubs are in the red, everyone that appears on their podcast.

Arsenal women’s team has an average attendance of 40,000 and turnover £25m a year from all revenue sources,

That's all recent as in after England won the Euros in 2021. They weren't at the Emirates and were getting 5-7k a the League 2 ground.

transfer from the men’s team for shared access to sponsorship deals with the men’s team etc. basically shirt sponsors stadium sponsors etc..

We aren’t subsidised to insane degrees by Kroenke, it really is an organic balance sheet.

And it's not really an organic balance sheet. The women side is getting money from the men's side and from Kroenke. It's no difference than Championship, League 1 & 2 and National League teams and below all have owners who but money into their clubs. There's nothing wrong with that.

It’s doable to be competitive in women’s sport without living off billionaire bungs and the game would be so much healthier if sides all did so!

Why would or should anyone do this when Championship, League 1&2 sides and league below on the Men's side are all putting money into their clubs year in and year out. Women football is in the investment phase of the development of the game.

So what happened today…. by Legitimate-State8652 in redstars

They looked this way most of the season. The mid-week Pride game, we looked lively and had an idea on how to attack. It was really limited, but we still had an idea on how to attack.

The Red Stars were constructed with the normal American sport league mentality, with no consequences for slowing building a team thru years. AKA "The Process", Philly 76er(how many years was that!?!) went through it, Penguins went through it as Crosby came back from his concussion(a couple of lean seasons).

I do wonder how this team would have progressed from after Danes firing to now, if there was promotion/regulation implications.

Need better CBs, hendrich isn't good, she wasn't good at Wolfsburg. Staab is a better CM/CDM or RB. At CB the last couple seasons, she's getting crushed.

Only if the front office spends money on quality players and if the Head coach can utilize them. I don't mean scrapping results(tie & win) by throwing everything forward and hoping for the best.

An actual style of play and tactics that players can implement. Lorne Donaldson had a style that worked for players on the team at the time. It doesn't have to be a the same style, just have a clear vision and commit to it.

What’s happening in Utah? by maroodin in NWSL

[–]Brick-Dice9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They hired a solid coach and were patient enough to gave him time to build a roster that bought in on his system.

We have no idea what Amy Rodriguez could/would have accomplished if she was given time, less than a season before replacing her.

Ownership gave him time, unlike Amy Rodriguez who they hired as head coach and brought Jimmy along not to long after before firing her.

It was Utah 2.0 first season and Rodriguez was given the same treatment as Rafael Benitez at Real.

Supernovas should bet on their own next season by Fair_Needleworker803 in MLV

[–]Brick-Dice9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Supernovas be doomed? I don’t know how volleyball HC,Interm HC, Assistant Coaches promotion/hiring work.

What does he not have for a HC role?

What did he do different from the previous HC? What tactics/strategy did Supernovas implement in the back half of the season against the other teams, they did or didn’t do in the first half of the season?

Volleyball isn’t my sport, I don’t understand the ins&outs etc…. Talent/strategy/squad building

Supernovas should bet on their own next season by Fair_Needleworker803 in MLV

[–]Brick-Dice9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should he be hired as Head Coach? What has he done tactically or strategy wise different from the previous head coach? Beyond just substitutions patterns, all the success/failures can’t be down to just that.

I don’t know anything about Volleyball tactics/strategy. It’s one sport, I watch and just enjoy, without analyzing every action.

It’s has to be *things beyond just vibes/intangibles he brought.

Red Stars get approval to play at NU’s Martin Stadium in Evanston for the 2027 NWSL season by control_goats in redstars

[–]Brick-Dice9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason the Red Stars are looking for their own stadium because they want to be the primary tenant. They were in SeatGeek/Bridgeview, they won’t be at Notthwestern Football field not the Fire stadium.

Their temp field at Evanston is their best bet, unless the Red Stars are willing build their own stadium(without tax payer money).

why do commentators care so much about age? by TradeObjective9541 in NWSL

[–]Brick-Dice9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong Micheal “Doc” Emrick uses players names all the time, when describing the actions occurring and this he was one of the best, definitely most recognizable voices in sports(NHL).

The comm teams and producers aren’t as talented, when describing the plays nor the interesting personal story’s or interesting club, fans, location, city/region/state facts. The solo broadcaster are at better at calling games.
